Honestly I haven't seen 106th in about 4 years, but I can imagine what they play on it. That's just the mainstream, of course the major labels make just catchy music that people can dance to, because it sells more. They don't focus on making good music necessarily, they focus on making money.
The underground scene, however, has a lot of real artists that make great music...
more true words have neva been spoken my dude... but remember the time when pac nas tribe and de la soul were mainstream??? that's because that's watt hip hop was... ther was nothin else lol
Well I'm only 16, but I get your point. I would guess it's because hip hop was new and fresh and drew more elements from other genres. But a lot of people don't realize that, especially because the songs are catchy. Since the beats are much more complex than when rap first started, they hold peoples' attention enough for them to not really consider what the emcees are actually saying and whether it has any meaning or not.
lol and i just turned 17 man... but i wouldn't say the beats are more complex have u heard the crank da instrumental a two year old could make dat lol... i would just say dat the bass is harder and the beats are more catchy like u said before.... but nonetheless it says alot about real hip hop makin a comeback... i mean look at the two of us young dudes having a conversation about it... dats the upside
What I'm saying is now it seems the major labels have it down to like a science, and the beats sound the like they came out of a factory. They have all these strings and other effects that create a simple melody and distracts you from the lyrics. I think that soon, there will be some more people turned off by that and with Youtube, Myspace, forums, Twitter, etc. word of underground will spread quicker and expose more people.
God I hope so.... it's our only hope.... cuz i couldn't live with knowing dat oneday soulja boy is goin to get a lifetime achievement award... i just couldn't do it
Oh God, don't give me that thought lol. But there's lots of up and coming artists. The internet and computers make it so even the average person can make beats or spit what's on their mind. I'm actually a producer myself.
:D:D soulja boy gettin lifetime achievement award? naah that wouldn't happen to any of these soulja boyish clows..atleast i hope it won't:D but still if it would...i woulnt giva a fuck, cuz i just couldn't take that serously.
kev brown is way underated, real hiphop heads know who he is,but i would say, remove the unit from mtv,and put kev there, then people wouldent think hiphop is just cars money bitches and violence
man i want this song where can i find it please somebody reply to me i love the the under music i have almust all his albums but i need this song yooo
daym... this is a kick ass Video. Im glad to see more rap/producers working with "artist". It gives a more raw, urban, street interpretation to the track. Truly an elevated vision of HIP HOP. Especially with a Kev Brown joint.
Kev Brown all day...I could listen to his ish all day. So ill as a producer and can spit on the mic too. One of the few carrying the torch for hip hop.
