I was very glad to see this!! I thought that there was a museum for the Mardi Gras Indians that was destroyed by the 2005 flood (it was in the 9th ward). Do you know if they ever rescued the exhibits? Really enjoy your site, but especially this time of year!!!

@KaliOm You're welcome. The cool thing is the exposure this culture has received through the HBO series Treme. Finally a show about New Orleans that has done a great job of capturing the heartbeat and soul of our city. In a post Katrina environment, a new appreciation has risen both locally & nationally for our Brass Bands. Look at the faces and you'll see a lot of kids picking up the tradition. Where else are tubas and accordions cool? The sights and sounds of New Orleans will live on.
