  • Has anyone ever told you that you sound like the great voice actor Harlan Hogan?

  • @trumpetdood I had to look Harlan Hogan up, but I have heard his stuff.

I thought I sounded more like Kiefer Sutherland doing a bad Joe Pesci impersonation

    ...but what do I know.

  • great vid sir :)

  • I want more brother. You have died out.

  • Great vid. And a narrative like an old detective movie. Loved it.

Loved your rant about $25 a shot from all the mall-ninja crap people throw on their .223's. Go back to playin Doom. Lol.

  • Anyone know if this would work with a S&W 4516 model ? Its also a 1911 knock off but in compact version.

  • @NativeShaman

No, they have to be full size Colt O Frame patterns.

  • thanks for the video, well done and well said.

  • Goodinsert8...look here self proclaimed devil dog. I've seen the targets you shot at 500 yards. Its for real the broad side of a bus. That's not impressive you me. Also devil when you guys shoot 500 yards you are prone. Nice try but call of duty marine corp and the real USMC are completely different.

  • Your commentary is hilarious.

  • do you make audio books for a living???

  • @prestonjr110 I wish I did, I'm sure not making any money as a carpenter these days.

  • ah. As I am obviously not the only one who misunderstood your statement, I'll respectfully submit that it was worded poorly. It sounds as if you mean to refer to all scoped weapons with a bipod or a sandbag.

    Nice vid.

  • @knottednoodles

Your right, there was that other troll who recently claimed he was a marine and made headshots at 500 yards off-hand. Turned out he was full of shit, The jury's still out on you (so far)

Making a shot with a scoped weapon on a rest is the smallest part of a snipers skill.

ANYBODY can make a long range shot from a rest with 5 minutes instruction.

  • military snipers have no skill? wtf are you serious?

  • @knottednoodles Where exactly did I say that?

I was, quite specifically, talking about kids shooting rats with high-end scoped BB guns at 50 yards

What attracts so many trolls to this vid?

  • Great video man! I like how you het that egg at the end, standing unsupported, to puncuate your point! Sweet!

  • Thanks a lot. I wish you would re-record this & enunciate clearly so you can be easily understood.

  • @Thunkful2

I gotta be honest, you are the first and only person to ever make that comment,

most viewers actually make the exact opposite observation.

(you can check if you don't believe me.)

Maybe you should spring for a better set of speakers?

  • @Marcucco

Or do I need to clean wax out of my ears? LOL.

At any rate, I wanted to understand what you said, since it seemed valuable.

Incidentally, this kit to convert a .45 pistol to a carbine: I checked on its price; it seems to cost not much less than a Hi Point .45 ACP carbine.

  • this guy is hilarious ! you tell em man

  • great remove man, just saw one of these at a show. Thanks.

  • What's with all the trolls?

  • @Marcucco Buddy, its a crime that you haven't been given your own show (at least a radio one) yet. My attention span is very discriminating. i found myself watching every video you got on here just because your a good "on air " personality. Very informative, and YOU know what the hell your talking about.. Kodos brother. I'll be looking for more. BTW what is your opinion on the hi-point .45 acp? it just got one and its my very first gun. I have yet to shoot it.

  • did he say if you have an expensive arisoft gun your an embarrassment to airsoft?

  • What you said about the people who spend way to much on their rifles and the crap they put on it was spot on mate ;-D

  • I would say your a good shot but i would be wrong, your a great shot. However, what you are refering to with bipods and sand bags is benchrest shooting. Competition benchrest shooting takes a lot of skill, way more than standing at 80 yards.

  • @goodinsrt8

I would guess you've never watched my video called YouTube "Maksmen" .

  • @Marcucco yea, ive seen it. It was amusing. What you "demonstrated" was not bench rest shooting. 1 foot gong at 100 yards isnt even MOA. Get a .308, put it in a vice and let me know when you can shoot a five inch group at 1000 yards. You are an ecellent marksman, but your opinion on benchrest is ignorant.

  • @goodinsrt8

The longest range I ever get to shoot is Eggs at 300 yds, (RI is a tiny place and 1000 yds would put you in the next county.)

I use a model 70 with a Simmons Aetec and the leg from an old pair of jeans filled with gravel and stitched shut.

Most people who look at that vid and figure "If he can do that without looking ...imagine if he'd aimed."

So you're saying that you and all the other kids that learned to shoot playing Doom use bench rests because it's harder?

  • @Marcucco most people who watch this video probably dont realize that you're only shooting 100 yards at a 12 inch gong with your gun in a vice, which is not benchrest shooting.

I did not learn to shoot playing doom, i learned to shoot in the US Marine Corps. The last time I qualified, I shot expert. You might be able to hit eggs at 300 with a vice, but I am able to put a round in someones head at 500.

  • @goodinsrt8

it's such s wonderful thing to be 20 and know everything.

I hit eggs at 300 yards with store-bought ammo and a sand bag made from the leg of a pair of jeans.

I don't post videos about it because there is no skill in it.

I hit that steel gong target at 80 yards WITHOUT LOOKING DOWN THE SCOPE!

If you have to tell somebody "go stand over there and stoop down a little so I can shoot you in the head, it's not a skill.

Try one of the fishing channels, get some pointers on trolling.

  • @Marcucco Read what I wrote, SHOOTING WITH YOUR GUN IN A VICE IS NOT BENCH REST. I would hope you didnt have to look down the scope at a 12in gong at 80 yards, you should be able to hit that from the hip.

Just to clear up any confusion about my 500 yard head shots, they were not from a bench, nor with a scope and definitely not match grade ammo.

  • @goodinsrt8

    Read what I wrote.

THERE IS NO SKILL IN SHOOTING FROM A REST

    none, zip, nada,

This is why so many of the clowns on here are shooting from rests and sand bags and bypods.

They don't want anybody to see them miss.

...and you need to put up a video of you making 500 yard shots off hand with open sights or go troll some place else because now everybody knows you're full of sh!t

  • @Marcucco Lol, you're funny. If there is no skill then why dont you make a video of you making sub moa groups at 500 yards? Shouldn't be a problem for you.

  • @goodinsrt8 You also might want to switch to 30'06, The .308 was designed for automatic actions.

If you're really shooting 2 MOA, imagine what you'll do with a round designed for long range marksmanship.

  • @Marcucco I was referring to benchrest competition groups with the 1000 yard shot. A five inch group at 1000 yards isnt 2 MOA, its .5 MOA. A 1 foot gong at 100 yards is 12 MOA. An egg at 50 yards is about 4-3 MOA, hardly a good shot.

  • you have and epic voice

  • hell yea, i loved your rants.. 100% with you on what you said.. tripods and sand bags are for newbies..

  • I know a lot of time has gone by since you posted this, but seriously, you need to audition for background narration of say... a movie based on a TV P.I. show like Richard Diamond or Mike Hammer (the original, not Stacy Keach). You'd be great.

And I'm with you all the way on the gun gimmicks. Cleaner is better. Simple is best.

Any more comments on the long term reliability of the CCU? I'm considering one for professional use. Retired cop. Thanks.

  • This man speaks the truth!

  • come on man, don't hate my BB gun. i live in the city and shooting ratz with a 45 is a no no!

  • @evelratz I don't hate BB guns, they're a lot of fun.

I just can't imagine why anybody would make a video that indicates they can't hit a target at 30 yards (or less) without a scope and a bipod. In reality, they ought to be embarrassed.

So the only other possible explanations I can come up with are that they're completely clueless about shooting

...or their video's are simply about watching things die.

Either of those options make them dangerous.

  • Ill have to take it back they called me today ....and gave me a price on the unit in the shotgun news ad just under 600 bucks but by the time i spend 250 on a descent 1911 lower ...i mean i can buy a used semi Thompson 45 acp for 800 bucks

  • I wanted this carbine but their web site is more complicated than the riddle of the sphinx and they wont answer the phone ...or return emails ...so to hell with them .....ive adopted this policy ...if you dont want my money ...you dont get it and i pass this on to all my freinds "forget this turkey" .......Auto Ordinance sells one of way better quality for a couple of hundred more and the resale is off the scale

  • @jwagon28 Sorry to hear that MechTech's Customer service went to hell. They were okay when I bought mine but that had to be at least 5 years ago.

Never saw the AutoOrdinance model, I'll have to take a look.

  • love the video. i like that you actually have the skill to back up what you talk about. need more people like you on the internet instead of all the internet rambos that believe there marksmans when they fling $100 worth of ammo in two minutes and dont hit anything.

    p.s. damn good egg shot

  • This guy needs to be narrating the next Bruce Willis movie ..2 thumbs up

  • dude, YOU should be the one doing the ford truck commercials

  • When I served in the USAF, I had 41 people working for me. 2/3 of these were hobby marksman. One fellow knocked down metal silhouette targets at nearly a mile with a T/C pistol. He never used bi-pod support, instead the Creedmore position. A bi-pod is not a joke for people who enjoy extremely long range marksmanship. Granted there are silly shooters that buy things they don't need before learning the basics. I enjoyed your video and forwarded the link to a few of my friends. Thanks.

  • @NightSailor

    Thanks for forwarding my video.

I guess my rants sometimes get taken the wrong way.

'scopes and 'pods certainly have their place, but there's a whole lot of videos of folks capping away at targets at 100m or less and thinking there's actually demonstrating some sort of skill.

Watch "YouTube Marksman" when you get a chance.

  • Your narration is the vocal equivalent of a 1000 yard stare.

  • awesome narration. ever thought of doing voice work?

  • @NeXt559 I'm like that "God given voice" guy that just went viral.

Maybe if I got a sign and stood on an exit ramp I could be the next voice of the Gieco Gecko.

    Bad joke ...sorry.

I think the "God given voice" guy is a wonderful story and I wish him great success.

  • I LOVE the narration on your video.... SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF APOCALYPSE NOW!!!!

Serious Question: do they make a Mech Tech carbine for a Para Ordnance high capacity 1911 frame? Specifically do they make one for the P-16? I would get that chambered in 10mm and kill zombies all day long. Head shots only of course.

  • @The10shooter I gotta be honest, I don't know for sure.

Find somebody with a 1911 and try their slide on your frame.

Be 100% sure it will chamber, fire and cycle a new round. If it does, you're good to go.

Posting a link kind-a puts my 'YouTube cred' into question. (Note there's no ads on any of my vids.) so go and Google MechTech Systems, I'm sure you'll find the web site and Tech Support.

You could also check and see if Para says the Colt slide will fit on the P-16 frame.

    ...and thanks.

  • Nice video

  • @nameless535 Thanks

  • My new CCU arrived today., but I haven't fired it yet. I think I'll fire a mag or two in three hours for the New Year since I don't have any fireworks. M4-type stock and sights. Beautiful! It still has the low-tech recoil buffer which is basically a block of rubber glued to the rear of the receiver. It fell out on my old CCU but I put it back in with some Gorilla Glue and it worked just fine.

  • @eze417 I sort of liked the low-tech design, less to go wrong.

I was looking at a cast aluminum folding stock from a high end paintball gun.

The "tuning-fork" style stock on my early edition still bothers me a little.

    Guns just shouldn't go Ka-boy-yoy-yoy-yingggggggg.

  • @Marcucco Yeah, that stock wasn't so great, but it was the only folding stock they offered. Perhaps customer feedback convinced them to offer more "stock options."

A word to the wise: If you go with that stock you should also get the barrel with the muzzle decoration. Without it, the overall length is a little less than 26" which could make legal trouble.

  • Great video! I had forgot how we used to add red food coloring to the jugs for greater effect. I completely agree with you on the clowns who think an excess of equipment compensates for lack of shooting skill.

My new M1911 CCU is on order. It should be here tomorrow or the next day. It will be prettier than the old one I had, and I will have at least one day of fair weather to play with it. As you said, the ugly one is still fun to shoot. Mech Tech makes a very well-engineered product.

  • "go to walmart, but a mouse trap, and go back to playin Doom." lmao that made my day

  • this guys voice is awesome

  • Thanks for a great job on the video. I've been considering getting one of these things for my M1911, and you've gone a long way toward selling me on the idea. May I ask, what's the longest range target, say the size of a melon, on which you've made a first-round hit? I'd guess anything beyond 100 yards is much like firing a mortar -- at least that's what I've found with the pistol.

  • shoot those water jugs from the side, or switch em out for a milk jug and shoot that from the side, thats a big blast of water.

  • Great videos man. My father just gave me his old winchester 69. Good gun to learn with?

  • @hhhyr55l An excellent gun to learn on. highly accurate.

  • gotta go to the 99cent store and shake up some 3 liters.

btw, you are one highly opinionated dood. its almost cool.

  • @RyanInSD

I'm almost good looking too, but I'm the voice of god with a fire arm and I can back up anything I say ...so I guess it's a wash.

Would you be one of those guys who thinks he learned to shoot playing video games?

  • @Marcucco

yep, halo3 to be exact :)

  • @Marcucco i think most of the views youll get are from people who play call of duty

  • @rockstarHH LOL, I love CoD. (I'm waiting for the new one to be released for Mac.)

But some of these kids are scary, it's kind of like thinking you know how to drive because you play GTA.

  • @Marcucco dude its fucking badass I got it Black Ops for the ps3 last week and I play everyday. Yea I know what you mean man I see a lot of dumbass teens driving on the road these days

  • haha i love the end of this haha tell it how it is

  • What is the ballistic property increase of a .45 out of a 4 inch barrel to a 17.5 inch barrel? Are we talking drastic ballistic improvement or just better accuracy?

  • @armypenguin

Sorry bud, I cant quote you exact numbers, but the MechTech definitely hits a lot harder at 80-100 yards then the stock handgun barrel.

I'm pretty sure there were some specs on the difference in muzzle velocity and energy on the the MechTech site.

  • @Marcucco thanks I'll try and check it out I'm looking at getting a Highpoint 4595

  • @Marcucco Rifle magazine recently did a write up on .45 ACP in a variety of guns with varying barrel lengths.

16 inches proved to be the optimum barrel length for velocity. Vel. for 24 " barrel actually slowed down, back to the same level as from the stock 1911 barrel. Thanks for you video. I like your report. Best wishes.

  • @firstbaldwin

Is that article available on line? I'd like to see it.

I'm curious about what they used for ammo and if they tested for accuracy.

In my experience, muzzle velocity effects the range and impact for a specific projectile weight.

But increasing MV doesn't increase accuracy and in practice, it can actually have a negative effect.

A longer barrel (within limits) puts more spin on a projectile.

Personally, I'd look at accuracy rather then muzzle velocity before I decided.

  • @Marcucco Its Wolfe publishing out of Prescott Az.. they do have back a substantial web site, & offer back issues. This .45 ACP article was in a very recent issue. They actually had a Springfield bolt action ( I think it was) that had been re barreled in 45 ACP. That was the 24" barrel that was tested. It was a pretty extensive write up, as all their stuff is. but it concentrated more on barrel length vs velocity than accuracy issues. Hope that helps.

  • @firstbaldwin

    Thanks. I'll Take a look.

Again, I'm not a tech guy, but in the field I have found that longer barrels tend to be more accurate and that MV has nothing to do with accuracy.

Think about the Winchester 94 in some of the pistol caliber chamberings.

I'll bet with some tweaking you could find a load that would turn the mechtech with a 20" barrel into a 150 yd. monster.

  • @Marcucco I have some plans for the mec tech .45 ACP too. I hope to capture some results on video. Subsonic

/low noise signature is the emphasis for me. I used to have a Thompson copy, forget the actual name, that was real clunker. its amazing what .45 ACP will do with the case filled clear full of bullseye. like.44 mag (REMOTE fired from a mechanical rest!) the thing was rugged though. swallowed those insane loads & kept on going. but cases did not fair so well !

  • @firstbaldwin

You might want to consider the .460 Roland, they were offering the MecTech in that chambering.

I didn't go for it because the ammo was so expensive (I don't hand-load) But I got to try a 1911 barreled for it and now I wish I had.

Check the spec's on the .460. compared to the .44 mag.

There's no mods to the frame or slide, just a barrel, spring and guide rod.

Swap the recoil spring back and you can still use the .45 ACP.

Clark Custom offers a kit for Para frames.

  • @Marcucco This Highly abbreviated format. Let me try my message sagain. I need low noise for my primary intent, =killing rock chucks, so bullet needs to stay subsonic. I just ended up beating the mentioned gun for pure fun after it proved unsuitable (very inaccurate, horrendous 35 lb trigger pull) for the primary purpose. To its credit no wreck with the insane 45 loads &it still sold as functional afterwards. If I wanted more intensity/vel.@44/45 slug I'd go 44mag or 45-70 but= too much noise.

  • start a small fire and fill them with gas instead of water......then shoot it it will pop lol.

  • Excellent vid.

  • wow, that was the most epic combination of words at the end of the video i have ever heard in my life. well deserved thumbs "up"

  • i like that

  • can i get this in book form......

  • Cool set up. I just got a 1911 and am looking for something like this to slap on. And to echo some of the others who have commented the timber of your voice is well suited for narration. Thanks for this video!

  • "Go to walmart, drop 49 cents on a mousetrap, go back to playing DOOM."

With a voice like yours, they're gonna listen.

PS. Please narrate "The Very Hungry Caterpillar".

  • Please narrate audio books.

  • I bought a 1911 that was an old one to, and had many diffrent tweeks done to it. Dosent bother me Idont feel as bad shooting it since all that stuff has been done to it. have a vid of mine love the vid man keep it up.

  • I love the 1911, it's the only handgun I own now.

If it hadn't been tweaked out, it never would have been in my price range.

Plus the old time heavy steel frame means I can shoot anything I want and the gun will still be around for another 100 years.

  • @Marcucco Same with me about the price rang, and I'm sure these fine pistols will still be chugging in another 100.

  • @Marcucco Same with me on the price rang. I'm sure these old pistols will still be chugging away in 100 or ever more cant be the old ones.

  • @Marcucco Colt makes quality guns. I just picked up a Colt 1903 made in 1919. I love it :D

  • modifying guns to the point where it cant be recognized as its original model is a shame

the most ive modified a gun, is a 2.5x scope and a 10 rd mag for a .22

  • Not sure what you're getting at.

The CCU is interchangeable, I can turn it back into a pistol in under 2 minutes.

...and it only takes that long because of the full length spring guide.

  • @Marcucco im just saying, over modifications are ridiculous, im not saying anything about your gun

  • Tonight im gonna fall asleep to your voice and gun shots. you should narrate movies.

  • go buy and rat trap, and go back to playing DOOM . LOL love it. Great shooting, and great set up. Do u do any trap or skeet ?

  • Not in years.

It's a great sport, I just never got that into it.

  • yeah, love it. Thanks for the reply, have a good one

  • great video

  • Had a guy come up to me the other day telling me that my groups at 100 yards were terrible....mine are better he says...I called it on him as he had his rifle bolted to the bench. I made him shoot off-hand and he shut up quickly. Bench is good for zero checks and reloading, period. Nice post, I may have to get one of these and try to custom it to my liking.. Thanks!

  • I see that a lot,

guys that can't hit sh!t without the training wheels.

If your 1911 has a steel frame (not alloy) go for the .460 Rowland.

The ammo is expensive but that thing is the voice of god inside 150 yards.

  • Yeah I don't claim to be a great shot, but I'm decent and I've shot with some of the best. Bench shooting is rather amusing. I've been toying around with the idea of .460 Rowland, but I sort of want to have this for tactical steel shooting competition stuff too. But ammo costs would kill me at that rate of usage. Does the .460 handle 45 acp well too, or is that out of the question. If it can handle both, then throwing in some .460 for serious meets and 45 for casual would be the way to go.

  • You'd have to check with MechTech, I can't say for sure.

The only mechanical difference in the round itself is that the casing is a bit longer, it's still a .45 slug. but the Rowland conversion for the pistol uses a 24# recoil spring. There might be a cycling issue if you were firing standard or target ACP loads with a spring that heavy.

  • i agree with the rant completely i don't know how many times i have out shot people off hand because yahoo out their think bi- pods are the shit really great video

  • The rants between the slo-mo shots sounds like the intro to a good movie.

  • I agree almost totally. I do shoot a bolt action 50 cal with a $500 scope on tripod at pie pans at 2000 yds. I looked at your video as I am thinking of buying one of these for a goofed up para ordinance that I have. As for shooting -- I am getting older and my eyes kinda suck. I can only hit 2 ft circles at 800 yds with the stock M1 garand and the original peep sites

  • The narration is my favorite part.

  • Gun porn indeed. More please :)

  • "go back to playing doom" !! This guy rocks! Helluvashot too!

  • so how do you like the kit so far. i was thinking about getting one for my glock 17 or a kel tec sub 2000.

  • I absolutely love it.

I've had it for 6 years now and it's still great.

They've changed the rails and sock, but the action seems to be the same

  • great vid..its the best i have ever watched on youtube. the time i took to wathc it was worth it love every second

  • great gun!!! you have the voice that's made for tv.

  • Yeah, but my face was definitely made for radio.

    Thanks

  • I enjoyed your video. I totally agree about the people who spend ungodly amounts of money and think they can shoot. My concealed weapons instructor once said, "Buying a gun and thinking you know how to use it is like buying a piano and thinking you are Mozart."

  • Is that your voice? You've got something for narration!

  • That's me, honest.

  • grate shot at the end if u can find a 1911 lower fram an that upper u have would u need a hand gun lice for it ?

  • Since the lower frame is manufactured as a hand gun, you'd probably need to register it as a pistol.

The laws vary state to state, but I think this would be under Federal Law.

I know the Fed has rules about turning a rifle into a pistol, but I don't know about going the other way.

The shot at the end was with a .22 with open sights, not the MechTech.

  • I have watched several of your videos now. You have yourself a subscriber.

  • Mister thats a good review, you sounds like a scary scary villian in an old wild western. You should do movie voice narrations.

  • I was just messing with you a little is all.

I'm not too cool to use a tree or a rock as a rest when I'm hunting.

  • you have excellent aim as well, my friend

  • I've had a lot of practice, that's all it takes.

  • you are a bad ass

  • Who me?

I'm a beat up old man bud.

  • haha, an old man with great taste in firearms

  • LOL!

    "Go back to playing Doom."

    CLASSIC!

  • Thanks. I enjoys your vids as well

  • I stumbled on this vid while considering companion long guns for our two Kimbers. Marlin Camp Carbine seems about ideal, really appreciate same mags in addition to same ammo. Places the cowboy's revolver and lever action in perspective. Thoughts?

  • Your honesty is moving, people could learn alot from you, but most are to ignorant to use common sense. Keep on doing your stuff, Hope to see another video soon. thanks :)

  • You can also improve the look and accuracy of your MT by adding the "M4 4 POSITION COLLAPSIBLE STOCK" from Mech Tech using their Recoil Buffer Subassembly - Part# MBS - $8.95. I had to cut the old stock and the rubber buffer and drill the hole for the new buffer assembly myself, but it was not too hard to do. It saved me from having to buy the new retrofit housing. Besides, I was thinking, if I ruined the housing in the process, I can just go ahead and order the new retrofit housing.

  • I was thinking about the folding stock from a Tippman.

  • Sorry, I meant 185gr JHP .45 Super

  • I use 230gr JHP .45 Super from Buffalo Bore in my Mech Tech. I popped a hog with it from about 75 yards and hit it in the jaw. It just dropped like a stone. If you want more spectacular results on the water jugs, use 180gr JHP .45 Super.

  • What do you think of the 460 Rowland? I almost got the MT in that chambering until I saw the price of the rounds. (I'm not set up to hand-load)

    Those Cor-Bons were +P's

  • I have conducted internet research on it and am hoping to get set up with it soon. I'm particularly interested in the 260 grain load at about 1050 fps. I'm into low-signature rounds that are good enough drop hogs on the spot without bothering the neighbors too much. I think its a great cartridge and would be rewarding to hand-load. I think the .460 Rowland MT/Para-Ord with 14rd mag would be the ultimate compact/low-signature/hi-firepower/good stopping power combo available.

  • Its like a movie lol .. love it

  • Sweet. Loved it. Great egg shot at the end. Right on.

  • Marcucco, this was a very entertaining and soulful presentation of your subject. Unpretentious and fresh. I have watched quite a few of your videos on YouTube and I really enjoy the phrasing and pacing of your storytelling along with your video style. Great job! Thanks!

  • It looks like one of the previous owners polished away the sharp corner at the top of the frame ramp. This is a sign that the previous "gunsmith" had no idea what they were doing. The shape of the frame ramp is essential to reliable feeding. If yours works fine, you've lucked out, but if it jams, you may need to get a new frame ramp welded. Nice vids though.

  • The barrel has been ramped to match, so it's never been an issue. It will feed anything.

The MechTec barrel is ramped as well, a shade deper then the pistol barrel.

It feeds standard ball and Corbon (HP's) with no problem.

(I never tried wad/semi wad cutters in the MechTec)

The only problem I ever had was if it tried to feed from Chip McCormic mags.

The Wilson Combat's worked fine right out of the box. Maybe you had a magazine issue?

  • It's good to hear that your gun shoots well. There are frames ruined by owners who've over polished the frame ramps or changed the shape of the frame ramp. This causes the tip of the bullet to hit low on the barrel ramp, pushing the barrel up and into the slide, resulting in a three point jam. I leave all my ramps as is, and I haven't had any jams due to frame ramp roughness.

  • Continued...

The Wilson mags seem to reduce the three point jams due to bad frame ramp shapes. They position the top round higher and more of a straight shot into the chamber. Does your gun work with USGI mags or similar?

By the way, your MecTec carbine is great!

  • The gun came with generic mystery mags, none had military markings.

They would sometimes fail to lock open the breech after the last round causing the last shell to "stovepipe".

I swapped out the spring and follower with the Wilson's 8 round set up and the problem was solved.

The Chip McCormic's would fail to feed occationally until I tweaked the feed lips, I wouldn't buy them again.

Wilson's has a great product and is a great outfit to do business with, spend the $.

  • I had same problem with my 10rd Chip McCormick mag. It works fine with the pistol upper, but not with the MT carbine. So I switched over to using my Para-Ordnance P16-40 lower and Para block if I want a big mag capacity. I had to buy .45 Para mags, but the P16-40 lower works fine with it and the .45 MT upper.

  • lol i drop deer with my pellet gun

  • yeah, right.

  • no im serious its 2000 fps with hunter shot at 35 yards, passes straight through the heart and usually stops at the underside of the ribs

  • There's a reason why there's a law against that

  • gun safety isn't your strong suit is it starshot01?

  • It's not the safety issue that bothers me, it's the thought of having Bambi drop dead a weak later in somebody's back yard.

  • To the point. thats rare nowadays. keep doin what your doin.

  • Great vid, and honest to a fault. As one of the workin class that shoot what i can afford and on the cheap, I say Thanks.

  • Thanks for your remark about the airsoft fans. They are a true embarasment to our sport. And here on youtube I am tired of having thier videos in the way. When I am trying to do research on firearms.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Thanks for the info, the words, and the voice. Cool..

  • I liked the video. You know how to say it without saying too much. I like to shoot my winchester 9422 that I got as a kid. Probably killed more cottontail than smallpox. I like the 1911, it's kind of like a zippo-there's a lot of others that do the same thing but nothing that feals the same or is as cool.

  • that was very informative i am shopping for a hand gun and you finished selling me on a 1911 model

  • Great video man! Thoroughly entertaining. You have one more subscriber for sure.

  • I have been thoroughly impressed by your videos. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your marksmanship skills from? Are you former military, LEO, or were you raised on it?

    Thanks,

    Dan

  • Both my grandfathers, my father and all my uncles were hunters. My mother was the first woman ever to win an NRA state championship. (This was a competition open to everyone state wide and her win caused quite a ruckus back in 1946) I've been shooting targets since I was old enough to hold up the end of a gun. I have a brother that's a better shot then I, and an NRA instructor. I guess we were just born to it.

  • believe anybody can learn, you just have to take off the training wheels and get into the mindset that where the lead goes is far more important then how much of it you got down range.

  • LOL, I came by to see your videos and noticed the second response just now. I don't know exactly what you are referring to as "training wheels", but I will say that I respect your style of shooting. I understand that shoot placement is far more important than shot count, but in my background suppressive fire isn't such a bad thing to practice either. I understand my style isn't your favorite, I'm ok with that because I respect yours and will continue to view your great videos. Have a good one.

  • "Training Wheels" refers to the scopes and bipods those clowns can't hit a target without.

It's a mouse click to them.

There aint no zombies and the Russians aren't coming, honest.

Unless you know something I don't about wildlife starting to stockpile arms, suppressing fire is pretty much a waste of ammo in my world.

(I will admit that it's big fun, but I'd rather spend the $ on Guinness Extra Stout.)

I promise you'll be the first guy I call if zombie commie werwolves show up (armed).

    Thanks!

  • scopes are okay for hunting, long range shots, and things like that IF YOUR GOING FOR PRECISION but if your in a war, someone shooting at you, looking through the scope finding him wastes time. looking straight through the sites only needs a general area and a trigger pull. i use low powered scopes. and bipods ARE literally training wheels. 2 extra arms helping you stay up.

  • how do you feel about red dots? just curious (ps, nice review, looking to pick one of these up in .460 rowland.) take care

  • Love your videos, you speak the truth!

  • great review im thinkin of getting one for my g17. man you have that voice, that could narrate a good movie.. i can hear it now..." it was the summer of 83, it was hot as hell, me and tommy decided to grab a beer........."
