Its not that we hate rain just that its not like swimming in a creek, pond or lake more like getting that bath that brings the iching, fleas and scratching...course the lighting and thunder dont help, plus we know not to get out in the rain but stay warm and dry. How did I miss this one.

My neighbor had a dog many years ago with that fear. It was a collie/sheppard mix. It looked like a wolf. When a very bad thunderstorm was comiing,she would come to our house,and want to go down into the cellar. We didn't mind. There was never any mess. We could judge the severity of a storm,by if she would want to come into our house during a storm,or not. Poor Lucky.

Friendly FYI: without help, many dogs with thunderstorm phobia (which right now seems "aww cute, the poor thing") can get worse over time, injuring themselves while destroying their owners' property. Comforting a dog who is afraid is not doing the dog any favors - you only reinforce fear & make the problem worse over time. Talk to the vet about noise phobias. Also, try a google search using the words, dogs thunderstorm anxiety - you'll get a lot of good information to start with.

Have you ever noticed that you just never hear of dogs being struck by lightening? Usually it's a guy because we don't have the sense of a dog & insist on hanging out in the rain.....
