  • I find the Swedish Army SVEA marked stove is noticeably slower to bloom than the Trangia, but the fastest blooming one I have is a Chinese copy marketed by Hi-Gear in the UK.

    In weight order, ie how much brass there is to heat, the SVEA is the heaviest, then the Trangia, then the Hi-Gear. For the SVEA, I carry a tuna can lid that I've put three pop-rivets through. This acts as a pre-warmer and stops the burner losing heat to the ground.

  • @VintageSG Yes that is true if you don't prime the burner. I find that if you prime ether one of these burners then they bloom quite fast but not as fast as the smaller Trangia burner.
