One thing I like about Alanis is hearing all the flaws in her singing. When it cracks or she is out of breath or she is too nasally. It makes her feel so human and you are able share her unbridled passion. Some people get on her case for being strange but what they call strange, I call deep and honest. She is beautiful.
Got this album (on cassette!) when I was in high school, around '97 or so. I think I just about wore the tape out playing it every day. Then I got the CD, but sold it several years later when I'd kind of lost interest in Alanis and wasn't listening to it much anymore. Recently, though, I've been feeling nostalgic for this disc, so I re-bought it (and SFIJ, which I also owned and loved in my teens/20s) off Amazon yesterday evening. I don't think I'll sell them again...
i believe that listening to this song on repeat at age 8 effected my mental health and now i currently have bipolar disorder. good song nonetheless. ;)
For a second I thought it was pretty pathetic to listen to and totally love the album that your mom was a total fangirl to when she was as old as you... but then I remembered this was Alanis Morisette we were talking about and no longer cared.
I'm 21 years old and I grew up in the 90's. My mother would put this album on every Sunday when she cleaned house. At the time I hated it, but now I love and appreciate her for introducing Alanis to me. Her music is just phenomenal. I love it!
@layneeloo22 dude like no lie i am 21 too and my mom did the same thing and i never really thought of it till now how amazing Alanis Morissette's music is lol.
ah the 90's.... quite like the 70's... music will never be the same. music will never again be just music. now it is a market for sex symbols and auto tune :( what happened to writing, feeling, and performing for the love of music. passion...... true passion should never be lost...
I'm blown away by this song. It's such a powerfully emotional one and makes me wanna cry. Reminds me of when I was in Catholic school for 4 yrs. So many fond memories believe it or not. Had a tight group of friends and going to Mass was my sanctuary from my fucked up home life. I really love this version because she puts so much passion into her singing of it. I'm surprised that I haven't seen the 2006 Acoustic version on You Tube. Very powerful too. This has a harder edge but it's still great.

Yepper, my fav song off Jagged. I was a little late to the party. Picked up the album in 97, fell in love right away.

@stz2010
Well, it's your opinion and I won't judge you for it.
But I have to ask, why did you go all the way to this video to say that? Or did someone direct you to it?

Good times, to learn how to listen to music with my older brothers back in 95, Nirvana, Alanis, so awesome *.*
Whenever I need a break from shitty 00's music, I isolate myself from the rest of the world and listen to Alanis :)
