after listening to a few dubstep artists/ songs (i'll continue listening to more in the spirit of fairness) i think i am finally starting to understand it: wobbly wobbles + A TON of bass = dubstep. same formula every time.. only the pitches are diffrent.. MAYBE diffrent rhythm but basically it's all the same. oh yeah, and insert a few random sound effects here n there for added "variety."

trance, in my experience, is mostly lazy and uninventive with a few standout artists, whereas dubstep has become much more progressive with a lot of artists bringing new stuff to the table, although there is a lot of awful dubstep, psy-trance, on the other hand, is a completely different story
