Well reading the comments on this video its slightly visible that many people that now own a pre are amazed by the software and stuff and you also have to mention that the iphone already has the 4th gen released because and yes just because the earlier iphones have had so many problem and looking at it. apple still, not even with the iphone4 managed to deliver the speed and most important the multi tasking abilities that the pre offers its users. And having both devises the pre looks better
I've used both and would take my Pre over an iPhone any day. My Pre doesn't drop my call if I don't hold it a certain way. Maybe apple should have charged another 100 bucks for the iPhone and put it towards installing internal antenna that actually function.

I had the iphone and really like it but once I got the Pre, I could never switch back. I still gave you 5 stars since I saw you have the imac lol. The OS on the pre is flawless, a lot better than my iphone. People aren't talking about it? I see palm pre commercials every 5 mins. The apps and hardware on the iPhone are great. I have an iPod Touch. But the Pre's WebOS OS is incredible. I can listen to Pandora, have Navigation in the background that cuts in with directions, and recieve text message notifications, emails, or calendar notifications all at the same time. I don't think I could go back to a phone without multitasking. If the iPhone doesnt get multitasking on thier next release it will disappoint those that understand the convienience it brings.

the pre is the best phone made hands down. the build quality isn't the best but its getting better. the UI blows everything including the iphone out of the water. When webOs 1.4 comes out it will have video recording, flash, html5 web/gl. This phone will overtake the closed minds and closed architeture of the iphone. Hmm, this is weird. I haven't had ANY problems with my Palm Pre, I've dropped in on cement from about 4 feet, and it didn't harm it. I've also dropped it in my bathtub, yes very stupid, but it didn't harm it except the headset jack is kind of messed up. While Apple did create the "App Store", Palm devices were running apps years before the IPhone was ever deemed possible to create. Palm led the way in the early years of PDAs and smartphones and is a main reason why smartphones are like they are today.
There are numerous reports of the batteries exploding (one man even got a shard of glass in his eye from it) and from the overheating battery discoloring the white, plastic case on the back of the phone.
Ive not heard anything about blowing up batteries. The discoloring had nothing to do with the iPhone. It was the inside of third party cases rubbing off. If Palm is so great and led the way then why were they depending on the Pre to keep them alive? Surely, if they were sooo great, they wouldve never been in so much trouble to begin with.
First of all, I agree with jeremy. Apple invented the appstore, no phones would have appstores if it wasnt for apple. secondly, iphones rarely have and hardware problems. There was one issue with the iphone 3g in which it wouldnt wake from sleep ocassionally and had to be plugged in or reset. but thats long since fixed and it was very rare.
and iphones dont overheat, they dont even get hot. When its charging it gets a little warm, but thats it.
Another false myth was that overheated iPhones caused the case to turn brownish. That wasn't from overheating, or from anything involving the case or heat. It was caused from 3rd party cases rubbing off their inner coating on iPhone's case.
i care about the pre. i love this phone. its slowly picking up steam. its not going to die anytime soon. the OS kills everything out there in the mobile market.

Its been testing many times.. Safari on the iPhone is much quicker than the Pre. Apps dont load faster. Especially on a 3GS. iPhone doesnt need more than one app open at a time. We have Push. Saves battery much better than background apps. Service has shit to do with the phone itself. Cheaper service has nothing to do with the phone itself, either.

The Palm Pre is actually better than the Iphone. I love my iMac and i just love apple in general but the Pre is just a better phone, i mean AT&T sucks. And everybody has to remember that other people had alot of problems with the iPhone on launch day too but look at it now. I like my Pre iMac duo.
You can't look at AT&T and Sprint to say which PHONE is better. AT&T does suck, but Sprint isn't in many places.. plus the iPhone has EVERYTHING the Pre does, PLUS a huge app store and iTunes will always work with it.
You can jailbreak and multitask.. not that it's needed. Both phones cost the same. I could ask a ton about the Pre that the iPhone has. Where's the 65k app store? Where's the quality hardware? Where's the battery life? If you were talking "rates" as far as the monthly cost.. that has nothing to do with being good or bad.
I just ordered the Palm Pre today so I'll see what all the fuss is about soon. I already plan to return it but I ordered it just to play with it myself for a few weeks. I would just get the IPhone except that I don't get company discounts through AT&T and IPhone is not avail on Sprint. I also wish IPhone had a swing out keyboard. I prefer to type without having to look at each letter making sure I pick the right one.
It doesn't take long at all and you can type on the iPhone without having to look. It's actually much, much quicker than a physical keyboard once you're used to it.
The physical phone itself is too small and the slideout keyboard is way too small as many have already said in these comments. I've since returned the Palm Pre and got the new HTC Touch Pro2. Just wish I could take the WebOS with me and put it on the Touch Pro2. That could make for a perfect phone, well for me anyway. FoodForThought, why not make a phone where people get to choose there OS they'd like to have on it? I know, it's a little far fetch today but maybe not tomorrow.

Also, The Pre being flimsy? exactly how flimsy are we talking about. It's not paper thin and it doesn't bend like a bowflex. The battery life is great when not running multiple apps (which is users choice). OMG a choice?!? Do you have a choice iphone??? NO! The physical keyboard will always outdo a touchscreen keyboard. If you have big fingers, its a problem. What product doesn't have its pros and cons? Some phones are better suited for some people then others. There is no "best" phone period.

I'm glad you follow me around and know what phones i do and don't use and mess with. I actually have messed around with a Pre.. it's hardware is cheap and flimsy at absolute best. 1 in 3 are returned for hardware problems. The iPhone isn't perfect, but it makes significant strides with each release.. hardware and firmware. Call quality is all on AT&T, not Apple or the iPhone. Nice attempt though, troll.

I'm not jumping on the palm pre bandwagon, but if I was going to buy that or the iphone I would take the palm pre, hands down. Yeah the iphone might be cheaper initially, but the monthly cost is higher. It also, to me, is not as nice a phone. The iPhone is a much better phone than the Pre. Hardware especially. The Pre is a flimsy piece of junk. It literally feels like a cheap toy. The keyboard absolutely horrible. I didn't say it's inferior because of the number sold. I was using the number sold to show my argument that no one really cares about the Pre and that it is in no way an iPhone killer, or even competition. The fact that since launch week, only 25k of the expected 114k per week are being sold proves my point. And even worse for Palm, 1 in 3 are being returned. A good product doesn't get returned 33% of the time.
I appreciate your opinion, but I haven't seen any of these problems in the palm pre. You claim the ipod is sooo superior, but it's just not. The deal breaker for me is the barely functioning on screen keyboard. I also think webOS looks a lot more promising than portable OSX.

I had the iphone and really like it but once I got the Pre, I could never switch back. I still gave you 5 stars since I saw you have the imac lol. The OS on the pre is flawless, a lot better than my iphone. People aren't talking about it? I see palm pre commercials every 5 mins. I'm not a die hard phone person but my personal opinion is that palm pre is better. It's a lot more convenient. I hate when people judge a gadget over how many people waited in line to buy it. The apps and hardware on the iPhone are great. I have an iPod Touch. But the Pre's WebOS OS is incredible. I can listen to Pandora, have Navigation in the background that cuts in with directions, and recieve text message notifications, emails, or calendar notifications all at the same time. I don't think I could go back to a phone without multitasking. If the iPhone doesnt get multitasking on thier next release it will disappoint those that understand the convienience it brings.

Hmm, this is weird. I haven't had ANY problems with my Palm Pre, I've dropped in on cement from about 4 feet, and it didn't harm it. I've also dropped it in my bathtub, yes very stupid, but it didn't harm it except the headset jack is kind of messed up. Have you even bought the palm pre is my main question, how can you judge something if you've never had it yourself.

I found it ironic that since the Pre's announcement and release Palm's stock has raised nearly 10 fold... Not only that, but the hardware in the Pre and the 3G S are basically the same. WebOS, according to numerous developers, far surpasses the potential of the iphone and in numerous ways already surpass the iphone. What are you talking about no one knows what it is? It's Sprint's flagship phone with hundreds of thousands of people owning it across the USA, Canda, and soon parts of Europe. The Palm Pre is currently Best Buy's number one selling phone and won CNET's Best of CES 2009 and People's Voice Award.
Potential is actually everything, and that combined with Palm's developer friendly attitude is drawing many developers to palm.

It's only down to $75 through third party carriers, like most mobile phones are these days.
As for apps, the app store recently hit around 120 apps and the homebrew section has well over twice that number with many tweaks and patches that offer customization. Apps such as tethering that the IPhone doesn't have or would charge $30 a month for...
Actually a lot of people buy phones for potential. That's why everyone bought the IPhone, remember? It had almost nothing when released.

While Apple did create the "App Store", Palm devices were running apps years before the IPhone was ever deemed possible to create. Palm led the way in the early years of PDAs and smartphones and is a main reason why smartphones are like they are today.
There are numerous reports of the batteries exploding (one man even got a shard of glass in his eye from it) and from the overheating battery discoloring the white, plastic case on the back of the phone.

First of all, I agree with jeremy. Apple invented the appstore, no phones would have appstores if it wasnt for apple. secondly, iphones rarely have and hardware problems. There was one issue with the iphone 3g in which it wouldnt wake from sleep ocassionally and had to be plugged in or reset. but thats long since fixed and it was very rare.
and iphones dont overheat, they dont even get hot. When its charging it gets a little warm, but thats it.

Another false myth was that overheated iPhones caused the case to turn brownish. That wasn't from overheating, or from anything involving the case or heat. It was caused from 3rd party cases rubbing off their inner coating on iPhone's case.

My GF has a 3GS and I have a pre, my phone outperforms in some areas while hers does in others. But you are comparing 3rd gen harware and 1st gen-not fair, 1st iphone didn't even have 3G. Of course the pre is better than the first gen iphone with iphone OS 1, but keep in mind the iphone was the first of its kind, one of the most inovative products ever invented. and iphone OS 2.0 with the iphone 3g revoloutionized the entire mobile phone industry with being able to play games. I just ordered the Palm Pre today so I'll see what all the fuss is about soon. I already plan to return it but I ordered it just to play with it myself for a few weeks. I would just get the IPhone except that I don't get company discounts through AT&T and IPhone is not avail on Sprint. I also wish IPhone had a swing out keyboard. I prefer to type without having to look at each letter making sure I pick the right one.

The physical phone itself is too small and the slideout keyboard is way too small as many have already said in these comments. I've since returned the Palm Pre and got the new HTC Touch Pro2. Just wish I could take the WebOS with me and put it on the Touch Pro2. That could make for a perfect phone, well for me anyway. FoodForThought, why not make a phone where people get to choose there OS they'd like to have on it? I know, it's a little far fetch today but maybe not tomorrow.

Also, The Pre being flimsy? exactly how flimsy are we talking about. It's not paper thin and it doesn't bend like a bowflex. The battery life is great when not running multiple apps (which is users choice). OMG a choice?!? Do you have a choice iphone??? NO! The physical keyboard will always outdo a touchscreen keyboard. If you have big fingers, its a problem. What product doesn't have its pros and cons? Some phones are better suited for some people then others. There is no "best" phone period.

I have owned both phones. So I actually have a non-biased opinion on it. I can type 10 times faster on the Pre and that being with my eyes closed as well. Physical Keyboard >>> Touchscreen Keyboard. I've dropped my Pre a few times already and guess what? It DID NOT BREAK! What were you saying about build quality? Also, whats 3-1. 2. Thats still not a negative number, so there are still more sales then returns.

You know, its funny your arguments against the pre are the same repetitive points... I'd like to see you slam your iphone into the ground and see the glass not break. Try that one and let me know how it goes. Obviously its not "flimsy" because it's not made of plastic. But that also makes it much more fragile too. Palm, being a cell phone maker for quiet some time probably decided its best not to use glass because glass will break a lot easier from impact then plastic will.

The pre is in its 1st gen i think as it will get increasingly better but as will the iphone. the iphone is a step above the pre i believe and i have used both..

I'm glad you follow me around and know what phones i do and don't use and mess with. I actually have messed around with a Pre.. it's hardware is cheap and flimsy at absolute best. 1 in 3 are returned for hardware problems. The iPhone isn't perfect, but it makes significant strides with each release.. hardware and firmware. Call quality is all on AT&T, not Apple or the iPhone. Nice attempt though, troll.

The reason the iPhone outsold the Pre is bcuz it was the 1st decent multitouch phone 2 enter the market if the Pre or even tmobiles G1 had entered the market 1st they would hav mostly had the same success rate as iPhone bcuz they've been out for more thn 4 years, ppl rnt that cracked up about them nemore So getting a multitouch phone is a common thing now when the iPhone 3Gs came out did they hav lines of 100s of ppl or did they hav short little lines of 45 ppl in Chicago like the Pre

Lines aren't a sure sign of how sales will go. The 3GS had far shorter lines than the 3G but are ahead the 3G in sales for the same time period.

I'm not jumping on the palm pre bandwagon, but if I was going to buy that or the iphone I would take the palm pre, hands down. Yeah the iphone might be cheaper initially, but the monthly cost is higher. It also, to me, is not as nice a phone. Personally though, I'm holding out for an android phone that doesn't suck as much as the G1.

The iPhone is a much better phone than the Pre. Hardware especially. The Pre is a flimsy piece of junk. It literally feels like a cheap toy. The keyboard absolutely horrible. I can't emphasize that enough. As far as phones.. the HTC feels kinda cool. It wasn't a working model that i saw, so i don't know about the OS, but it feels nice and sturdy and has a nice keyboard.

It's not an iphone killer, and it doesn't look like it's going to outsell the iphone any time soon, and it may be the death of the palm brand. That says nothing about the merits of the phone though. I didn't say it's inferior because of the number sold. I was using the number sold to show my argument that no one really cares about the Pre and that it is in no way an iPhone killer, or even competition. The fact that since launch week, only 25k of the expected 114k per week are being sold proves my point. And even worse for Palm, 1 in 3 are being returned. A good product doesn't get returned 33% of the time.

I appreciate your opinion, but I haven't seen any of these problems in the palm pre. You claim the ipod is sooo superior, but it's just not. The deal breaker for me is the barely functioning on screen keyboard. I also think webOS looks a lot more promising than portable OSX.

Haha. Another update: Palm expected 117K Pres to be sold per week and they're selling, on average, about 25k per week now. Less than 1/4 of what they expected. To top that off, 1 in 3 Palm Pres being bought are returned. Good job, iPhone killer... buhahaha.
