Thank you for taking the time to make this video and for taking the time to do it slow and explain it .. versus just putting music on. I am definitely going to check out your other videos and your website ... thanks again !!! And thanks for using colors! mkade it a lot easier to follow along.
Not very good camera work but who cares. Brilliant ideas and thank you for using colour instead of white. What is hard to see sometimes but this is awesome. :)
@clothesandThecity I use baggies when I going to do pipe with only a small amount of colored frosting... just don't buy the cheap thin ones or they will rip.... buy the ones with no zipper ... quart size...or cut the zipper off... I have no had one rip yet :))
Thank you so much for this video! I learned so much and it's such a relief to know I don't have to buy thousands of tips. I learned so much... Cakegenie, you are a genius
cakegenie, this demonstration was just splendid. Thank you for sharing your expertise. I've seen other demo on borders and surely this demo is most excellent. There was no comparison. So many borders using one tip.
this so good, i was hoping wilton had some type of sheet that would show what different tips would do, but even when i've bought kits of cutters and such they don't give directions can you show more examples of what other tips do? this was a really good video thanks
Hi! just want to know the buttercream recipe you use becoz I've never tried buttercream in decorating my cakes. Would be very glad to hear from you. Thanks
When you start each border, you have the tip just slightly up off of the cake, so the icing can spread and build up.... as you get to the end of each shell, you decrease the pressure and taper it down. You touch the tip to the cake at this point so it breaks your flow of icing off...and you are ready to make the next shell. The tip is not touching the cake...until you are ready to break the flow of icing.
Thank you so much for this. I'm just starting to do sheet cakes with edible images on them and this really taught me how to do different borders. Especially because like you said, if you don't have very many different tips (which I don't)it really helped!
I want this video on my G70 phone.

where did you get that bag?
because my mom got a piping bag and its crappy and if i try putting the piping shell in a regualr plastic bag it always rips.
JudyWonn 2 years ago 5
You can purchase the disposable decorating bags at any cake decorating supply. I buy mine in rolls from winbeckler dotcom.
If you have the option get the ones called sure grip. If you don't want to purchase them, you can make your own. You can use the
plastic bag which your powdered sugar comes in. It is a heavier plastic and will not tear. It is also quite pliable to use.

@aparadiseproduction That is such a good idea to use the bag from the icing (powdered sugar). People suggest ziplock bags but mine rip too.
