Sadly, it seems kids don't have coping skills to deal with problematic issues at school and their peers. Fortunately, schools have taken a more pro-active posture in dealing with "bullying" issues, but that doesn't change the fact that some kids kill themselves instead of confronting the issue, as has happened recently in Massachusetts and other states.
this is...tragic...i actually live in Olean, NY. my dad went to school with Tony Barbaro, and he was friends with him...hes told me many stories about him...our school shooting was the first school shooting in history. a janitor was actually shot right outside of my science room. luckily, tony barbaro didnt do the deed during school hours. he did it at about 5:30 P.M. for some reason. but it still turned out tragic...ill forever remember those killed in school violence...

I find it amazing there are certain states called "right to carry" states. What is interesting is these states have a lower crime rate than carry restrictive states because if a person can legally purchase and own a firearm than that person can legally carry that firearm. Does anyone think these attacks are a spur of the moment thing or is it possible these individuals may have possibly showed a pattern or warning to their behavior. Just a thought teach gun safety at schools. I have always heard if it saves one life than it is worth it. How many lives would be saved if kids were taught gun safety at a young age? Most people dont realize it is a privelage to drive a car but it is a right to own a firearm as an american citizen. So since cars kill more people than guns lets ban cars. Sounds silly right? Who wants to give up their privelige to drive a car. Not anyone I know.

When the UK instituted strict gun laws they reduced gun deaths but not death by violent means. Is it better to be stabbed to death or beaten to death? Is it better to increase index crime against women to be able to say there are fewer gun deaths?
Agreed. Furthermore, the true reason we need guns is to protect ourselves not from criminals, but in the instance that our military turns on us. That is why we were given the right in the first place.

The schools these days don't take bullying seriously and they tell the person being bullied that it won't happen again. And then guess what happens? It happens again, then again, then again, and then again, then you get a school shooting. In my honest opinion, some of the people that killed others in these school shootings due to being bullied, they should get a minimum of 25 years in prison.

this is...tragic...i actually live in Olean, NY. my dad went to school with Tony Barbaro, and he was friends with him...hes told me many stories about him...our school shooting was the first school shooting in history. a janitor was actually shot right outside of my science room. luckily, tony barbaro didnt do the deed during school hours. he did it at about 5:30 P.M. for some reason. but it still turned out tragic...ill forever remember those killed in school violence...

I find it amazing there are certain states called "right to carry" states. What is interesting is these states have a lower crime rate than carry restrictive states because if a person can legally purchase and own a firearm than that person can legally carry that firearm. Does anyone think these attacks are a spur of the moment thing or is it possible these individuals may have possibly showed a pattern or warning to their behavior. I doubt they woke up one day and decided to shoot people.

Just a thought teach gun safety at schools. I have always heard if it saves one life than it is worth it. How many lives would be saved if kids were taught gun safety at a young age? Most people dont realize it is a privelage to drive a car but it is a right to own a firearm as an american citizen. So since cars kill more people than guns lets ban cars. Sounds silly right? So you are correct in as much as that now the genie is out of the bottle it would be very difficult to tackle this problem. However I DIDN'T say guns increased violent crime. Guns increase the number of people who DIE through violent crime, and also accidentally. Also owning a gun for protection makes you more, not less likely to die violently.

Gun laws have changed crime patterns, in some cases drastically, but no country or state has reduced violent crime with gun laws. When the UK instituted strict gun laws they reduced gun deaths but not death by violent means. Is it better to be stabbed to death or beaten to death? Is it better to increase index crime against women to be able to say there are fewer gun deaths?

When I watch stuff like this, it makes me sick, of what people have to say, if he's black, he is a dum ass nigger, if he's white, he is a dum ass redneck. When are we going to get past that and see that there is something fu$#ing wrong with kids now days. people walking in class takeing life, people on planes, people on streets. The thing is, this shit has been happening since the dawn of time. You just hear about it more because the media makes money off this ordeal. Its shocking news, yet it manages to catch everyone's attention. There are shootings, murders, and rapes allll the time. People killing eachother is natural. I dont think its right, but its natural, its in our blood.

@moveupnotdown because of poor parenting by the older generation. Thank God i got the parents i did. Not to many parents know how to parent. Now this is going to sound really really messed up but ever since women entered the work force parenting has gone to sh!t. @moveupnotdown (continued) parents should have a long and serious conversation at the begining of the childs life on who will be the provider and who will be the care giver. Obviously the mother has to be the care giver in the first year of life but after that it should be a split disition of who will take what roll in the childs life. Its just a theory and please nobody talk crap to me. We got to start the discution somewhere right?? other people post your thoughts on what can be done.

Kids have it so easy? are you kidding me.. obviously you have never taken a college level sociology (or psych) course before.. i am a teacher and you have it wrong.... bullying has gone beyond what it was 10 (or even 5) years ago. There is cyber bullying (facebook, txt msg, youtube, etc) along with physical and emotional bullying.
GET REAL.. society has changed and school for peers is harder

@amott07 I also blame the schools for this. That is for the cases that occured do to bullying. The schools these days don't take bullying seriously and they tell the person being bullied that it won't happen again. And then guess what happens? It happens again, then again, then again, and then again, then you get a school shooting. In my honest opinion, some of the people that killed others in these school shootings due to being bullied, they should get a minimum of 25 years in prison.

There are so many listed that I didn't even know about! There has to be as many more not listed. It actually inspired me to research these incidents as well as searching for more. WAY TOO MANY! We need more awareness around this issue! My heart goes out to all those who were involved in all incidents similar to this. Good work with this video...
