He says, "God," by accident on live TV and really does seem to have breathing problems from that aluminum dust in WIZARD OF OZ. Wonderful, nimble dancing with his sister. I am told there is a famous surreal dance he did, which I seek. Uprated.
"Silver City Bonanza," the film Buddy Ebsen had just completed when this marvelous dancing was shown on TV, was released in March 1951. That would date this TV clip from about January 1951. "You Asked for It" was originally "The Art Baker Show," after its creator and host, shown here. It ran first on Dumont, and after a year on ABC (December 1950 to 1959). This had to have been from the early Dumont run. I love this and replay it constantly.
Thank goodness this request came in, and the cameras preserved such a wonderful performance by such a great dance team, and that solo by Buddy. I'll be playing this one every day. Thanks for posting it!
One of the greatest dancers that ever lived!! Kinda like watching Jed Clampet when he was Jethro's age!

Back when you needed to be talented in every way, when we were really entertained by people who had earned the right to perform for an audience.

If you want to see Eleanor Powell with Buddy and Vilma Ebsen all in their prime, search for "Sing before Breakfast" -- a great routine.
