And JKD has almost the same Philosophy like MMA. one of the main philosophy of Bruce Lee was to remove all that form/pose and concentrate more on the battle + impact + defense, rather than to waste energy on some moves and poses that makes in a real fight no sense. so yeah, that form shit is not necessary. look at Bruce Lee, jumping and moving like the Boxer Muhammad Ali

You intercept their strike and hit them at the same time, its the best street fighting style for sure..search wing chun lesson 18 to see how the main blocks work

@whatugundo traditional wing chun is risky against a takedown opponent because you stand flat footed, bruce lees jeet kun do uses wing chun in a practical way, 70 30 foot positioning prevents any takedown because they can only grab the front leg, and you can always take that step backwards to cancel out their tackle. Wing chun is the best against strike attempts and returns the favor with strikes to vulnerable points on the body, most of it would be illegal in mma.

@whatugundo Its pretty much a sprawl without going to the ground, they have to grab your legs to tackle you. by having the side stance with your legs further apart than usual, they can only grab the front leg..if they do manage to grab it you can take a step back with the back leg and lean your body forward at the same time, canceling out his leverage. at the very least you should have a few seconds where hes struggling to pick you up which you could land strikes
