  • this judo or aikido ?

  • it look like a half of Judo and half of Aikido xD

  • @SaintValentine1002 plz don't compare aikido with judo. it are martial arts with the same way of fighting that's without any strength. but judo is deffinitly different from aikido judo has more alot more techniques then aikido.

    greatings from the netherlands,

    arcania

  • @arcaniagothic2 i knew it, but judo and aikido is came from Jujitsu. however , they have some technique like each other. well , i'm playing Judo . it's the best sport :D

  • the three trained together, maeda, kano and kawaishi,in japan, maeda was gosen judo, kano kodokan judo, kawaishi aiki jitsu-kano stayed in japan, maeda ended up in brazil, kawaishi europe. All european jui jitsu early on came from kawaishi then spread via his senseis to australia and nz and canada.By the way tai-jitsu is from nin-jitsu,its their form of hand to hand, not the forerunner of jitsu.Aiki -jitsu is original of most modern forms, early styles were called another name a few hundred years ago

  • Sério que é o Jigoro Kano??

  • impresionante!

  • There are some videos on Gracies doing exhibitions. It's black and white but you will recognize Judo moves

  • This is not master Jigoro Kano executing ju no kata, but probably master Isogai Hajime, one of the few 10th dan given by Kano.

    Uke looks like Nagaoka.

  • This is not master Jigoro Kano executing ju no kata, but probably master Isogai Hajime, one of the few 10th dan given by Kano.

  • lol nobody understand

  • You can kill with a spoon, that doesn't make it an awesome weapon. Judo is a sport and a way of movement. Fullstop.

  • Ju no Kata?

  • yes...we all should be friends and respect each other..I practice vovinam, but i have a lot to learn form other stiles from other masters.

  • notice how different this is than the sport Judo one sees now. Or the muscle judo the west does. This is so gentle. Many times seems more like AikiJJ than what one would expect from Judo. Love it. I will stick with BJJ but it has become too sport focused as well.

  • Great performance on ju-no-kata

  • なんじゃこりゃ

  • doesn't the most off the techniques come from jjj??

  • great demonstration of attack, counter, and counter the counter kata. distribution of weight....footwork...everything done in a way that is incredibly well put together. Outstanding.

  • The ART IS only as GOOD as the ONE PAINTING IT.... that's with any style... TRAIN and TRAIN HARD... Be MASTER of ONESELF.... lemme ask this, If Ju Jitsu was perfected by : Eskimo's would it be called EJJ.... ahaha I'm a Judoka myself got a lil Muay Thai experience ..Really ta Me, JUDO is like the Yin & Ju Jitsu is the Yang....

  • Jigoro kano foi um grande mestre que inovou muito nas artes marciais. Mas no começo do video foi meio gay não acham?

  • Me irán a tratar de loco, pero si tuviera una máquina del tiempo, reuniría a estos peleadores y me gustaría ver estas peleas: Jigoro Kano vs. Ueshiba; Kimura vs. Rickson Gracie; Funakoshi vs. Yip Man; Huo Yinjia vs. Bruce Lee; Joe Louis vs. Muhamad Ali; Ken Shamrok vs. Chuck Norris; Wally Jay vs. Royce Gracie; Frank Dux vs. Choi Hong Hi;Joe Lewis vs. Oyama.

  • @rbrtdornel Bastante Loco!!!

  • What I just watched looked strangely like Aikido.............Now, let's quit debating BJJ and Judo, and decide if we just watched an Aikido video or a Judo video.

  • @Volgeblanc I wish I understood your language. But, I don't. I'm sorry.

  • @skrimpshidy No problem I understand yours. I wrote:On the contrary...Aikido & Judo came from Tai Jitsu...both. O-sensei Ueshiba trained for many years with the Grand Master Sokaku Takeda (Daitoryu Jiujitsu), something similar did Master Jigoro Kano. Both came out of the original JiuJitsu. The variation that "Count" Koma taught to the Gracie Family (Carlos & Helio), is Jiujitsu. He never called it "Brazilian". This is an euphemism or sales pitch. Best Regards from México!

  • @Volgeblanc no offense but ur not right. Taijutsu is the Japanese collective name given to hand to hand combat and all tradition Japanese martial arts. Ueshiba and Choi Yong Sool the founder of Hapkido trained in Daitoryu I think actually together at the same dojo. Kano founded Judo from different forms of Jujutsu. Maeda taught the Gracies the original Kodokan Judo b4 the rule change limiting time for newaza. This was called Kano Jiujitsu at the time, hence the confusion but they learned Judo.

  • @Jimmynable Right: Taijutsu is a generic name. But not Jiu Jitsu. Maeda ( Count Koma) taught a different style of Jiu Jitsu and Kano Jiu Jitsu (which was modified after a terrible defeat), then named Judo. Wrong: Neither Maeda nor Kano named an offspring style "Brazilian", or "French" or "German" or "Mexican" Jiu Jitsu. Thus, Carlos Gracie split from Helio. And so did Carlson Gracie (R.I.P). No style was found in the natives of Brazil by the spaniards. Everything came from outside!

  • @Volgeblanc Ah I see where ur coming from. True Maeda never named anything just taught Carlos and Helio what he knew. My understanding is that Maeda only had training in Judo and Sumo, never heard of him doing any traditional Jiujitsu training. Maeda was also a no holds barred fighter and so taught the Gracies techniques without the gi and about phases like of striking, grappling, ground I think Carlos' side of the family were more into that Helio's more into gi grappling and self defence.

  • @Jimmynable Maeda traveled around the globe, and exchanged techniques with numerous fighters, wrestlers, etc. Many Gracies participate in Olympic Judo, thus honoring their roots. The Machados have successfully competed in Sambo. Carlos jiu jitsu version is more onto fighting. He always defeated Helio (R.I.P). I salute to true Jiu Jitsu!! Not to cheap versions of anything!!

  • @Volgeblanc Ah I see what u mean, ofc Maeda would have picked things up from the guys he fought. Good to talk to someone who knows their history. There's a problem now IMO that there's a lot of ppl taking advantage of the popularity of MMA and grappling and start teaching when they don't really know what they are doing. Like a good deal of the videos on youtube. That's why its best to cross train in arts where u have to be qualified to teach it, like Judo, Jiu jitsu, etc.

  • We quarrel about styles while bathing in the filth of our own egos because MMA has poisoned people into a state of "artistic amnesia". We have stepped beyond our station and lost the true essence of the individual styles by commercializing the arts. Everybody wants their style to be the best, forgetting that the purpose of martial arts is self improvement, and that it is not the style that wins the fight. But honestly, the arguments are kind of intriguing and evocative sometimes. Just my opinion

  • @Gothamzfinest: You're letting your bias towards MMA cloud your judgment, however I think you're right overall. Martial artists were insulting each other's styles way before MMA got popular, it's a weak-minded tendency that some martial artists have that will probably never go away. It ties into the same mentality as "My country is better than your country, my race is better than your race, my religion is better than your religion" and so forth.

  • @Gothamzfinest Hit. The. Nail. On. The. Head.

  • beautiful.

  • juijitsu and judo. i ejoy it both just as much.

  • They are demonstrating Judo kata, the formal exercise of the system and rarely seen today.

  • The "Judo vs (B)Jiu Jitsu argument is kinda baseless. Ancient judo and modern (Brazilian jiu jitsu) are essentially the same thing.

  • @holidayrap They are both products of Japanese jujitsu.

  • This kata is called Ju No Kata. You need to learn it for the 5th dan of black belt

  • does anyone know what this kata is called? I know many of these moves and I'd like to ask my sensei about it.

  • Comment removed

  • i am both a judoka and a jujitsu player. please stop with the judo vs jujitsu comments.

  • i actually trained this Kata

    this is a special Kata

i think it is supposed for elderly people

those people can not fall that well

  • This looks much more like traditional Japanese jujutsu than judo...does this style still get taught in this way or is it just throwing and groundwork wherever you go?

  • Good video, Judo the Best !!

  • jiujitsu isjust more work on the ground, my sensei learns jiu jutsu and teaches judo.... my sensei is AWESOME!

  • Not boring. Beautiful body movement. Reminds me a bit of stuff we do in Aikido. I new Kano was a fan of Aikido.

  • are they two ancient dancers?

    little bit boring

  • I'm sure it's a judo demonstration, but it's a shame that these days, you don't see any of these techneques anymore.

  • There is no better martial art then an other one but there are better fighthers

  • Judo-Jiu Jitsu - there is no better or worse! You can decide what martial art you want to learn and each of them has its advantages. I started off with Judo but later on, i also leanred jiu jitsu and krav maga and every one is useful to me. Btw, i know that im one day too late, but anyway: Happy Birthday Kano-san!

  • japanese ju jitsu - judo- brazilian bjj- rubberguard

  • judo is jujitsu lol look it up on wikki

  • @Iightbreaker No, Jigoro Kano was a jiu-jitsuka, he developed a martial art that is very similar, but with very different emphasis on certain points, which makes judo a different sport....it does come in handy though with jiu-jitsu

  • @Iightbreaker yea a modified version of japanese ju jitsu not BJJ

  • I am training Japaneese Ju Jitsu and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I am thinking of doing some judo in summer-times and my throws. Personally, I would like to train Judo as well but it is impossible for me to that.

  • Warm up exercises based around training drills, very interesting.

  • judo, sambo, catch wrestling, brazillian jiu jitsu, lute livre. whatever.

all have essentially the same goal. only different histories, methods and philosophies on how the goal should be reached. personally, i think we should abandon all the names and history and just call it grappling.

  • This is ju-no-kata. If you can get hold of a book called Kata (T.P Legget), it includes a step-by-step description of this kata (as well as nage and katame), with images taken from this video.

BTW, it is an excellent book for any kata practitioner to own.

  • 机上の空論野郎め

    こいつが柔道をスポーツに貶めた

  • sambo > judo and jiu jitsu fedor > all

  • Ones who know and train regularly say little to nothing. Judo is Judo. Just be aware nothing is perfect and complete. The truth is that practitioners do not need a perfect martial art.

  • zuprize butt secks!

  • this is gay sex

  • train ninjutsu and you will have both in one art...

  • i'm more on the judo side, but i honestly agree witrh everyone here. i mean BOTH arts and EVERY art of martial arts are AWESOME.

  • Thanks to Jigoro we have Judo and Jiu Jitsu!

  • This is awesome, I'm really glad I had the opportunity to see this. Thank you for posting :)

  • Rorion Gracie, in an interview for Aiki Journal said (paraphrasing here) that the true difference between the Gracie style and the traditional Japanese Jujitsu is their teaching methodology & training style which focuses more on feeling out a technique rather than trying to apply a technique when the opening isn't there. It is a great historical interview and can be found on line through the Aiki Journal website. Well worth reading as Rorion really spells out the differences. A Great Read.

  • Just to throw a historical notes in The first people to "investigate" the Gracies were the Kodokan. Meada was a High level Judo man that was not given permission by Kano to teach Judo. He taught the Gracies his original Jujitsu style which you can find if you search or Kosen Judo The Kosen practitioners were the only style to beat Kanos group. Kano went away, spent time developing his ground work & came back to beat the Jujitsu people He then Incorporated the Jujisu people into the Kodokan.

  • trousers are way illegal...

  • ;D yeah*

  • DESDE CIUDAD JUAREZ, MUCHAS GRACIAS POR ESTE VIDEO, MERCI.

  • Grazie per questo video ! ! !

  • Incredible footage, thank you for posting.

  • its Juno Kata eh ?

  • haha.. this video is funny! but hey, we wouldn't see the techniques we see today if they didn't evolve from this. it's like watching ufc 1 to 7 videos..you'd think those guys had no idea what to actually do in mma but if they didn't start it, the sport wouldn't be what it is today. my point is, this video is a treasure indeed. it's a good thing this video survived. :)

  • i don't see how this art can win another one (kung fu, twd, karate...)

  • Judo is a great art, but it was created with copy-and-paste from Ju-Jitsu.

Don't misunderstand me: I Love Judo.

  • actually no, you can still kill with Judo. And Jigoro did make it better, its less sloppy and you use your opponents weight and aggression to defeat him.

  • @noxmusiq like jiu jitsu, you use your opponents weight and aggression to defeat him...specially the brazillian variation wich started with count Koma (Japanese Judoka/JiuJitsu fighter, Kano's student) and perfectioned by Carlos and Helio Gracie... ;)

  • hey my last comment got cut off! grr what I meant to say is that this is JUDO not Jujutsu :D

  • this is Judo!

  • not Jujutsu, its Judo. This is Jigoro Kano's technique, improved Jujitsu and took it to another level. BWT its not

  • took it to another level? he reduced it to a lower level, a safer level that made it suitable for not killing your opponent.

  • @chucknorrispranks Have you been thrown onto the ground before? Do you know how painful and dangerous it is?... Not a killing level?

The only thing which makes it non lethal are tatami mats, rules and the fact that we do not plan to kill our own dojo mates dumb ass.

  • mano... o kra é FODA ! ! ! :]

  • i believe the gracies learned from a student of jigoro kano only it wasnt called judo but kano jujjitsu back then hence brazilian jujitsu otherwise it wouldve probably been called brazilian judo, bjj is actually much more like the way judo was before it was influenced by sports like the olympics etc

  • @henkbana good summary

  • from my research gracie jujitsu was around the same time judo was. BJJ started with Helio gracie and they were better than most judo students; so, Judo's best student (Masahiko Kimura) fought Helio, and owned him really quickly and broke his arm. Kano wanted to spread the word of Judo and have it in sport....just not in the way it is now

  • @tkd4life You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

  • Maeda wasn't his student, he was a classmate, and he was already in late middle age when he instructed Carlos and Helio when they were children.

  • Awesome Jujutsu!!

  • Wooow! Great! Some good old stuff... I´m totally impressed. Thanks for uploading. Greetings.

  • Also, If anyone of you reach the highest dan in both arts, only THEN you are able to tell if one of them is "better" or not.

  • Now, people I decided to after this argument you have here. I asked my judo sensei, and a jj sensei, and they BOTH said the same thing:

" Jigoro Kano did not actually invent a whole new system, as he used many techniches from ju-jutsu, aikido, and even american street-fighter things (kata-guruma for example). The only things he declined were those techinques, that were too lethal, or could kill someone. Judo came from JJ, so there is no such thing as better or lesser."

  • Kata guruma came from a wrestling manual he read, not street fighting, as its a wrestling move, not a street fighting move. But yeah, otherwise I agree with what you say.

  • In all the comments is something missing i guess. When Kano Jigoro created Judo, there where many stiles of Ju-jutsu, and it was traditional Japanese Ju-jutsu, not the Brazilian JJ we see today. The Ju-jutsu in kano's time was more like Aikido, off course there where schools that had newaza.

  • the GODDAMM judo v jiujitsu arguement again. jesus.

  • ahhahahhahahhaa

  • @FartJokeResearchLabs I like traditional Yoshin ryu and Goshin Jujitsu but not Brazilian/Gracie Jujitsu.

Why you ask? Because the Gracie have no originality but to take techniques from Judo and have the nerve to have all these videos of BJJ vs. other arts. And to prove what? Until the Gracies say their art is a style of Judo and admit to the fact that Helio Gracie was LEGITIMATELY beaten a superior opponent(Kimura) then I will respect BJJ.

  • @samluke8121

thank you all bjj is judo with english names. the gracie will never admit that 99 of there martial art is judo. atleast kano said that his martial art came from jujitsu. the only reason judo and traditional jujitsu is not as famous is becase judo dident make a bloodsports to show how better it is against martial arts.

  • @FartJokeResearchLabs Exactly! I do Japanese JuJitsu AND Judo... They are both awesome. We should all just get along.

Doing Judo makes my JuJitsu better... The two arts compliment each other.

  • @FartJokeResearchLabs And the worse part is that many people don't even know what Jiujitsu is and they just compare it with the so called Brazilian Jiujitsu! And, of course, the marketing/advertisement is always there! :-( What those people with all their advertisement and marketing about BJJ did is just a disgrace to all the martial arts.

  • @maidanac dude, i'm sick of the whole debate, and that includes your comment. stop picking sides -- just crosstrain or leave it alone.

  • Eddie Bravo proves that you don't even need to stand to win in grappling. When i see judokas grappling/throwing off one knee than i'll agree BJJ might have some flaws. I like both but Bravo destroys in jiu-jitsu.

  • huh?

  • i don't know why we are always quarreling about judo and jiu jitsu! i'm a judoka who loves judo but also bjj, in fact sometimes we train with people that comes from jj and both arts complement each other perfectly (the idea of both arts and the system is the same)...so i think judokas and bjj we must be together and traing together and leave the excess of self confidence we all might have! sorry for my bad english i'm from argentina! greetings!!

  • @johnsalchijohn

Great point of view. both arts are great!

  • @johnsalchijohn you are rigth, both arts have common roots in ancient Samurai Jujutsu. If you practice both you can unlock the true power of it's old (and real) techniques. Saludos

  • @johnsalchijohn you are correct sir - all grappling arts compliment each other - no use trying to argue which art is superior - good to hear some sense on here for once.

  • @johnsalchijohn

Your English explanation was fine and I agree 100%.

  • @johnsalchijohn ¡Muy bien dicho amigo!

  • This is a cool vid. However Judo and BJiuJitsu are different but the same. I cant actually comment on bjj, all i will say is that i want to learn it too some day ok?

  • BJJ is very weak in comparision to Judo. Even true Ju-Jitsu is weak compared to Judo, hence when Kano Sensei first created Judo, his class was able to succesfully defeat Ju-Jitsu practitioners!

  • if bjj is weak, then why do some people prefer bjj than judo? how do bjj users beat judo users if your so called judo is superior?

the grappling arts are very similar with different techniques in order to achieve the same goal : Get dominant position and win.

The style is only a tool. One style does not beat another. It all depends on the person.

  • @tosxpert BJJ is a watered down version of the Japanese style. A BJJ practicioner does not have the etiquette or the form compared to a true Ju-Jitsu practicioner. I do not do Judo or Ju-Jitsu to "get a dominant position and win". That mentality is the reason 99.9% of BJJ is weak compared to Judo.

  • 1) There was a two combat advantage diference in that ocation.

    2) Jigoro Kano was a Jujutsu practicioner.

    3) Kano´s student never faced a bjj practicioner, thus your comment is senseless.

    4) In valetudo rules bjj practicioners dominated judukas in countless times.

  • @Cuythulu i'm afraid you are only half correct about 3), look up kosen judo and you'll see that they (the kodokan judokas) had fought numerous opponents who used primarily newaza

  • it is true competitions were held to test which art was ''better'', and the jj practitioners were defeated..

what most people dont know is that they were defeated by jj practitioners!

at that time all of kano's students were jiu jitsukas before studying judo..

so bad argument, jiu jitsu is the best combat system, and judo is the best tool for education and preservation of budo.

  • I thought the reason Kano Sensei created judo because jiu-jitsu was too rough and dangerous, so he came up with a solution that still gives you the upperhand. But your opponent doesn't get permanently injured as a result.

And I think we can agree that some jiu-jitsu techniques, when done right can leave you paralyzed

  • that is percisely why he created judo.

and personally i rather judo to jujitsu but thats just me.

  • I do both right now, judo on competition level and jiu-jitsu for additional groundwork

But the way some people use jiujitsu for mma... I don't think I would ever like that

  • @bla7091 almost; he was a professor teaching at a college and he was getting frustrated that many of his students were getting too injured to turn up to their lessons. or so the story goes anyway!

  • Ju No Kata, one of my favorite Katas of Judo. I think it should be learned in third order after Nage No Kata and Katame No Kata. This kata not only provide body flexibility also provide particular mind flexibility. Originally was the only Kata for women. Jigoro Kano Sensei seems so natural in this performance I would like to reach this level too. Amazing document!

  • do you know whats the kimura?

, the name of kimura its an armlock call in the brazilian jiu jitsu, it was gaven lika a name in a honor to a japanese judoka called by the same name,he defeat to helio gracie the father of jiu jitsu, you need read more

  • there is weight differences...hate to bring in Brock Lesnar but why cant no one beat him?

  • i hate to bring fedor emelianenko, but he has fought against fighters like hong man choi or sammy schilt just to say someones, they are so over weight against fedor's weight , and he defeated all of them and any one couldnt ever beat fedor , brock lessnar he's not a really champion against the record of fedor the emperor emelianenko ,comeon bjj1987

  • someone show me a video of a judo guy beating a bjj guy?

  • You think that Bjj players are superior?

  • just show us a video

  • You are a moron to only accept a video. Do you honestly think that BJJ is the end all be all?

  • did i say it was? let me check my comments...didnt think so, you just one of those people who make situations so they can use the same old defense. all i asked was for video proof which is the strongest proof in a debate...just to give you insight i train both bjj and kodokhan judo, if you would like i will make a video and demonstrate. anyways...i train both and when i first began judo we done randori which everytime my instructor thrown me we landed on the ground but what happened?

  • i submitted him...as well as when we train newaza. example: boxer weak spot is on the ground, wrestler weak spot is their back and neck for basic guillotine when they take a shot.

judo they help you get to the mat then u submit

  • bjj1987:

Kazuhiro Nakumura (a Judoka) beat Murilo Bustamante (a BJJ practitioner.) That took me about .5 seconds to think of an example. I can name more if you wish......

  • please cite your findings.

  • To the people who keep saying "Maeda Jiu-Jitsu" you are wrong, Maeda never trained jujutsu he was a Judoka, it should really be "Maeda Judo" or "Brazilian Judo"

  • Dr. Kano is a total bad ass

  • Ju No Kata great :)

  • videos like this are the penultimate use of youtube

  • OSU

  • 1:35 hi fiveeee

  • what is being viewed is ju no kata forms. It is fabulous that this tape is available. It is mune -oshi tsukiage katate-dori along with katae- age ..thank you..

  • oh, and thanks for replying =]

  • It's no problem, And imho BJJ really is'nt something all that revolutionary in the world of grappling. Like you said, the Kosen style of judo emphasises the newaza. What you may not know is that it also has all 67 of the original kodokan throws and takedowns as well. So if you were looking for something that offered more than your current school this may be an option. My philosophy is to keep an open mind to all Martial styles and not accept anything as gospel until it's proven as more effective

  • thanks for sharing bro :)

  • Ya, u defending your fellow cavemen. YOU GOD DAMN IGNORANT DELUSIONAL MORON. A delusion is a lie you want to create as reality. WTF do cavemen have to do with Maeda transferring his knowledge to Gracie and in gratitude names THE FREAKIN ART AFTER HIMSELF! What kind of egotistical jackass does that. WTF do cavemen like your retarded self wrestling like retards have to do with an organized and sophisticated fighting system. All animals wrestle in some way, ur monkeyass should know.

  • Ok, The Gracie's NOT HAVE KNOWN ANYTHING without the foundation that Maeda developed through fighting thousands of fighters throughout the world with all the knowledge of Judo. IT IS NOT BRAZILIAN JUI JITSU, IT IS MAEDA JUI JITSU!!!!! The Philosophy, techniques, uniforms EVERYTHING IS BASED ON MAEDA'S JAPANESE ASS NOT SOME ALBINO JUNGLE MONKEY RETARD FROM BRAZIL. Greco Wrestling does not exist. It is based on entertainment wrestling moves invented only in the late 1800's.

  • This is Ju No Kata! I'm Just learning it, brill to see performed by THE master and founder of Judo.

  • im brazilian and im a bjj practioner and i still didnt find anyone who could tell me the difference between bjj and regular jiu jitsu

  • To start BJJ is mainly based off of Judo which is based off of two original japanese schools of jujutsu the Tenshin-Shinyo and the Kito-Ryu. But one of the main differences between BJJ and traditional Jujutsu is that BJJ doesn't incorporate almost any of the standing takedowns, throws,or standing joint manipulations of jujutsu. It uses what the Gracie's refer to as simplified judo takedowns and an extreme emphasis on the Ne waza. Whereas Jujutsu employs many standing techniques.Does that help?

  • yes, it does

its true, we dont learn much if any takedowns in bjj classes here in brazil

theres is a school of judo that also focus on newaza though. its called kosen judo. you can find here on youtube.

  • Your absolutely right :) There are many different styles of Judo today including the kosen. The style I train in focuses on the older kodokan principles, Mainly the use of physics and bio-mechanics instead of brute strength to throw. And it differs from other clubs because we learn the Atemi waza (striking techniques)along with our nage waza and ne waza. And I forgot to say it in the last comment but I have nothing but respect for BJJ,and did not mean to offend u or your school.

  • dont worry, i was not offended

ppl here in brazil are euphoric about bjj and the gracie family. i just wanted to know if theres really something new that you can call bjj or if its just marketing

  • oh, that's right! Forgot about that... wrestling is just about holds - which is why its pretty uselss in a life or death fight, if not to escape being dominated on the ground. Judo and BJJ are both useful for self defense, but you should always know striking as well, I think. A balance is better than bias.

  • and europe... wrestling anyone? unless you mean newaza as in just japanese arts instead of ground techniques in general.

  • In fact the most effective fighitng systems originated in Asia. Modern armies use techniques that Samurai's used 700 years ago. Japan is hella tight, they create more technology more than all of Europe combined (20% of the world's technology).

  • Regardless if Newaza is not practice as often, Brazilian jujitsu would not exist without Mitsuyo Maeda THE REAL BJJ creator not Gracie. Gracie was a student, it shouldn't be called Gracie Jujitsu, it should be called MAEDA JUJITSU. Brazilians are thieves trying to credit themselves for a fighting system that the Samurai's created. Anyway, the vast majority of the moves in BJJ have already existed for centuries in Japan. Brazilian fighting IS NOTHING WITHOUT JAPANESE TECHNIQUES.

  • I agree entierly with your post, Mitsuyo Maeda does`nt get any respect he was the true father of MMA. He was the one who crossed trained with Greco Roman and Cathc wrestlers as well Boxing and Karate he was the one who enganged in 2000 no holdes barred fights around the world and had won them all. Even thiygh I train at a "BJJ" place I always refered to it as Maeda Jujutsu and my training partners give me a strange look. As the saying goes "There is nothing new under the Sun"

  • Excellent video

  • he is doing the ju no kata
