as for conan, he has proven to write some really good gigs and such, but he is on the wrong track to say, be a Carson type icon. The thing with Carson was, he was honestly real. He was current with-out being just plain silly. He did not rely on shock gags as so many have done for way too long in comedy and the movies even. Life is funny yet serious in every direction, people have so many inside thoughts and feelings that if you hit on them amazing things happen. It has to at least appear real.

I think he and all the other writers who did well after the strike played politics to get ahead, which is life. But I won't over rate them as so many do, he has a cult style following, like JW does. To me that does not rate as "star quality" although well earned and appreciated neither dude isthe entertainer as, well say Prince. JW has given us alot but I think to call him a real star he needs to find something and really shine at it, not the little bit of all and brag it deal

well I guess one could make that statement, but then again stray cats played & lived the part,. Also, Setzer really was a car guy who did the garage band small gig deal for a long time, made good. His band wrote a ton of hits playing the genre, one could even place the big band revival w/their works.
