well the UK has no problem suppressing speech. that's why people like geert wilders or shirley phelps aren't allowed in.
the media here has the right to report on the case. if there is video and evidence, they can report it. i'm not saying the media here is perfect, but we value freedom of speech here more than in the UK.
and the jury gets to decide the case based on evidence presented at trial. if there isn't enough, he won't be convicted. that's how it works.

Like I said I'm not familiar with this guys case and if he is found guilty by his peers then I hope he gets the punishment he deserves. However the medias influence on high profile cases is of great concern in criminal law circles (on both sides of the Atlantic).
