  • @MissILoveMusic13 Honey, you don't know nothing about this musical apparently, she was the original Broadway Annie, the best of all the Annies, inform yourself first.

  • @Jeannekm126 I wrote that comment ages ago I'll admit at the time I didn't know about her then but, you shouldn't say I don't know anything about the musical coz I just finished my high school production of annie and I played her and got some amazing comments. I will go back and delete my comment coz I forgot about it before otherwise I would have, sorry.

  • The one and only Annie ever. !!!!!

  • MissILoveMusic, this is a concert featuring Andrea McArdle who was Annie on the original Broadway cast.

  • @oneworldguy Thankyou, I do know that now that I just played annie I'm gonna delete it so i don't get anymore comments Thanks again.

  • Comment removed

  • @MissILoveMusic13 Do your homework

  • @nickbigd I seriously don't get why everyone is being so rude to me. I made a mistake. I found out about her during rehearsals which was after I wrote that comment. I've deleted my comment and I just played Annie in my production and spent a term learning the play - I think my homework is done. Please don't be rude. You probably didn't intend it but you could at least tell me nicely like @oneworldguy did.

  • @MissILoveMusic13, I don't know why people think it is okay to be rude. I think they forget that some people don't realize these things. I tell younger people today about Patti LuPone (I'm 31 so she was big even before I knew who she was) and they're like, "Huh?"

By the way, did you also know that Sara Jessica Parker was also Annie in the original Broadway production? (Andrea McArdle was original CAST.) Whenever a girl playing Annie "developed," they would need a younger actor.

  • @oneworldguy Well I know who Patti LuPone is and I'm only 14 haha and yeah I did know about Sarah Jessica Parker and I think she was a great Annie! Thanks for being so nice!

  • I love Andrea's voice! it's so breath taking!

  • I know Andrea!

  • I saw her in the original show on B'way and this clip made even me weepy! that IS her song no matter how many decades pass!

  • it is always great when original artists reprise there rolls... regardless of the time that has passed, Tomorrow will always be Andrea's song....

  • I STILL get chills hearing her sing this song, even more so in this rendition. Her adult voice is so smooth and lilting. I have goosebumps!

  • I actually saw Andrea do it on Broadway in the original cast and Loved her! She was awesome then and even better now :)

  • i love how she still moves and has the same facial expression as when she was a kid singing it :D

  • I hope she never gets tired of singing it cause I never get tired of hearing her. She is an original and will always be the best. Simply wonderful to relive. No one will ever compare.

  • Wow. Her voice just flows.

  • shes the first and best annie of all time

  • Wow, this chick can still sing.

  • she is going to be on the today show tomorrow.Apparently she is going back on broadway or tour to play the role of lilly in annie

  • @wicked9fan nahh miss hanigan

  • I don't think anyone has ever sung this song as well - It's not just a peppy upbeat "song of hope" - she invests the song with the tension of present sadness that is usually absent - This, I think, gives her interpretation a lot more depth

  • Actually, to be fair, the 1982 movie was pretty good. I rather like Aileen Quinn. The 1992 version wasn't as good. Niether were as good as Andrea McArdle though. It's a shame she couldn't have made a film while she was still a kid. They did make a TV special though. Someone should post that if they can.

  • the movie annie, blows, broadway revival annie, blows, 1999tv movie annie, ok,

ANDREA MCARDLE ANNIE, THE BEST ANNIE TO THIS DAY

  • i'd tap that

  • you have to look the version from COCO WATTS of this song. It's better than this.

  • Amazing!!!

  • one of the most beautiful songs ever written.

  • I met andrea and know here mother she is so down to earth and what people dont know she is really funny...NYC producers are nuts not to cast her ....she is a once in a lifetime talent

  • AWESOME!

  • what was this? a play of annie, only they were adults and not children portraying the roles?

  • hehe no no she's the ORIGINAL Annie :)

  • @chrisryder123 lmfao i know she's the original, i meant, why are adults playing it lol

  • she sounds a BIT like alice ripley? anyone?

    love it.

  • She sang it better when she was a kid.

  • @maliwyoming well, DUH. Her vocal chords hadn't experienced 40 years of singing when she was 8 years old.

  • c'mon tommorow!

  • I just love her - loved her as a kid and now - I don't know why she hasn't made more of a splash since Annie - her voice is still incredible and she's got a wonderful, vibrant personality.

  • @Chutson353 I agree and she's also really pretty so why not?! I love her!!!

  • Well the fact is that this one role earned her a place in Broadway history - She's certainly the most famous broadway "kid" in the history of the Great White Way

  • @Chutson353 Well, she was busy being a wife, a mom and encouraging her daughter to develop her own talent. IMO, she is a very down to earth person and very grounded as a performer. She loves to perform, but she does not let it go to her head, if you know what I mean.

  • best yet *smirks*

  • I saw her originate this song on Broadway and was amazed then. Nice to see she still has great vocals.

  • She grew up in my neighborhood and I met her a few times. She was always a really nice, polite, friendly girl. And boy, can she sing!

  • Boy does Andrea still have it! She's the best Annie of them all!

  • She IS Annie thats the difference, the other girls just play the role she IS the role

  • @spiceyhotbj AMEN!

  • Andrea is AMAZING!! I want to meet her someday!

  • Me too! That is one thing I must do in this lifetime =)

  • great job

  • Andrea McArdle is amazing. Thats all I have to say.

  • damn she good.....im just absolutely speechless

  • OMG she is such an incredible singer and perfomer. A child star who actually matured and kept getting better without tabloid nightmares. I LOVE YOU ANDREA!

  • I heard the Andrea & her daughter are taking over the roles of Donna & Sophie in Mamma Mia at the end of the year.

  • OMG...Please tell me this is true...I heard the same thing and feel it would be A PERFECT FIT!

  • I LOVE HER SOOOO MUCH!!

but seriously...she must be SOOOO SICK of singing these songs. XD She's sung them since she was young, and continues to today. XDDDD

But I'm glad she still is!!!!

  • she's not sick of singing these songs. She enjoys singng them because the audience LOVES her renditions.

  • and Andrea is all about making her many fans happy. But hey, she's played Belle in Beauty and The Beast and Fantine in Les Miz so she can do whatever she wants and her audience will love her.

  • She was on Seth Rudesky's show, and said it was a blessing and a curse. Everyone on broadway wants to have that one song they originate and are famous for. Usually that song isn't in their broadway debut, nor made when they're 12.

  • Actualy Kristen Vigardt was the first ANNIE, she was replace during the tryouts at the Goodspeed Oprahouse in Newhaven Con after two weeks, Andrea was playing Pepper at the time and was was put in her place. Shelly Bruce took over in late 1978, Sarah Jessica Parker took over from her in 1979, and Allison Smith ultimately replaced her.

  • the movie version is better

  • Wasn't Shelly Bruce the first annie on broadway?

  • no, first was Andrea McArdle, who was replaced by Sarah Jessica Parker

  • I Am the same age as Andrea, so when annie came out i got this big crush on her, shes got that heavenly voice &sweet smile,,for as the crush i guess i still have one ! keep singing girl. love ya

  • Every song has its singer... this song BELONGS to Andrea Mcardle no question!

  • Well said she freakin OWNS this song and Maybe as well, and Hard Knock Life, shes just the best Annie there ever was and will ever BE!! I still cry everytime I hear this song...like right now!!

  • Andrea is awesome! Love her, love her. She's also great in the movie Rainbow too :D

  • she so great!

  • I met her on sunday!! she came to my production of annie and she actually said it was the best one she has seen!!!! tht was great.... but she was really nice and own to earth and great:)

  • i love her she will always be annie

  • she's way past 20... She just looks and sounds really young

  • She's 45, and still looks great. Saw her a couple years ago at my mom's house in NJ. She's as sweet as ever. Her daughter Alexis is also a performer now.

  • good voice

  • Forever ....... 'Annie' !

  • God, her voice is fucking crazy! I love her.

  • She is an AMAZING broadway singer!

  • she's my favorite Annie of them all..she's the first ...im 35 i was born in 1973 i started singing at age 4 to her album the whole lbum over and over again. ..i havent seen another ANNIE with the love she showed ...shes such an inspiration! the joy in her voice

  • The gay crowd loves her- that's great! Everyone loves her. She'll always be the one and only Annie!!! Her voice is a gift from God.

  • She has a fantastic musical singing voice. Tomorrow is a really difficult song to sing because it's in a key where most voices break and she sings right through from the deep to the high notes. and she has a great articulation. You can understand every word she sings.

I hope she has lots of singing jobs - she's wonderful and very talented.

  • I think she still sings wonderfully well, the appeal when she was younger and she created the role is just, well, different. The voice is as magical as always

  • I saw her playing Fantine.... she was AMAZING. So many chills.

  • my moms favorite broadway actress

  • nice voice!

  • she's still fantastic :)

  • I remember hearing her as a child and seeing her here stoking that memory was great fun. Thanks for posting.

  • she was better when she was younger

  • vocally speaking her voice actually improved a great deal as she got older. she is much more capable and diverse in her abilities as a singer these days. the audio on this clip might not show it but she really is an amazing singer as an adult.

  • woah shes good....my sister is really good at singing so she sais shes not good, until she found out she was the original lolz.........and i found all these comments saying "what do u mean? shes awsome" and all that, i apologize my sister has hacked my account herself and found my password. she humiliates me all the time so im very sorry. I THINK SHES AN AMAZING SINGER BTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHES SO FREAKIN GOOD

  • 10 or 30 she'll always make me cry when she sings this song.

  • I love this

  • shes really pretty and a good singer

  • shes good

  • a tomorrow ..its only a day away thank you and goodnight and we welcome Adrea mcardle and all thouse who take up the role, rather it be atara or alien quen we respect and love the Tomorrow girl .....Annie Good night everyboady

  • Everybody, hello,on 1977 this little girl....well not little anymore however in that amazing year a legend was born one of the most spectacular musicals that still is standing tall as one of the best was created the very first its the hard knock life the very first mabye the very first ...tommoro was sung and made home by one little girl who recreated the feal and imagination of the 1930s classic comic book and radio show ANNIE so lets all not forget that smile and guys theirs always gonna be

  • Then,Now,and Forever she will be ANNIE

  • Brings me right back to age 9! So wonderful to see Andrea still owning this song like no one else can.

  • is she the ORIGINAL Annie?

  • yea but shes grown up hahah

  • Yes, she is the original Annie--the one who played the first Annie ever on Broadway, which opened at the Alvin theater in 1977.

  • You've got the story a bit wrong. Andrea McArdle is the original Annie on Broadway. What happened is that the other girl you mentioned was slated to open the show. The other girl did all of the out of town runs to test the show, but the producers switched her at the last moment. Andrea McArdle is the original Annie. She was the Annie on opening night on Broadway and McArdle is the one that sang the role on the Original Broadway Cast album.

  • No, Andrea McArdle was switched to the role out of town, before it opened on Braodway. I'm not sure where you're getting your information from but you should recheck that source--it is incorrect. McArdle was the first to open the show on Broadway (Broadway preview run and Broadway official opening night). There was no other girl on Broadway before her.

  • Here's some more information for you:

McArdle was originally cast as one of the "tough girls" (orphans) but replaced Kristen Vingard for the Connecticut, Washington and New York shows (before it reached broadway). Kristin Vigard played Annie up until the Connecticut previews at the Goodspeed Opera House--one of the tryout locations before reaching Broadway. McArdle replaced Vingard in Connecticut and took the show through that time to Broadway. So, Andrea McArdle is the first Broadway Annie.

  • she's absolutely amazing!!!

  • No Sandy? Or FDR? Bummer.

Love Andrea though. She still has it!

  • Ive watched this video like 10 times at least! =)

    Shes awesome! <3

  • not bad not bad.

  • amasing!

  • she's so awesome

  • Normally someone playing the roll of a little girl when in her 30's wouldn't work, but just like You're a Good Man Charlie Brown--it works, when the whole cast of actors is approximately the same age.

  • I love Andrea McArdle. She's so gracious to reprise such a role for the cruise. Many actresses would have snubbed anyone who suggested playing a role that far back in their history. She knew people would enjoy it and the crowd screams and applauds because they love her for her performance and for being kind enough to reprise the role. Brava!

  • Hear hear!

  • That's amazing. I think, also, what people sometimes forget to take into account is to what a truly difficult song this is to sing. She truly showed that she has that strong voice from way back when, and that it's only gotten better.

  • She sure does still have it. What a JOY!! to listen to and watch.

  • OMFG Andrea McArdle is the shit....I have loved her since I was a kid. Good for her for embracing that role and still having fun with it after all this time. Kudos to Rosie for having a fun cruise!!!

  • shes a super nice lady. i've been in her presence like thrice.

  • You're missing the point

  • What's the Point?

  • it's andrea mcardle, who was the original Annie in 1977. She's reprising her role. This whole show was performed in order for her to showcase her talent.

  • Why are people putting Tumbs down on this Comment? I was really asking what the Point was! Jezz

  • Oh, shit au! Kanskje voksen, men fortsatt utrolig! Glem forrige kommentar! Jeg beundrer virkelig den dama!!!

Oh, bullshit, Maybe grown-up, but still really amazing! I just adore her!!! She's unbeliveable

  • Just look at the happiness in her eyes, you know she just love it :)

    She's great! She's awesome!

But... Even thought I think she is one of the best "annies", I think she's to old to play in annie now.

  • Wow... girl still got it huh?

  • Amazing. She still got it!

  • Beautiful. So nice to see her again. This girl is still producing magic. Yay!

  • holy shit!

  • Oh my god she's amazing. She IS annie.

  • have you seen the annie gose to london its brill but i have lost my tape of it :(

  • she's awesome

  • i'm so glad she didn't become worse as she got older, because some people who are amazing as children become really bad as adults .. but she's still amazing!

  • shes the original annie omg thats soo cool i never knew that

  • She set the standard for any young girl who wanted to play Annie. I saw Andrea in Annie on Broadway many years ago. She blew the audience away.

  • I THINK SHE WAS AMAZING!!!!! other than the fact that shes about 30 years older than annie is

  • What do you mean she's not exactly broadway made? She was the ORIGINAL ANNIE!

  • UG i cant speak anymore!

  • wtf? im sorry everyone my sister hacked my account again, i apoligize! my sis is 9 and well shes a son of a beastly bitch lol

  • Huh? She's awesome. What do you mean she's not broadway made as you? Do you have any videos of you performing on Broadway?

  • I agree with Sierra10913 I mean she is the ORIGINAL BROADWAY ANNIE!!!

  • wow...i'm not takin anything away from her...she's still got a great voice...but i liked her better as the original annie

  • She is still an amazing talent. Not holding any judgemental feelings about being gay. She is a true talent and an amazing person..

  • um...andrea is married to a man and has a daughter. she's not gay, but i'm glad you wouldn't judge her if she was.

  • Um, that's not what I am saying. I said, it is nice to know she is not judgemental of people that are gay..

  • she sounds older than a little girl!! lol by a LOT

  • Great to see this. Classic.

  • she purtty.......

  • First of all, Andrea HAS worked quite steadily since her bway debut in Annie. And it should be noted that she was actually a REPLACEMENT taken from the chorus of orphans---In the out of town run, she had one rehearsal and went on as an understudy and came back with the role to herself. She has since done Starlight Express, Les Miserables, State Fair, and spent a number of years in Beauty and the Beast.

  • This was pretty good. Was Seth Rudetsky the one who said "Life's a nightmare" at the beginning of the clip?

  • No, I think that was someone else.

  • no it was him. He plays piano on all of rosie's cruises

  • Well, maybe she hates her life and maybe she hates this song, but I've worked with some singers who are known for songs they recorded years (even decades) ago and they tend to be grateful that those songs are remembered. Those songs give them the chance to sing other songs today, and as long as they include "Tomorrow" or whatever they were known for, the audience is happy and the singer gets to sing. And either Ms. McArdle is a good actress or she really does enjoy singing it.

  • "I'm 30 years old tomorrow, and I haven't worked since I played Annie when I was 10. But maybe there's hope tomorrow, maybe Miss ODonnell will bring Annie back again..."

  • I put this on the other video

she probably HATES her life... cuz anytime anyone asks her to perform, she's gotta sing this damn song...

  • She doesn't hate her life. She WAS the origanal Annie it is huge musical and THIS is her song the show stopper I would love to remembered w/ it. And she has done other things she Played Belle in Beauty and the Beast for 2 years.

  • A true performer have integrity and self respect. She was the original annie, she sang it well, and you can see the joy on her face. That joy can never be faked.

  • shes still got it (: but betta wen she was younger.. obvs lol

  • Annie supposed to be 11 not 20 but luv the song

  • she is an AMAZING singer!!! but since when is annie 25 years old???!!!

  • I don't know how Rosie & Seth Rudetsky got Andrea to do this, but it is Freakish yet Amazing at the same time!! I adore Andrea McArdle. I don't care how old she is. She will forever be Annie.

  • uhhhhhh no comment

  • i don't get this

shes like 25 n shes singing annie :S i'm confused

  • She is the original Annie!

I saw her at the Alvin Theater

in NYC in 1977. Of course, she

stoled the show and can still pull

    it off 30 years later.

  • shes WAY older than 25

and shes reprising her incredible turn as annie, of course.

  • well yer i no that now lol

but i just guessed bcoz she looked reasonably young :)

  • This was probably a special performance.

  • excellent i would love meet her!!! shes an excellent singer

  • The other day I was looking at the photo in the Annie CD and thought: I wonder whatever happened to the kid that played Annie? And here she is! Awesome! YOU GO GIRL!!! Thanks bdtb!
