And the tune in the background..."One little, two little, three little Indians, four little, five little, six little Indians...". Oh good Lord have we evolved socially!
Budweiser and Miller are on top now all because of advertising. Back in the 50s and 60s, PBR, Schlitz, Blatz, Hamm's , Miller, Budweiser, and Old Style were in the same ballpark for popularity. None of them are all that bad, but I do prefer Miller.
@Wdroster Even in the early mid 70's. I was a ltlle kid living ouside of Milwaukee. My parent's/relatives, and all of their friends drank Pabst, Old Stlye, Hamm's, Old Milwaukee, Olympia, and Schlitz, or Miller. No one drank Coor's, and few drank Bud. I can still remember the smell of the breweries driving through Milwaukee, and I was only 3-5 yrs old. Almost 42 now.
LOL! El Toritos has beer glasses like these last Friday. That guy at 0:23 is the reason they put heavy machinery warnings on alcohol. Walking between a twitchy horse to a thresher being driven by a guy on his 3rd, getting liquored up.
I love Pabst. I consider myself someone who goes against the grain here so I don't buy American products very often. Hate American cars, hate American beer (especially gay ass Budweiser), hate American women, etc., but there is one American beer that I will drink, and that's Pabst. Americans hate it so I drink it down with gusto. Yep, Pabst, a true rebels beer!
@CoheedMars90 Man, that's horrible. When I go to my usual bar, I tend to get a 40oz PBR, since they're only $4.50 (and pints of it are $2.50, so it's a way better deal). Ha, I even have a PBR cozy for it! How close are you to the border and is it feasible to buy a couple cases in the states and drive home? Haha.
@canman87 I'm not close enough, and I'm only 20 so I can't but anything. Pabst here is literally as low down the beer food chain as it gets. If you can get Pabst at a bar, it's because you're drinking at home.
@CoheedMars90 Yeah, I can agree with that. We have Pabst on tap all over the place here, but there are plenty of places that get high-quality beer from all over the place. I work at one such place and we're constantly rotating our taps and getting beers we've never had before. There are the "tried and true" selections that we tend to fit into our rotation, but new stuff is constantly appearing. I love it.
In beer ads noone ever seems to drink from the can like in the real world, and they always overflow the glasses and the drinker doesn't seem to mind wasted beer and a sticky glass. Maybe they were drunk already when they poured the beer ? lol
Both steam traction engines built in 1920's. Two brands I can identify are Greyhound and AD Baker steam engines. Pabst company made an idea for commercial. Film was taken in Illinois show sometime mid 70's. I know one engine now owned in Pennsylvania. One engine only made 121. 12 remained today.
Um, not exactly...That kind of beer glass is called a schooner. Pabst always featured them in their ads in the late 1960s and early 1970s as an old-timey part of its "Good Old Time Flavor" theme.
i love pbr as much as the next guy, but whats with the 2 inch high half glasses of head they are pouring in this video? learn to pour a fuckin beer right, 60's pbr commercial guy.
Yes, 'Badger', that famous "What'll You Have?" jingle {briefly heard at :21 and :50}- which used "Ten Little Indians" as its melody- was first heard on TV and radio in 1950, and revived for this ad...
hell yea...the finally lowered the price again on PBR. it was 1.28 for a tall boy. then they changed it to 1.35...now it gone down to a nice 98 cents. Heineken? Fuck that shit! Pabst Blue Ribbon!
No, no--that's an echo of the most famous Pabst jingle ever, the one they used in the 1950s. if you look for a Pabst commercial with the phrase "What'll you have?", you've found it. When sung it went
Farmalldoctor It wasn't the same situation in Medina. The only thing I heard people saying some of steam show association banned him to exhibit his Case 110 because careless of low water. The only way he brought is in during the fairground time. It was not the accident but operator have done the wrong direction. See you at smokstak. Take care see you at your local show.
I don't think I want steam engineer get drunk because of unthinking of water gauge due to explosions. We don't want this happen like Medina steam engine explosion back in 2001. Safety is a factor and spectators around community. Honest is the answer I seen this happened once in Iowa with low water below water level gauge eeeek!
Easy there, Greyhound. (with all due respect)Those of us who enjoy a few Pabst are not all irresponsibe. Do Not lop us in the same category as that ass in Medina! he wasn't drunk...he was an idiot! All he did was tarnish the respect held for us experienced, respectable engineers. Just my honest opinion of course.....
Thanks for posting!! I know there was a steam engines operations in Illinois area in mid to late 70's. One of 24 hp Greyhound steam engine operation I know who currently owned. That's true, Pabst no longer does TV ads and very little advertising. Yet, its presence has grown dramatically over the last 5 years.
