  • Leaving a comment b/c I wouldn't want either of you for an enemy. Thanks, btw. This was sort of like sitting around chatting at a barbecue. Only with better place and character references.

  • @calichef1962 LOL, no we could be pretty scary if you made enemies of us, really ;^) Glad you enjoyed the video!

  • @MrStratoStrut Thank you!

  • Hey, Ken, you predicted in the video that we'd get 150 views, and now we've got 192. Think big, big guy!!

  • @MichaelLydon I like to under-promise and over-deliver; it's such a pleasant change from everybody else doing the opposite ;^)

  • Phenomenal get togther! Rolling Stone would not exist today had Michael not been a part of it. To be both artist and writer during the time of the Second Renaissance is something we can only dream about. Very cool.

  • @Rikotistic Only dream, true... What we'd give to just have a few of his memories, right?

  • Kudos! I'm speechless. This is very impressive on so many levels. Excellent job!

  • @steve5674 I thought you might enjoy Michael ;^)

  • Wonderful..HugZ

  • @kismet0717 Thanks!

  • Lydon loves ya and so we, Mr. K! Good interview, very cool.

  • @not2tees Thanks!

  • That was cool.

  • @thefrozenghost It certainly was.

  • You know some cool people. :D Rock'n'Roll reporting sounds dreamy but I wouldn't change my job to that. LOL Thanks for sharing this interesting interview.

  • @LadyDiWolfe You have a better job that rock journalist? I wanna be you! ;^)

  • @kenrg I know. Everybody dreams to be a nerdy wolf girl. ;P

  • This was a fascinating interview. I loved it.

  • @Dlorezzz Thank you!

  • Ok, Okayyy, since you threatened me I'll comment.

Loved the video. When I first glanced at the thumbnail I thought you were doing a clone video:)

  • @3CoolKats I'll take that as a compliment, since Michael is officially known as the "handsomest man alive." It's true, just ask him.

  • Don't hurt me, Kenrg.

    I like to watch.

  • @TooLooseLeTrek Watching is good :^)

  • Excellent video. I love stuff like this.

    Frank

  • @ockteby Great - Glad you enjoyed!

  • As a minor point of interest, "Lydon" sounds like the German word "Leiden", "suffering", or "leiden", "to suffer".

So, when will you be doing the "One star in sight"-recital? :D

  • @garouHH Hmmmm... he didn't look like he was suffering... And I think he said his background is Irish, but then, that would also involve suffering... ah well. Yes, the poem is on the looong list of ideas for a rainy day.

  • well, well, well my pallie makes youtube again and thats great for youtube. Michael Lydon a great song writer a great guitarist and singer and the most handsome man in the world. i'll always be a fan .....oh......and a pallie.bless you .gk

  • @Gennarokravitz He is quite handsome, but I'm the friendliest. Don't forget that ;^)

  • We've all been there and done stuff in the 60's...I had a ball in the art world in London...late 60's/70's. But all passes into ...well past tense I guess....but we are still here...some still creating...others not..

  • @xyzllii Still creating is a good thing - Thanks for stopping by!

  • Meeting Janis, Jimi, Keith, Mick, etc was great, but nothing like the thrill of meeting Kenrg, Youtube gigastar!!

  • @MichaelLydon I have that effect on people. I think it's the drugs. It was great to see you, and to meet Ellen, your brother, his wife, etc. I'm sure we'll get together again whenever I can get back out to NYC next. Thanks for lunch and a great video!

  • Hey Ken and Michael,

(I'd better respond or I know you're comin' after me because you know my name.) Nice to see you both together. I was honored that you used my clip in your collaboration. Hope I can, in turn, continue to use both of you as a models for e-journalism and video postings in my limited venues because, as Michael says, "You're really, really good." And I have learned from you both that, "this is tons of fun."

  • @CApoppy It was our pleasure and honor to have your clip as part of that project! And I thought you were my model? Well, maybe we can all inspire each other...

  • I really enjoyed this vid. Wow, Michael has met and interviewed some of the greatest musicians of all time...

  • @MGABBYB The amazing thing is that he was there, around all those drugs, and still manages to remember that he was there... ;^)

  • How cool to have been around at that time and those people. Must have been lot's of great conversation off camera also.

    (Humming Bellamy Brothers "Old Hippie")

  • @jrsnyderjr Yes, much off-camera conversation - This is just five minutes out of a three and a half our visit. But you got the best five minutes ;^)

  • It sounds like he's probably met a fair number of the people responsible for the albums in my music collection! Great video interview!!!

  • @blackturtleshow Definitely - What I have on LP (or CD) he experienced live and in 3D. Very cool.

  • Interesting video bet he has many good stories.

  • @bearchay889 I'm sure he does - (and he'd probably like us to buy his books to read them!)

  • Hi Ken, thank you so much for sharing this conversation. Lydon seems a very interesting person. It must be great to have seen, from the front row, history in the making. Just taking part in the first edition of Rolling Stone magazine is amazing... Sometimes I just wish I could be so lucky as to have been alive during the 60's or 70's, those seem like great times to be young, especially in America or the U.K.... :)

  • @flan984 Yes, it would have been great to have been a participant in all that - I was alive, but as I said to him, while he was interviewing the greats, I was still listening to the Chipmunks Sing Beatle Hits.

  • Wow. Amazing interview. I've been a fan of Rolling Stone magazine since I was in high school -- I can only imagine the stories Michael can tell! Gonna check out his channel!

  • @anakin1814 Great stories - And a great guy. Glad you enjoyed.

  • @kenrg Seeing simple interview videos like this makes me realize how great of a medium we still have here with YouTube. Very inspirational!

  • Great vid Bro... Not sure we could find a mean bone in your body without digging... he he

    Good to hear Michaels' Reminiscence...

  • @PappyStu Well, I'm sure there are some who will testify that you don't need to dig too far... But they're not pressing charges just yet.

  • "Writing about music is like dancing about architecture."

"Music journalism is written by people who can't write to be read by people who can't read." F Zappa.

But this was another great video. Imagine travelling with the Dead. That must have been a life changer!

And he's right about you Ken. A true Gem!

  • @periurban I guess old Frank never met our Michael ;^)

  • I have a feeling i could listen to that guy for hours.

Thanks for sharing Ken. I'm going to check out his channel :)

  • @andymooseman I did listen to him for hours! And it was all as interesting as this little taste.

  • Our (my) generation had the BEST music around! I always enjoyed reading "The Rolling Stones" magazine. Nice guy that Michael! You're not so bad yourself Ken........BTW, I'm in my late 50's.

  • @Momotaro15 He's nice, but I'm friendlier. It's been scientifically proven.

  • Legendary!! That's awesome Ken.

  • @audionautix Thanks!

  • Very cool. And Ken, you ARE the friendliest person around!!! Must have really been something to travel around like that back in that time. To meet Jimi and Janis...well, wow!

  • @PaintedRavensong What a life he's had... Jimi... Janis... and me! Lucky guy ;^)

  • Threatening us to leave a comment? Well I just won't do it and you can't make me! So there.

Nice interview. I enjoyed 'meeting' him.

  • @thizizliz Okay, you're right; don't leave a comment.

  • @kenrg Don't bully me! I can't be dared like that you know! Hey, Happy Tuesday.

  • leaving comment so you dont come after me.

    very cool interview.

  • @CrappyCartoons You did well.

  • I've never thought of Rolling Stone as being a fanzine and always expected the journalism to be trustworthy. I can only imagine the exciting life Michael Lydon has lived -- and he doesn't seem spoiled at all!

  • @liz1060 Very exciting, and very lucky to have been at the right place at the right time to have lived all that.

  • I like how he approaches music fandom. Frig the starry eyed bullshit - gifted musicians should be recognized for their gifts and their contributions.

    :-)

And Lydon is right. You ARE the friendliest guy on YouTube, Ken.

  • @OhCurt That's it, my new hook, "Friendliest Guy on YouTube" - and if folks don't like it, they can just screw themselves! And screw The Carpenters too, while you're at it!

  • Interesting!

  • @Menn019 He is!

  • @kenrg The first chance i can, i show this one to my oldman!!

Sure he will love to see this!

  • Cool interview guys. Guess I'll never make the cover of the Rolling Stone!

  • @MrRandomWritings I can barely sing the song about making the cover of the Rolling Stone!

  • @kenrg It has a peculiar Hook Doctor

  • That's an interesting historical perspective... Good interview!

  • @fehquig Thanks - He's a very interesting and very nice guy.
