  • I should say that I now have the Hunter Hercules. It is a square shank tool and designed to be used flat. However it is very easy to rotate on edge so you can use it in bevel rubbing mode as well as shear scraping.  so apparently round is not necessary.

  • I enjoyed your review of these tools, which I am planning to add to my supply. Can you comment on why one might want a square shank? It seems to me that it would be hard (impossible?) to rotate the cutting edge with a square shank. Your thoughts appreciated.

  • @AaronSKuehn The Eliminator which has the same cutter as the Hunter is 3 sided. I've talked to other people who have used it and they said it wasn't hard to rotate the tool. I still think a round shank is better because it's just so much easier to rotate the tool to any position required.
