IMHO, with that much of an incredible launch from the STI, the 13 second pass is dissapointing, I mean, my god, I can't imagine the 60 foot time, it's 60 foot is certainly better than my '04 Cobra, possibly even with my drag radials... of course the hatchdriver hadn't the best start. but get the facts. k20 hatch hp to weight ratio is 5,5 kg/hp, the ratio of the sti (if 265hp) is 5,5 kg/hp too. but if it was a wrx sti 4,93 kg/hp. and it is a awd with a short transmission ;).
Wow you need to wake up. Yeah the AWD is def an advantage but its also about power to weight not how much HP you have. Obviously the CRX is lighter. Def looks like driver error. The guy was still spinning when the STi hit 1/8th mile. I beat an STi last year at the track with 185whp and my car weighed 2,230 with me in it.
stock k20 in a hatch barely does anything, plus no p/s no a/c unncomfortable ass ride no handling 2 doors, the sti is fully loaded plus handles like a dream, 4 drs plus no traction issues. golden, to make a civic measure up to one it would cost as much as one. the only cool thing is the surprise of having a fast honda.

actually it depends...on regular vtec it is at a set rpm like 5500/5600, but I-Vtec is in a certain range based upon the throttle, so it can range from 5200-5800 i'm not sure on the exact range but it all depends how hard your getting on the throttle.
HEY k20tsab!! I am the owner of that STI. You NEVER raced me on the highway and you certainly never beat me. Don't make up lies on here to make you and whoever feel better about a loss. Actually ekn9ne, I do get the point. I am driving an STI, which is pretty much atop the import food chain. It corners a thousand times better than any civic, its AWD so it is rally-ready and its a sick looking ride with a ton of options. In order to make Civics really fast, you must have it stripped, pull the AC out, on slicks and the engine swapped out. Why would I want to do that to my car? I want to cruise as well as drag. That's why I paid 30K for it... Actually 29K.

Now, with that said, those Civics are simply one trick wonders. I really wouldn't want to crash in one either. The STi can be made quite fast as well and are fantastic on the street, track, autox/rallyx, road course etc, and damn safe to boot. I have an 05 STi and wouldn't trade it for an EG/hatch swap even if you paid me.
If I want a lightweight, fast, and great handling car, I'd buy a kit car for $14k.
An EG hatch/K20 swap can be very fast, considering most owners that drag race probably strip the interior. Those cars can weigh as little as 2000-2200lbs. Factor in some k-pro tuning, header, exhaust, intake, possibly gearing, etc and those things can get pretty fast (low 12s on drag radials etc.)
I like both cars. K20 in a civic can and has beaten an STi. Well atleast in my area. K20's in civics and a few choice mods do pretty good at tracks. Props to both racers though.

The K20 on that hatch does not need boost to beat that Sti. it is for certain that that civic did not have a K20. and if it did, he needed some serious tunning and Practice handling the K20. plus he had a bad launch.
i own a 04sti and a 06 rsx types kept up with me on the highway when i was stock......he had alot of bolt on but was not force induction........i dont know what engine the car comes with but he was fast for just bolt ons.....but he's no match for my sti with bolt ons now.......im now stg2 and race him again and got him by atleast 6 cars

Actually the stock tranny on an STI is made to withstand 450 WHP. I know someone with 425 WHP and 60k miles with the stock clutch. So, it is still reliable. A K20 doesn't stand a chance. Just live and deal with it. You would also need a turbo and slicks to get a K20 Civic to match a stock STI.
Actually, his car couldn't kill mine. He ran 4 runs and was consistently at least a second slower. My reaction time in that run was like .300 or something. STI's are fast turbo6967, get over it.

I have an ek civic dx with full power.
Added steering,windows,locks and keyless entry with nicer parts out of an si.
With the stock motor and an intake. as well as rims, coilovers etc.
Its slow, but I had fun working on it. Isnt that what counts? Besides who wants to spend 30k on a car.
I paid 3700 for this with no body problems at 16 yrs old.

IMHO, with that much of an incredible launch from the STI, the 13 second pass is dissapointing, I mean, my god, I can't imagine the 60 foot time, it's 60 foot is certainly better than my '04 Cobra, possibly even with my drag radials... Wow you need to wake up. Yeah the AWD is def an advantage but its also about power to weight not how much HP you have. Obviously the CRX is lighter. Def looks like driver error. The guy was still spinning when the STi hit 1/8th mile. I beat an STi last year at the track with 185whp and my car weighed 2,230 with me in it.

stock k20 in a hatch barely does anything, plus no p/s no a/c unncomfortable ass ride no handling 2 doors, the sti is fully loaded plus handles like a dream, 4 drs plus no traction issues. golden, to make a civic measure up to one it would cost as much as one. the only cool thing is the surprise of having a fast honda.

actually it depends...on regular vtec it is at a set rpm like 5500/5600, but I-Vtec is in a certain range based upon the throttle, so it can range from 5200-5800 i'm not sure on the exact range but it all depends how hard your getting on the throttle.

i've just got my car tuned and i just ordered an intake manifold...hopefully it helps.i finally figured out how to launch my car on street tires..i guess practice helps alot...i haven't been back to rockingham but i've ran a few local 1/8's and my times have improved by 1/2 sec on the 1/8...been wanting to get the car painted but luck isn't on my side...when will you be finish with training over there...Ranger training eh.let me know how that goes..anything new on your car???

that my cousin's k20...it's not JDM its just k20a2.....he loss on launch cause he can't get any traction..i was there too...hatch swap rules...but we raced on highway and we beat that STI...that k20 has 220hp,we went to dyno it on tuesday...ya just jealous

since then i've improved a bit...my best et to date is a 13.1 @105mph...thats only two miles faster then when i trapped a 14.1@103mph that night...all that was done is better tires(bf drag radials),suspension and traction bars...same engine mods...still untuned...12's will come soon with weight deduction and more seat time...jbayse99 are you gonna be down near the carolinas or @ VIR any time soon...

I'm sure a K20 has beaten an STI. Not a stock JDM k20 swapped civic hatch. No way. Not even close. That run I made there hit 60 MPH in 4.27 sec. That Civic would need slicks and some type of forced induction. I'm not knocking that hatch because it was a neat ride, but I mean they really aren't too comparable.

Actually ekn9ne, I do get the point. I am driving an STI, which is pretty much atop the import food chain. It corners a thousand times better than any civic, its AWD so it is rally-ready and its a sick looking ride with a ton of options. In order to make Civics really fast, you must have it stripped, pull the AC out, on slicks and the engine swapped out. Why would I want to do that to my car? I want to cruise as well as drag. That's why I paid 30K for it... Actually 29K.

Now, with that said, those Civics are simply one trick wonders. I really wouldn't want to crash in one either. The STi can be made quite fast as well and are fantastic on the street, track, autox/rallyx, road course etc, and damn safe to boot. I have an 05 STi and wouldn't trade it for an EG/hatch swap even if you paid me.
If I want a lightweight, fast, and great handling car, I'd buy a kit car for $14k.

An EG hatch/K20 swap can be very fast, considering most owners that drag race probably strip the interior. Those cars can weigh as little as 2000-2200lbs. Factor in some k-pro tuning, header, exhaust, intake, possibly gearing, etc and those things can get pretty fast (low 12s on drag radials etc.)

i own a 04sti and a 06 rsx types kept up with me on the highway when i was stock......he had alot of bolt on but was not force induction........i dont know what engine the car comes with but he was fast for just bolt ons.....but he's no match for my sti with bolt ons now.......im now stg2 and race him again and got him by atleast 6 cars

Actually the stock tranny on an STI is made to withstand 450 WHP. I know someone with 425 WHP and 60k miles with the stock clutch. So, it is still reliable. A K20 doesn't stand a chance. Just live and deal with it. You would also need a turbo and slicks to get a K20 Civic to match a stock STI.
