Between 1:08 and 1:12, El looks just like Bobby there when he was younger. I always thought Bobby had his own look and none of the brothers really looked exactly alike, but El and Bobby favor quite a bit.

Much respect to El but he would be the first to tell you that he couldnt touch his brother Bobby's vocals. Bobby Debarge was one of those rare talents that come only once in a lifetime. El can come close but El's high notes are somewhat strained where Bobby's was smooth, clear and his octave range was natural not forced. If you disagree just listen to "Dont take your Love away" and then you be the judge.

It is interesting to note how different El and Chico's stage presences are. Chico comes off as sexier, earthier, more grounded and older than El, who is in fact 5 years older than Chico. El comes off as a manchild, ethereal, more magnetic and intangible.

I also have thought that it would get to get El to reunite with DeBarge for a tribute album to Bobby's Switch classic. Bunny co-wrote much of Bobby's contribution to Switch's last two hit albums including the top ten soul classic "Love Over and Over." Would be nice to hear she and El sing many of those songs together. El could really take on "There'll Never Be" (with Randy doing a mean Guitar Solo) and "I Call Your Name".

The problem with any reunion is that James, who has a worst voice than Chico, would want to hog the songs that only El can handle. This happened during the Sinbad Soul Fest in 98 and El walked off the stage. I heard the same thing happened during Tom Joyners Sky show. I could see James however handling the emotion packed "You and I" which Bobby wrote for Latoya Jackson and James could sing as a tribute to Janet. But James must learn that he has to leave the sweet soul music to El!

This remake of the Switch classic is wonderful for historic reasons but falls short of the magic of the original with Bobby and Phillip Ingram. Although Chico tries hard, he's not up to par, only El can feel Bobby's shoes as a singer. Wish they would release a love song compilation on Switch, they were master of the love jam.

I agree with foreverlarge. El is the closet thing to Bobby. I read somewhere that El was approached by Gregory Williams of Switch, to join in Bobby's place some years ago, and he turned it down. Everytime I hear this or any song Bobby or El sings on (ballads), I become more inspired and hopeful. I also write songs and whatnot, and this video is an example of good soul and a good impression of what love is about.
