Hi, nice playing, this was played by Irish fiddler Kevin Burke on his 'In Concert' album. He calls it Itzikel don't know where he heard it originally but it definitely isn't Irish traditional. Sounds more klezmer to me.
Known as Frailock by Lunasa. Beautiful interpretation, in fact I prefer your version to Lunasa's : softer and with a better blend between the instruments, where as Lunasa's version tends to jar a bit.
But walketh at two feet, but saw behind me four steps, two white, and two carveth in snow, So i wondered, who walked behind, and asked, to Air and Wind,
Who is it that walketh behind me, and is not seen, but walks Aside, in Wind and Rain, Than An Wonder Happened, and gave me Light, It was the Shepherd of Light Himself, Giving me the Light of Wisdom, Gaving me to see, it Was The lord, witnessing with footsteps my life.
the way the the tone of the flute and fiddle blend.. it seems a difficult harmony to achieve.. but it has a cool sound when it comes together just right.
It's kinda funny, one of these days I was listening to rhapsody and someone told me that the part of all theirs songs that I most like is actualy irsh folk, I started looking for it and found this song with the guys playing, a I liked it so mucho that when I'm walking I keep thinking about this song. It is in my head all day long.
I'm sure every kind of traditional music as the same origin. Every culture, country, group only added their own 'touch'. Only an other sign that pleeds for tolerance :-)
@kevo32a t ..love the clarinet ..great that all those`old ` tunes ..from the time of the first settlers ...Formorians , Tuatha de Dannan etc are coming back to us
Irish or not, I can tell you this :) ...a month ago I adopted a white dove who I was told, loved traditional Irish music. I've also learned she's very fussy with what songs she likes.
Yours however had her dancing till she fell off my hand...then hopped back on again for another 8 mintues or so while I kept replaying it :D
Thanks for sharing your talent, and Jillian (aka Bird), thanks you too! :)
Nice enough music. Great as background music in a Mediterranean restaurant, which is possibly what it was meant to be. But neither the music nor the instruments are traditional irish. Guitar is not an irish instrument although it is used NOW in irish music. The violin is being played as a violin and not a fiddle which would be traditional irish. By the way, I know next to nothing about music so take this with a grain of salt.
Very good. But actually this tune is not Irish. It's a freilach from Klezmer music. The tracks on Lúnasa's first album are the names of the months in Gaelic. Hence "Lúil", which means July, (it's the 7th track). Great playing though!
lovely playing, what song and where did you get it again? I don't recognise it. I'm very sorry if you have answered these questions above but I don't speak anything other than english and gobbledegook!

There was a poem,
I walketh through the forest,
deep in Scottisch Ireland,
But walketh at two feet, but saw behind me four steps, two white, and two carveth in snow, So i wondered, who walked behind, and asked, to Air and Wind,
Who is it that walketh behind me, and is not seen, but walks Aside, in Wind and Rain, Than An Wonder Happened, and gave me Light, It was the Shepherd of Light Himself, Giving me the Light of Wisdom, Gaving me to see, it Was The lord, witnessing with footsteps my life.

woa. That was amazing. Bellissima! It sounded almost Klezmer. Do you still play together? I wish I could collaborate with you...

"It sounded almost Klezmer." That is because it is Klezmer. They have probably got this tune from Lunasa, and asumed that it was Irish...
