my friend made it so it can accept a higher amount of RAM and ive now got 2gb ram, and you can buy off-branded hardrives that can fit, ive recently bought a 250 gb, also with some new internals my local computer man said i needed, i then put the portable cd floppy drive on the the lid halfway in and it looks fab, also got a custom battery, with a stupidly huge amount of battery life, and to date, with no exageration, i still havnt found a laptop quicker and better than i got. but urs is good =]
well if the processor is slow the video quality differs... I had a pc in the past that was kinda like this one and the video's just looked well very pixel scattered this ones is a little faster but everthing changes with the internet...

How much are you getting for these? I've been getting anywhere between 220-320 for them, all 1.2GHz/512/40/WIFI some DVD-RW some CD-ROM. Are you in IT?

and even if it wasnt modded, it would say 1gb ram, instead of 2gb, but in theory even though it only says 1gb it will actually be running a 2gb

i got that computer to. 1.3 GHZ i had change memory to 1024 MB and the harddrive to 120 GB

If you have any xp disk and a portable cd-rom for the C400, just re-install from scratch. You can drivers from the Dell site. good luck

Not too shabby. Playback on sites like youtube are excellent. Downloaded avi's etc have zero lag. I have no complaints.

I don't have CD-ROM's or DVD-RW's that go with these babies, so I get around 200 usually. Wish I could get more. They are worth a lot more.

After they and palypal get through with you, it hardly pays. I'm just a hobbyist who enjoys working on the C400, though, so I'm not complaining.
I am far from a Dell fan, but they did a great job on these laptops.
