I know that at the emmy's he was the the woman he's been with for a long time, so I think he was just going along with Paulina. He doesn't really talk about the relationship plus he often made jokes about being single even though he wasn't so. I think he just talks about being single so that he has something to talk about when there really isn't much to talk about, and that way he can keep the relationship private. (I hope this makes sense to at least one person here)
