there is a 6th most dangerous types: the bullies for christ, the screamers ranters and ravers who use hell as an offensive weapon who think that terror makes converts, he hates the feelggod types with a passion but holds the opposite error,
no, i am not suggesting you are one of them but there are one t4rick dogs who do nothing but scream and rant,

shall i name names? for they are the most deadly of the pharisees, having the soundest of professed doctrine and the most bitter hatred and rage
are you fucking crazy?!?!? carl sagan never did harm to anyone, he touched many lives with his teachings and humbleness and still he didnt force it upon anyone nor did he try to get attention or followers unlike christianity. fuck you i hope a fucking comet lands on you!
@pennylaneproductions Okay telling people that they are going to burn in a fiery pit called Hell where demons will be poking them with pitchforks for all eternity, if they don't accept Jesus Christ, is not going to convince them to believe, nor was it ever what defined what a Christian was. Historically, a Christian was someone who was baptized into the Church (The Orthodox Christian Church). The only thing that will make a person believe is if they experience it for themselves.
Beyond ignorant. If The dirtbag King David is in heaven and Carl Sagan is in hell, I know where I want to go. I would be proud to even consider myself one of "Sagan's ilk" You have a lot to prove. First of all, prove with logic and evidence that book you quote from is accurate about anything. Quantify exactly where hell is if it's real. Prove that your anthromorpic sky daddy exists, tell us where the ressurected body and heaven are.How did the ressurected body survive space? where is it?
wow, this is garbage. i think you good sir are the one who we will see in hell for your over zealous damnation of others. and i agree, id rather burn in hell if that is where ppl like Carl sagan go, rather then spend an eternity with blind fools who are arrogant enough to believe they know the mind of god enough to judge who and who doesnt go to hell
Any God that either condemns one to Hell, or simply let's them fall there, isn't loving or all powerful or probably even really a "God"...since if he were all of those things, there would be no hell, no free will, and no reason to even worry about any of this.
It's fear mongering and I don't appreciate it. I don't care if it's Fox News, Pastor Fuckhead or Al (we need a carbon tax or we'll all die) Gore. Fuck every single one of them because life is too short and too precious to live in fear.
If there is a hell (Doubtful), Then I have no problem going there. I believe whole-heartedly in science and do not base faith and belief where there is lacking evidence. I am fully prepared to suffer an 'eternal damnation' for my beliefs. You believe blindly and follow the herd to avoid damnation. You are the coward sir, not I.
@SH10JogaBonito Manipultae them into doing what? Most people like you see the vile, pagan Catholic church and say to yourselves 'the Bible was written to give a few control over many'. In fact the Bible doesn;t give anyone control over anyone (which you' know if you read it). Believers are supposed to be good citizens and obey the law (oh, yeah, and stop sinning, of course) . There's no motive AT ALL for men to 'invent' a book like the Bible. Nice try.
The poster is definitely a cynic, but there most certainly was a motive, it just wasn't malicious as was just suggested. Hell was invented to keep people in line. To create fear of doing truly evil things. Over time it has been manipulated by "moral authorities" to include things that really aren't that bad and worst yet, to suggest that a mere lack of belief is enough to land you there.
But it was invented with the best intentions, I believe.
You disgust me. Stop quoting bible verses and pretending to know things you cannot know. Carl Sagan was a great, kind, and appreciative man and you are a disgrace to your fellow Christians who don't share your pathetic, biased, and intolerant views and the rest of humanity.
You try to condemn Carl Sagan as someone who thought God existed but suppressed this belief? You know nothing.
You stupid piece of shit! How dare you say something like that about Carl Sagan. He was more brilliant then you will ever or have the potential to be. Fuck you, fuck you, and
do you realy belive that the man who sayd "The beauty of a living thing is not the atoms that go into it, but the way those atoms are put together. I find it elevating and exhilarating to discover that we live in a Universe which permits the evolution of molecular machines as intricate and subtle as we." is gonna go to your imaginery hell? because of "humans" like you this planet IS indeed hell and still in dark ages.
@narkalios He said it himself...the intricacy, the subtlety... no one could really believe it 'just happened'...he denied the Creator because theknowledge didn;t suit him and lived in rejection of what he knew to be true.
Bear with me for this quote (which describes people like Sagan)
Ro 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: (CON'T)
@narkalios (CON'T) Ro 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Ro 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Religion is dangerous because it allows human beings who don't have all the answers to think that they do. Most people would think it's wonderful when someone says, "I'm willing, Lord! I'll do whatever you want me to do!" Except that since there are no gods actually talking to us, that void is filled in by people with their own corruptions and limitations and agendas.
I know you think this isn't a personal attack on anyone you used as an illustration in the video, but it is. Especially against my hero Carl Sagan. His science and skepticism helped him better appreciate and understand the life we have; he showed me the deeper sense of spirituality in Darwin's evolution than in any unifying creator. He remained skeptical to his death, appreciating life all along the way--something I think "God" would appreciate much more than blind faith.
@TheBroganBurke Indeed, God does not condone blind faith. I think so-called 'Christians' who believe whatever the pastor says are idiots! However, an objective look at the the evidence, weighed logically necessitates a Creator. As for Mr. Farley, I know he appealed to many but that type of humor is too low-brow for my taste. Poop, farts, smut, groin kicks, hammy overacting...all that trash stuff never made me laugh. A writer has to work a little harder than that.
Also, one thing I find disturbing is that Christian theology says that if Hitler, a Christian, repented his sins he would be accepted in heaven but your hypothetical "Billy Goodheart" would burn for all eternity simply because he didn't believe in something, no matter how much good he would do.
@inverseactuality Billy Goodheart, like Hitler, sinned against God many times. A hypothetical; Hitler who acknowledged this and asked mercy would receive it. A man who feels he is 'good enough' has committed the ultimate insult to God.
I could only assume Billy Goodheart is non-Christian (or else he'd know that Christian theology says he must ask for forgiveness) so I'd assume it's more of a "I don't believe I have to" than an "I'm smug and arrogant". Assuming you're Christian, if I were to believe in your God, politely put, I wouldn't agree with him or his ways very much.
you should shut the fuck up and take this idiot down. who the fuck are you to say who's going to hell? you're trash to think this way. let me ask you a question; would a serial killer who believed in god go to heaven when he passed away? i assume you'd say yes because i've asked this same question to people who seem to have the same views as you and they say they would go to heaven because they believed. but someone who simply doesn't believe in god, but is a good person, deserves to go to hell?
@thequeenofneverwas As you have found, everyone you ask, has their own opinion, and you'll get many answers. Even tho you don't agree, Christians believe that Hell is real. Going there isn't determined by belief in God, but believing in the sacrificial death of Jesus, for sin. Christians get a lot of flack for speaking about hell, as tho they "delight in it". It is real to them, and it is out of a grave concern for others, not arrogance, that compels them to warn.
You are a self-righteous prick of the highest order, revelling in your perceived superiority and delighting in the imagined torture of those who do not share your backward ideologies.
@StrangerSmith Self-righteous? No. righteous through Christ, yes. Perceived superiority? No. Delighting in imagined torture? No, grieved at the punishment of wicked God-rejecters therefore warning them. You're not batting 1000, are you?
@pennylaneproductions I was so miserable going to Christ that I had to get away and enjoy life. But yeah you're probably right, but sending nice people to burn is too mean for me to get behind.
@Deadjoe669 I do, yes. I have another channel dedicated to refuting Catholicism and Orthodox Churches. To an outsider that must seem divisive and unloving but they have a false priesthood, a false gospel and engage in all kinds of ungodly practices. My other channel is called catholicexodus.
How dare you make false claims about Carl Sagan. He did not 'profess himself to be wise'. On the contrary, he emphasized that it is the religions, those who claim to be certain about things which are unknowable, that are to be brought into question. Carl saw the Cosmos as wonderful, not because he understood it, but because it was a constant bringer of surprise. You display a stupendous ignorance concerning his life and an arrogance concerning the universe. Shame on you sir.
What a petty, hateful little video. Perhaps this was meant to caution fellow Christians about the possible pitfalls of faith, but it just seemed like so much gloating to me.
@HunchbackJack There's certainly no hate or gloating here. Those notions are products of reprobate minds who desperately search for any way to disqualify the gospel message by attacking the intentions of the messengers. Unfortunately, con men like the preachers on TV and real hatemongers like Westboro Baptist Church (though their public persona differs from the FAQs on the website) give plenty of ammunition. Bottom line time: why should an all-holy God accept YOU?
Well, with all due respect, who are YOU to judge?
You may have a sound footing scripturally for what you're saying, but getting up on your high horse and pointing triumphantly - even gleefully - down at all those you think are doomed to Hell is hardly the act of a loving Christian. You're coming across as hateful and superior. "Holier-than-thou", even.
Well, perhaps so, but it certainly comes across that way. Which is my point.
You could also add a sixth person you'll meet in Hell - Smug and Smarmy Smith, the Christian quick to point out all the way in which others damn themselves, while forgetting that redemption comes from God.
unfortunatly, it takes a belief in hell to fear going to it. the universe, reality, nature- whatever you choose to refer to it as, doesn't care what happens after we die since justice and retrobution are, unfortunatly, human concepts. we're born, we live, we die, and whatever spark of a soul we have rejoins the universal continuum of the cosmos.Or it just sits in limbo eating pie.one of the two.
my point is, religion many have the spiritual thing down, but punishment? purely a human idea.
Wouldn't drunkenness send Jesus to hell? He drank a lot of wine... Judging by the lack of regulation on the fermentation process back then I'm sure that stuff was pretty potent.. and when they ran out he made more out of water to keep the party going... To say that someone is going to hell is an arrogance that is punishable by the same.. I will not say who and who is not going to hell for any reasons... It is not my place... Perhaps the creator of this video should learn his.
@pennylaneproductions Well sir... The only part of the Bible claiming to be written by the hand of god are the 10 commandments.. None of which say "thou shalt not believe in evolution" or "thou shalt not lay with another man".. I think you are too quick to deal out damnation my friend.. It's not your place to even insinuate anyone specifically is going to hell.. Only God can do that.. Did Jesus tell Mary Magdalene she is going to hell for being a prostitute?
Open your eyes and you will see that a world without a god is quiet so possible, if you would just start to look at the world instead of looking into a 2000 year old book! If god chooses to put Carl Sagan, a person that popularized science, made people aware of the enviroment and at least to some extent helped to end the arms race between the United states and the Soviet union are going to hell then god is just another dumbfuck. I would rather stay in that gods hell than in his heaven.
@bballqueen13 I totally agree, only this point doesn't tend to work very well when arguing against "true believers". They're convinced that it's not them condemning anyone, they're just expressing the documented opinions of the creator and controller of the entire universe. I can't imagine thinking of the world in such simplistic terms anymore... it seems unfathomable now to think that someone could fail to comprehend the fact that believing something really strongly doesn't make it true.
The fact that someone could actually believe that a god that sends these kinds of people to eternal torture is good and just goes to show how religion warps people's sense of ethics and morality. Any "god" that punishes people who are essentially good, but are curious, skeptical, or simply like to enjoy themselves is clearly evil.
@XR4dashIT The first theme is my own. The second is from the 'Noir' soundtrack (that's an anime series) by Yuki Kajiura (it's listed at the end of the vid)
carl sagan in hell? yes it seems that bigots like you condemn the very people who spend their lives trying to make yours better. i think i'd prefer hell personally. heaven with a vengeful prick of a god and a bunch of asshole believers, or hell with sagan. no contest. see you soon mr sagan. we have much to talk about :) <3
What about, "Joey McJudgly", those 12 year old brain types who think it's their job to spread hate and inform us all about how's going were??? Thank you for reminding me how dumb this country can be.
This is a clusterfuck of stupidity. You should be ashamed of the fact that natural selection is stifled to the point where someone like you can live to learn how to read. PS. Go Fuck Yourself you Ignorant Cunt
I'll be a Sheldon Goodsense if I get to meet people as dignified and humble as Carl Sagan. I'll be what you curse and damn if I get to see the truth with unbiased eyes. I won't try to stretch or hide facts to match predetermined claims because it provides the comfort. I'll only learn and understand what is actually there, not what I want to be there.
I'm sorry if I won't believe in a cosmic father figure who will punish me forever for not being his cheerleader.
The concept of hell is itself immoral. Infinite punishment for a finite crime (not accepting Jesus into your heart/worshiping God). Why should anyone worship this god to begin with? Because were were supposedly created by him? Our parents created us, should we then also worship our parents?
If your logic is correct then apparently Caligula, Papa Doc, Hitler, Stalin, the guy who dressed as a clown and murdered children, and Nathaniel Bedford are in heaven?
And people like Mother Teresa, Mohandas Ghandi, Carl Sagan, and Ann Frank are in hell?
I bet you think hatemonger Pat Robertson, sherif Joe Arpaio, and Fred Phelps are going to heaven?
@zacharyleon and fuck no, i dont wanna start a flame war, but everything points away from god. all science. and the universe popped into existance through a big bang, and that big bang was started from the collision of two membranes in the eleventh dimension. do some research before you try to look heroic onyoutube. atleast know what you fighting against
@Bag0bandaids How do you know? You don't. No one does, and there is a chance that no one ever will. Even when we are dead, there is a chance that we will never know who or what created everything... If anything. If God does not exist, what is your theory on how the universe popped into existence? Will you go by the blind hypotheses of science? Although you cannot prove there is a god, you cannot prove that there isn't. You can only prove what is simple enough for your own mind to comprehend.
i 100% see your point @ZacharyLeon , it is just that all our scientific discoveries in the modern world have pointed towards a godless universe, but you are right, i don't know for sure, but my best hypothesis is that there isn't one. and science isn't blind, it is a conclusion based on the gathering of evidence. that my friend, is not blind. but when people asked how the universe and all things came into existence, i ask how did god come into existence? it is un-winnable argument on both sides.
@Bag0bandaids I agree. It isn't winnable. It's just very frustrating when everyone acts like they know things. No one does. Science can't even prove that dragons aren't real. Science is based upon logic. Of course it is logical/rational that they clearly do not exist, but you cannot prove it. Unless you are omnipotent, you can't say that ANYTHING does not exist.
@Masowai Supposedly everyone has been given the chance to get into heaven. Even if you speak no language, know nothing of religion whatsoever, god will give you the chance. Supposedly. Great point! I've always wondered the same.
@Masowai Thanks for writing. Unlike any other 'holy' book, the Bible is solidly corroborated. It alone contains accurate history, prophecy and, yes, even science. There most certainly must be a creator; things do not get more complex and come to life on their own. So did that God reveal Himself? Only the Bible passes objective scrutiny (see the many unbelievers who have been converted by studying the evidence). As for 'those who have not heard, SEE NEXT POST
@Masowai CONTINUED. The Bible says (in Romans 1) that it is obvious to EVERYBODY that there is a God though many do not like to retain this knowledge (like so-called atheists). If a man has it within him to receive God on His own terms, I believe God will get the truth to him. People in the Old Testament didn't go around talking about Jesus, but they worshipped the one true God. Now since Jesus has come, it is essential not to reject Him...why? SEE NEXT POST
@Masowai CONTINUED PT. 3 Why must it be Jesus? The answer is the key to what's wrong with EVERY other religion. Many deny sin, violation of God's law (for which there is no scale to balance nor statute of limitations) and others put 'works' in place to atone for them. None of this works. Jesus bore the (absolutely necessary) penalty for our sins. If one doesn't believe, they cannot receive the forgiveness. (bad analogy: a check that is not cashed). ONE MORE BOX, PLEASE
PT 4 The real issue is this: what about you? Have you ever sinned? Certainly. Are your sins atoned for? Apparently not. In spite of what you see in cult churches like Catholicism, the true gospel is quite simple. a) repentance toward God and b) faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21)
The resentment people have toward Christians is amazing. They shriek 'They want us to be just like them!" Yes, we do. At peace with God, loving our neighbors, full of joy and hope. Guilty as charged.
@pennylaneproductions Uh... clearly you don't understand the criticism non-believers have towards Christianity or other religions. What amazes me is how few christians can grasp the concept that they haven't demonstrated a single reason to take anything they say seriously. Would you believe someone who tried to convince you that the Lord of the Rings is non-fiction by quoting passages from the books to you? Why then, are bible quotes supposed to convince me that it is an infalliable holy text?
@Masowai yes...Islam is the religion! I say that with no equivocations because Islam, as many people do not know, is not an ism; it is not after a tribe or nation of people. the concept of Islam is the surrender of the soul to the One God. The One God who has sent over 144,000 prophets and messengers to humanity since the begining of time; Muhammed simply being the last one. The prophets from around the world are similar because they descend from the same source.
@Masowai As far as your analogy, yes a person living in a forest never knowing 'religion' but worshipping the One would enter heaven, on the basis what is called 'fitra', original disposition. meaning humans before being taught doctrines have pure notion of the 1 Lord as babies. As we get older our parents instruct us about the 'trinity', or many Gods.
I became a muslim after really reading the bible & realising, jesus himself never claimed the doctrines ascribed to him.
@Masowai Muhammed is the continuation of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Job,Joseph, Moses and Jesus (All mentioned in the Quran) as spreading the message of what we call Islam.
Muhammed declared 'All prophets have been shepherds' after research, I discover Krishna was a shepherd, Confucious was a shepherd and many other historical sages have been referred to has shepherd. Although not mentioned by name, muslims would consider them prophets along with socrates, Bhudda.
@Masowai What happens with this great men though is that, after they leave, they are transformed into Gods and legends are formed, they teachings lost or distorted and without knowing what they ever taught we name their teachings Confuciousism, Bhuddaism, Judaism, Christanity,Hinduism......these names were not used by them or even heard. So why do we not question?
Because of our tribal mentalities, take some time, research and discover the religion of the heavens and earths,
Though I don't fall into any of those five categories, I am still a sinner, as we all are. I am genuinely remorseful for my sins and do my best to learn from them and improve my situation, but it's hard when temptation is always lurking around the corner. It's like I'm constantly pulling weeds out of my garden, and when I turn around, new weeds spring up where the old ones were removed. Life is a constant struggle in that regard, and I hope it's worth it when it's all said and done.
I've never seen atheist people (or people who are sceptical about religions) who condemn religious people. It's always religious people who condemn non-religious people. Now tell me who's more evil.
penny lane you are one lost motherfucker. i cant belive you would make a video like this. you have carl sagan going to hell?wtf? you are lost in yout cult.
This video pointed out one of the main problems I have with the Christian idea of God. "His good deeds are not enough"... of course being a good person is not enough- he should bow to his dictator. If that is how God treats the inhabitants of this universe, then he is nothing short of an asshole.
Imagine there's no Heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace
@thaqui Imagine til you're blue in the face. Imagine there's a new Jaguar in your driveway. Is it now there? If a criminal 'imagines' there's no jail, wil he not end up there anyway if he's caught? Likewise all sinners are already busted and sentenced. This song saddens me because I grew up with Lennon...when the Beatles were still recording. Now that I know the truth I am grieved for him. Poor lost soul (unless he happened to repent and we don't know it)
And if Muslims are right, all Christians will burn in hell for worshiping an idol. Seriously though, religion is so fucked up. Carl Sagan was a great man, and suffered a great deal through his illness near the end of his life. It's sick to think that ANYONE that ever lived is burning in hell. Eternal punishment cannot be justified for a finite amount of "sin"
seriously, go to hell; you will find your parrents there. Those people did nothing wrong rather than not believing in your religion. Where is the tollerance? FU
seriously, go to hell; you will find your parrents there. Those people did nothing wrong rather than not believing in your religion. Where is the tollerance? FU
IF hell and heaven existed, and I had to choose between a hell with those people, and a heaven with brainless, self-righteous christians like yourself, I'd choose hell any time. So yeah, this isn't really helping your case, is it?
@pennylaneproductions: I almost wish such a thing as a hell existed, and wasn’t just a malignant fantasy – which it is by the way – just so I could meet Carl Sagan.
Neither Heaven nor Hell. Time to wake up and realize that the logic of the Universe does not care about our fears or even of our existence. God was born at the dawn of human consciousness, and will die with the last one of us, humans, that still believe in "Him".
(Cont'd) you feel better! The universe is not required to be in harmony with human ambitions! If we pass it all off to a 'God', then what if nobody comes to save us from ourselves and the destruction of the planet? It's our responsibility, and even if there is something out there, we cannot afford to gamble the only home we have now or have ever known
CARL SAGAN MADE THE COSMOS SERIES! And believing something you cannot prove by experiment is just stupid! Believing in God without solid physical or historical evidence is just like believing in the Flying Spaghetti Monster just because you would like it to exist! If you can someday give me direct physical or historical proof of a 'God' I, and I'm sure the scientific community would believe you, or at least investigate the matter. You cannot base your life believing something because it makes
Dear God, man! And yes, I know what I just said! All the stuff on that little list of yours is basically half of human experience! Take that all away, world'd be pretty boring, don't ya think?
I think Romans 1:22 is talking about people like you. But I have good news for you, you're not going to hell. It's just that god really doesn't want to talk to you and he may have some questions for you when you get there.
This has to be one of the most ignorant things I've ever seen.
It's outrageous to the point I can't wait for all of us to die so you can see there's absolutely NOTHING on the other side. Too bad I won't be able to laugh at your ignorance then, and you won't be able to be dissapointed. THEN we would have a fair world.
And even if you're right, I still prefer to be an atheist. I'll get to hang out with Carl Sagan. I recon the conversations with him will be much more interesting.
@LesPaul2006 That statement showed Sagan's folly. There is evidence for creation and Christ, unlike evolution and atheism. The again, he did have a point; it depends on how you define believer. A believer in, say, Scientoogy, bases his belief on nothing. A Christian has evidence. The atheists 'needs' to believe there is no God in spite of it.
If there were a hell, I'd say say the Pope, one or two of his child-molesting priests, Adolfo Hitler (the catholic), and some religious extremist like Bin Laden would be there to greet the creator of this video.
@kingjoe420 Even Gotti? Interesting. No, the 'dream of man' is evolution. Let me ask you; since most life forms use sexual reproduction...does that mean that the 'male' and 'female' had to evolve at exactly the same rate? And of course how did the species survive until that time? How can a tadpole turn into a frog (and a caterpillar to a butterfly) in so short a time? Shouldn't it take millions of years? Do you even think about the stupidity of evolution?
@pennylaneproductions if we look at our distant cousins the plants we see many of them sporting both male and female organs, they can reproduce with themselves to prolong their species, the obvious advantage would be in the numbers, but whats interesting is that they have 16 sets of chromosomes allowing them to absorb mutations within the populous and create small variations within their own "clones".
@TapeCF OK, Mr. Random Chance Mutation. If a guy (maybe one of Gotti's goons) walks up and is about to blow your head off, would that be wrong? If so, why? One more question: If Survival of the Fittest (Natural Selection) has brought us this far, shouldn;t we let our weak relatives just die instead of trying to save them?
@pennylaneproductions Right and wrong are man made concepts I have no grounds to tell you what to believe is right or wrong. Even between different cultures the standards of right and wrong change, as they are not concrete. We don't let our weak relatives die because we care for them and wish to hold them a bit longer in this world which is so very fragile and beautiful. Do not kill a human for you will never see one again in the billions of worlds in our universe. We are an endangered species.
I was racing to hit the Mute button, but was not fast enough. I guess I'm going to hell.

In fact the Bible doesn;t give anyone control over anyone (which you' know if you read it). Believers are supposed to be good citizens and obey the law (oh, yeah, and stop sinning, of course) . pennylaneproductions 4 months ago
@pennylaneproductions
But it was invented with the best intentions, I believe.

narkalios 5 months ago
@narkalios He said it himself...the intricacy, the subtlety... no one could really believe it 'just happened'...he denied the Creator because theknowledge didn;t suit him and lived in rejection of what he knew to be true.
Bear with me for this quote (which describes people like Sagan)
Ro 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: (CON'T)
pennylaneproductions 5 months ago
@narkalios (CON'T) Ro 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Ro 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
That's Sagan and his ilk.

And, fuck off! Chris Farley was comedic gold.
TheBroganBurke 6 months ago
I know you think this isn't a personal attack on anyone you used as an illustration in the video, but it is. Especially against my hero Carl Sagan. His science and skepticism helped him better appreciate and understand the life we have; he showed me the deeper sense of spirituality in Darwin's evolution than in any unifying creator. He remained skeptical to his death, appreciating life all along the way--something I think "God" would appreciate much more than blind faith.
TheBroganBurke 6 months ago
@TheBroganBurke Indeed, God does not condone blind faith. I think so-called 'Christians' who believe whatever the pastor says are idiots! However, an objective look at the the evidence, weighed logically necessitates a Creator. As for Mr. Farley, I know he appealed to many but that type of humor is too low-brow for my taste. Poop, farts, smut, groin kicks, hammy overacting...all that trash stuff never made me laugh. A writer has to work a little harder than that.
pennylaneproductions 6 months ago
@pennylaneproductions
What evidence necessitates a creator?
Also, one thing I find disturbing is that Christian theology says that if Hitler, a Christian, repented his sins he would be accepted in heaven but your hypothetical "Billy Goodheart" would burn for all eternity simply because he didn't believe in something, no matter how much good he would do.
inverseactuality 5 months ago
@inverseactuality Billy Goodheart, like Hitler, sinned against God many times. A hypothetical; Hitler who acknowledged this and asked mercy would receive it. A man who feels he is 'good enough' has committed the ultimate insult to God.
pennylaneproductions 5 months ago
@pennylaneproductions
I could only assume Billy Goodheart is non-Christian (or else he'd know that Christian theology says he must ask for forgiveness) so I'd assume it's more of a "I don't believe I have to" than an "I'm smug and arrogant". Assuming you're Christian, if I were to believe in your God, politely put, I wouldn't agree with him or his ways very much.
inverseactuality 5 months ago
you should shut the fuck up and take this idiot down. who the fuck are you to say who's going to hell? you're trash to think this way. let me ask you a question; would a serial killer who believed in god go to heaven when he passed away? i assume you'd say yes because i've asked this same question to people who seem to have the same views as you and they say they would go to heaven because they believed. but someone who simply doesn't believe in god, but is a good person, deserves to go to hell?
thequeenofneverwas 7 months ago
@thequeenofneverwas As you have found, everyone you ask, has their own opinion, and you'll get many answers. Even tho you don't agree, Christians believe that Hell is real. Going there isn't determined by belief in God, but believing in the sacrificial death of Jesus, for sin. Christians get a lot of flack for speaking about hell, as tho they "delight in it". It is real to them, and it is out of a grave concern for others, not arrogance, that compels them to warn.

Bottom line time: why should an all-holy God accept YOU?

unfortunatly, it takes a belief in hell to fear going to it. the universe, reality, nature- whatever you choose to refer to it as, doesn't care what happens after we die since justice and retrobution are, unfortunatly, human concepts. we're born, we live, we die, and whatever spark of a soul we have rejoins the universal continuum of the cosmos.Or it just sits in limbo eating pie.one of the two.
my point is, religion many have the spiritual thing down, but punishment? purely a human idea.

@bballqueen13 I totally agree, only this point doesn't tend to work very well when arguing against "true believers". They're convinced that it's not them condemning anyone, they're just expressing the documented opinions of the creator and controller of the entire universe. I can't imagine thinking of the world in such simplistic terms anymore... it seems unfathomable now to think that someone could fail to comprehend the fact that believing something really strongly doesn't make it true.
compactdisk2 10 months ago
The fact that someone could actually believe that a god that sends these kinds of people to eternal torture is good and just goes to show how religion warps people's sense of ethics and morality. Any "god" that punishes people who are essentially good, but are curious, skeptical, or simply like to enjoy themselves is clearly evil.

ZacharyLeon 1 year ago
i 100% see your point @ZacharyLeon , it is just that all our scientific discoveries in the modern world have pointed towards a godless universe, but you are right, i don't know for sure, but my best hypothesis is that there isn't one. and science isn't blind, it is a conclusion based on the gathering of evidence. that my friend, is not blind. but when people asked how the universe and all things came into existence, i ask how did god come into existence? it is un-winnable argument on both sides.
Bag0bandaids 10 months ago
@Bag0bandaids I agree. It isn't winnable. It's just very frustrating when everyone acts like they know things. No one does. Science can't even prove that dragons aren't real. Science is based upon logic. Of course it is logical/rational that they clearly do not exist, but you cannot prove it. Unless you are omnipotent, you can't say that ANYTHING does not exist.

ZacharyLeon 1 year ago
@Masowai Thanks for writing. Unlike any other 'holy' book, the Bible is solidly corroborated. It alone contains accurate history, prophecy and, yes, even science. There most certainly must be a creator; things do not get more complex and come to life on their own. So did that God reveal Himself? Only the Bible passes objective scrutiny (see the many unbelievers who have been converted by studying the evidence). As for 'those who have not heard, SEE NEXT POST

@pennylaneproductions "things do not get more complex and come to life on their own."
Never heard of evolution huh? Or if you've heard of it, never bothered to research it, right?
djmk227 1 year ago
@Masowai CONTINUED. The Bible says (in Romans 1) that it is obvious to EVERYBODY that there is a God though many do not like to retain this knowledge (like so-called atheists). If a man has it within him to receive God on His own terms, I believe God will get the truth to him. People in the Old Testament didn't go around talking about Jesus, but they worshipped the one true God. Now since Jesus has come, it is essential not to reject Him...why? SEE NEXT POST
pennylaneproductions 1 year ago
@Masowai CONTINUED PT. 3 Why must it be Jesus? The answer is the key to what's wrong with EVERY other religion. Many deny sin, violation of God's law (for which there is no scale to balance nor statute of limitations) and others put 'works' in place to atone for them. None of this works. Jesus bore the (absolutely necessary) penalty for our sins. If one doesn't believe, they cannot receive the forgiveness. (bad analogy: a check that is not cashed). ONE MORE BOX, PLEASE
pennylaneproductions 1 year ago
PT 4 The real issue is this: what about you? Have you ever sinned? Certainly. Are your sins atoned for? Apparently not. In spite of what you see in cult churches like Catholicism, the true gospel is quite simple. a) repentance toward God and b) faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21)
The resentment people have toward Christians is amazing. They shriek 'They want us to be just like them!" Yes, we do. At peace with God, loving our neighbors, full of joy and hope. Guilty as charged.
pennylaneproductions 1 year ago
@pennylaneproductions Uh... clearly you don't understand the criticism non-believers have towards Christianity or other religions. What amazes me is how few christians can grasp the concept that they haven't demonstrated a single reason to take anything they say seriously. Would you believe someone who tried to convince you that the Lord of the Rings is non-fiction by quoting passages from the books to you? Why then, are bible quotes supposed to convince me that it is an infalliable holy text?
compactdisk2 10 months ago
@Masowai i'm sure they'll see penny there for spreading hate and fear instead of the love and mercy of a forgiving god.
JayIsProDigital 1 year ago
@Masowai yes...Islam is the religion! I say that with no equivocations because Islam, as many people do not know, is not an ism; it is not after a tribe or nation of people. the concept of Islam is the surrender of the soul to the One God. The One God who has sent over 144,000 prophets and messengers to humanity since the begining of time; Muhammed simply being the last one. The prophets from around the world are similar because they descend from the same source.
mrdolike 10 months ago
@Masowai As far as your analogy, yes a person living in a forest never knowing 'religion' but worshipping the One would enter heaven, on the basis what is called 'fitra', original disposition. meaning humans before being taught doctrines have pure notion of the 1 Lord as babies. As we get older our parents instruct us about the 'trinity', or many Gods.
I became a muslim after really reading the bible & realising, jesus himself never claimed the doctrines ascribed to him.
mrdolike 10 months ago
@Masowai Muhammed is the continuation of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Job,Joseph, Moses and Jesus (All mentioned in the Quran) as spreading the message of what we call Islam.
Muhammed declared 'All prophets have been shepherds' after research, I discover Krishna was a shepherd, Confucious was a shepherd and many other historical sages have been referred to has shepherd. Although not mentioned by name, muslims would consider them prophets along with socrates, Bhudda.
mrdolike 10 months ago
@Masowai What happens with this great men though is that, after they leave, they are transformed into Gods and legends are formed, they teachings lost or distorted and without knowing what they ever taught we name their teachings Confuciousism, Bhuddaism, Judaism, Christanity,Hinduism......these names were not used by them or even heard. So why do we not question?
Because of our tribal mentalities, take some time, research and discover the religion of the heavens and earths,
mrdolike 10 months ago
Though I don't fall into any of those five categories, I am still a sinner, as we all are. I am genuinely remorseful for my sins and do my best to learn from them and improve my situation, but it's hard when temptation is always lurking around the corner. It's like I'm constantly pulling weeds out of my garden, and when I turn around, new weeds spring up where the old ones were removed. Life is a constant struggle in that regard, and I hope it's worth it when it's all said and done.

God was born at the dawn of human consciousness, and will die with the last one of us, humans, that still believe in "Him".
andreraduan 1 year ago

@1bad66ss396 I'm a fool because I preach that self-righteous unbelievers and hedonists are lost? What 'Bible' are you reading...The Message?

This has to be one of the most ignorant things I've ever seen.
It's outrageous to the point I can't wait for all of us to die so you can see there's absolutely NOTHING on the other side. Too bad I won't be able to laugh at your ignorance then, and you won't be able to be dissapointed. THEN we would have a fair world.
And even if you're right, I still prefer to be an atheist. I'll get to hang out with Carl Sagan. I recon the conversations with him will be much more interesting.

"An argument with a believer is futile because the believer does not base his/her beliefs in evidence, but in the sheer need to believe in something"
Carl Sagan.
LesPaul2006 1 year ago
@LesPaul2006 That statement showed Sagan's folly. There is evidence for creation and Christ, unlike evolution and atheism. The again, he did have a point; it depends on how you define believer. A believer in, say, Scientoogy, bases his belief on nothing. A Christian has evidence. The atheists 'needs' to believe there is no God in spite of it.

@pennylaneproductions give me some evidence for creation and christianity.

''Life is but a momentary glimpse of the wonders of this universe, and it is sad to see so many dreaming it away on spiritual fantasy.''
- Carl Sagan (1934-1996)
Or conversely, on the threat of spiritual suffering.

Strange how people who think that Jesus is god do not usually quote him directly and prefer, usually, verses not from the gospels.

If there were a hell, I'd say say the Pope, one or two of his child-molesting priests, Adolfo Hitler (the catholic), and some religious extremist like Bin Laden would be there to greet the creator of this video.

god is the dream of man.
kingjoe420 1 year ago 27
@kingjoe420 Even Gotti? Interesting. No, the 'dream of man' is evolution. Let me ask you; since most life forms use sexual reproduction...does that mean that the 'male' and 'female' had to evolve at exactly the same rate? And of course how did the species survive until that time? How can a tadpole turn into a frog (and a caterpillar to a butterfly) in so short a time? Shouldn't it take millions of years? Do you even think about the stupidity of evolution?
pennylaneproductions 1 year ago
@pennylaneproductions
asexual reproduction. look it up. germs and viruses dont fuck to reproduce... but i doubt you will look that up or even reply.
BetaMaleTim 1 year ago
@pennylaneproductions if we look at our distant cousins the plants we see many of them sporting both male and female organs, they can reproduce with themselves to prolong their species, the obvious advantage would be in the numbers, but whats interesting is that they have 16 sets of chromosomes allowing them to absorb mutations within the populous and create small variations within their own "clones".
TapeCF 1 year ago
@TapeCF OK, Mr. Random Chance Mutation. If a guy (maybe one of Gotti's goons) walks up and is about to blow your head off, would that be wrong? If so, why? One more question: If Survival of the Fittest (Natural Selection) has brought us this far, shouldn;t we let our weak relatives just die instead of trying to save them?
pennylaneproductions 1 year ago
@pennylaneproductions Right and wrong are man made concepts I have no grounds to tell you what to believe is right or wrong. Even between different cultures the standards of right and wrong change, as they are not concrete. We don't let our weak relatives die because we care for them and wish to hold them a bit longer in this world which is so very fragile and beautiful. Do not kill a human for you will never see one again in the billions of worlds in our universe. We are an endangered species.
