I'll probably get Backlash for this... But as kid, I HATED this ending.. (I was 12 or 13 in 2001? I think.) But yeah..I had spent the whole game looking for this girl, trying to save her... and then in the end He has her RIGHT THERE, and he just let's her go.. I mean, If I Loved a girl, I would want her by my side where I can protect her. It just pissed me off. I didn't cry, I frowned. >:[ I was like CMON! KAIRI JUST JUMP OVER! She uses a Keyblade in KH2 so BS sayin she can't defend herself. >:\

the reason neither of them "jumped" or whatever was because:

a) Sora didn't want to return to Destiny Islands with Riku missing, so he left Kairi there while he went looking for him.

b) Kairi also didn't follow Sora because maybe she felt that if she did, she'd only trouble him, so she let him go and waited till his return.

P.d. yeah, i cried with this ending... and KH2 wasn't released in my country by the time, so i was like dying inside :B

Kingdom Hearts is gay now, but originally Kingdom Hearts had some of the best characters and one of the best stories of any game at that time.

The reason why this is so sad is because you literally spend the whole game trying to find Kairi and shortly after you get her back(and conscious) near the end, you lose her again.
