My 04 honda crv- caught fire under the engine while driving from oil that was leaking from the fram oil filter gasket. It had to be towed. As a result the main wiring harness was burnt up , the firewalls need replacement, header protector needed removal, and I spent time spraying degreaser for hours to try and clean the mess...I will never ever buy fram products again! Save yourself the service bills and time, I wish I did. Definitely spending the extra dollar for a Wix filter. Screw fram!
my old '89 Toyota truck had 300,000 miles on it and I used a fram filter at every 3000 mile oil change. the math=100 fram filters with out a failure of the filter! I finally sold the truck because the fuel pump quit.
@bonecracker1123 White filter canister=surrender. Black filter canisters=certain death. Orange filter canisters= stay away from both White & Black filter canisters! Fram for life!
In every INDEPENDENT study I've read, Fram air, oil, and fuel filters have consistently managed to finish at the bottom of the list, well below the performance of AC Delco, Wix, and Purolator. If you have any INDEPENDENT studies to refute this information, please provide them for everyone to see.
"I guess you think everything on YouTube and the Internet is true too huh? "
An independent study would be a study conducted by a party that has no vested interest in the products being tested, thus the results are straightforward and unbiased. DUH! And I'm still waiting for you to post your INDEPENDENT study results for myself and everyone else to see. BTW, as a shill for Fram, do they know you go around insulting their potential customers?
"Learn to read and look up engineering tests and you may actually learn something. Here is an example, the least expensive Fram filter, extra guard, is 96% efficiency and the WIX filter costing a buck fifty more is in the 88% range. @cadzillals6 I think you're afraid to speak publicly since you are a shill for Fram. For everyone else, this is cadzillals6's private message reply to my comment below:
"Byindepentdent study you mean some dude sitting at a kitchen table cutting open filters? How does that show how much dirt a fi
Ter removes from the oil? How does it show filter capacity? Car makers use ISO 4548-12 filter test to test oil filters. We publish our test results from 4548-12 on our website and on the filter box."
@audiocable dude mobil 1 are garbage also look at them on youtube, purolator, wix and napa gold are the best on the shelf oil filters. if you want to step it up get the royal purple or amsoil oil filter.
Get serious guys..have you ever seen a fram filter sold in a quality store. Have you ever seen a fram filter on a comercial engine of any type. They're just cheap junk filters for people who don't know better. You can expect the same quality from those quicky lube places. If you want the best filter buy a Napa Gold, Baldwin..or carquest or dealership. Trust me I've cut most of them open.
@warbirdsp51 lol look at you spamming my channel with bullshit and those filters are not your everyday go to walmart and buy it type thing and its only used once and also tell me why when i go to junk yards every car that has a blown engine it has a fram filter on it well about 95% of them anyways
Fram oil filters are bad but i dont think they are as bad as people make them out to be. I dont use them because you can get 10 times better of a filter for the same price as fram but really has anybody ever seen an engine fail that can be traced back to a fram oil filter? i dont think so.
i've never had a problem with a fram filter but after seeing this & a few other of your videos of fram filter construction, i'm surprised at how fram builds their filters......pretty cheap design! I'm using wix filters now
None of the filters he reviewed gives your engine the protection it needs. None of them. The best way to go is with a filter bypass setup. Check out vids on Amsoil bypass system or Kleenoil bypass as examples of what I'm talking about. All the filters he reviewed only remove particles down to about 20 microns. The clearances in your engine can be less than 3 microns. Guess what happens when a 20 micron metal shaving gets between a piston ring and cylinder wall. GO WITH BYPASS SETUP....FTW!
The By-pass is the best for sure, but the Amsoil EAo spin on is the best full flow on the market, it is 98.7% @ 15 microns. The Amsoil By-Pass is 98.7% @ 2 microns. order your bypass filter by calling (877)-57-BY-PASS
Too bad there is no science here, only the uninformed opinions of a moron who knows nothing about filters, that goes for all your reviews, try and maybe actually learn something about filters before you make stupid comments
Wow you are the real moron here. Lets see here. Thinnest case of all the filters. Worst media and fewest pleats than all the other filters. Tarrible anti drainback valve setup. Cardboard caps glues to the media that can easily seperate and let unfiltered oil get through. Fram is down right junk plain and simple.
PLEASE check your spelling BEFORE calling somebody a "moron". Fram/Honeywell has made stock filters for Honda for quite some time. Now if Honda uses them, then they must be good (otherwise Honda wouldn't put their name on it and sell it for 8 bucks). Also for all the Fram haters, put up proof of a failed Fram (along with application info) or shut up because unmerited speculation is not science.
All it takes is one of those there movie cameras and you can make your own movies about filters, dumbass. I will gladly watch those. In the meantime why don't you do some research and see that companies like Cummins are voiding warranties for the use of Fram. I'm sorry you use Fram and are now insulted by a YouTube video. Just switch to a good filter with a coil spring & move on.
it had to do with parts of the filter clogging the piston cooling nozzle in the 5.9L. Cummins pulled the TSB due to a lawsuit threat & Fram changed some of the filter materials, but I still would not use one in ANYTHING.
I have had multiple requests for that particular filter, and I have passed it on to my producer who is the guy that bought all of the filters. I think he is trying to find one. Thanks for the request!

Ya as you see they are Crap filters. They have paper end caps, poor construction of the filter paper inside and not much of it.
The only good thing about them is the grip but what's the point the grip doesn't help ur engine.
A List of GOOD OIL FILTERS:
-----------------------------------------
Wix, Napa Gold (made by wix), Purolator Pure One, K&N, Amsoil, some Mobil 1 Filters.

WOW! Fram/Honeywell makes the Mopar filters for the Cummins Diesel engines too. Good old fashioned Detroit mismanagement.

From my research, it was the Fleetguard LF3349 that failed on the Cummins engines, not Fram, it was superseded by the FleetGuard LF3949.
