I wish i could play the piano so well that I could make a living out of just playing ... a dream ... and it will never come true unfortunately ... too late at age 24 to start ... I mean yes, you CAN start, and people DO start ... but you cannot become a virtuoso ... (unless you really have it in you, which is rare)
~ am very new to this genre of music ... blown away by this man's work, conducting and performing at same time ... equally blown away by comments found saying 'he ain't that good' ??? Mozart's music now plays 3-4 hours per day in my world ... thank you for posting these *s
Hi i like your channel and your videos I just want a little favour from you guys.I am a fourth generation musician. I play an instrument which is called rudraveena. its a dying indian classical instrument. it has a 5000 thousand years old musical history. its a rare indian classical music instrument. it is oldest . Only few people are playing this instrument. So please subscribe and add your comment. It will be a great help for this instrument to survive in hi-tech world. go on binsitar
Ashkenazy had wonderfully refined pianism in his heyday. Perfect hand position, excellent articulation achieved without fuss. In fact can't think of a better interpretation of this concerto.
It is so wonderful to hear this iving legend of the piano now that arthritis has ended his career as a pianist. But all that genius is now being directed to the Sydney Symphony Orchestra as our new musical director.
i'm with you on mozart, he lived 35/36 years or so and composed 1029 sonatas, concertos, operas ect in frech, austrian , italian german, spanish and a few more, shear brilliance, shear quality and if i could do 1/100th in engineering as he did for music I would be proud of myself, he is pure genius and that is that, respect respect respect!!!!
Thank you Jobotia for posting all these three videos of this wonderful concerto. I had seen one part on Australian TV (Ovation channel) and have been looking for this concerto ever since. Strange that it seems not very popular and seldom performed? Thanks again !
It is wonderful seeing this video. Thanks very much for putting it on youtube. I so much wish there were more videos of Vladimir Ashkenazy. There must be ones of him playing Rachmaninov or Prokofiev etc. He did so many fantastic concerts.
@imhof78 I agree, he performed in many TV documentaries during his piano solo years. Like you I feel he is under - represented compared to some of contemporaries.

I am not a particular admirer of Ashkenazy, but I enjoyed very much this performance of his in both roles. Thank you so much for posting it.
But what a public... so cold, after what was, at least, an excellent performance. It certainly deserved a standing up ovation.
