An easier way to remove backround if it is a solid is 1st add Alpha channel then use select by color.

I am also on Drunk Duck! I am the one who did the other GIMP comic tutorial. But I showed how to take the sprites directly out of the game! I guess I should show a couple more videos on how to get the programs like ZSNES and the roms and GIMP....

Oh, don't worry. This video is about a year old, back when 2.4 had come out. I started off with 2.2 btw, and if you get a higher version, it will probably be better. :)

best place to get sprites is either sdb[dot]drshnaps[dot]com, the spriters resource, or they mystical forest zone. You can google all of these too.

! when i try to put a sprite on the panels it's still white around it and when i go to file it only says open recent

To get rid of the white around sprites, you have to use the transparent wand to get rid of unwanted areas. Simply select it, click on the white parts, and press ctrl+x. As for the file it part, it may be because the download was not downloaded properly.

It's in a GIMP 2.2 pack. You'd have to get an old version of GIMP for it.

Remember to post the sprite bg on a transparent layer above the page first. Then apply a shadow. It should work out. Keep moving around your layer's and trying.
