@808Arsenal I like to see it as more of a free-story game. There's only one true canonical approach to beating the game, but the game will most likely split off (decisions made by the character at certain points) from the true story. In other words, it has a lot of "What if" scenarios.

@808Arsenal In this trailer, we don't actually see the bullet going into Leon and killing him. It's just a cliffhanger capcom's using to make people wanna see what actually happens to Leon. It's very possible he doesn't die. I doubt capcom would retcon 13 years of resident evil history just for an R.E. FPS game that isn't even going to move the main storyline along.

i have actually had the chance to play Operation Raccoon City and i can gladly say that the difficulty of the old games are back, because even with the added run 'n' gun feature the zombies outmatch and outnumber you quite easily

The commandos names are kind of generic. Not a bit deal, but I'm sure they could have found something cooler to name them. I can't say I'm too pumped about this one, but I hope it's good.

The ONLY thing I kind of am on the fence about is this retconning thing, plugging these guys into RE2's storyline. Seems a tad bit forced, but, if Capcom can make it work, I'm all for it. Bringing zombies back is already a step in the right direction. I think they realized after RE5 disappointed tons of fans that it was time to give us what originally hooked us on the series again. Just hope this doesn't shape up to a Call of Duty clone. . . . I'll hold out hope that it won't.

Seriously, Capcom, if you wanted to do a squad game why not have made a game where Chris, Jill, Barry and Rebecca attacked the Umbrella main base in Europe? At least that would have been RELEVANT.

Not only will you have to worry about the opposing army, but also the zombies and monsters crawling all over Raccoon City. And according to the impressions you can bleed after sustaining damage and attract the zombies right to you. Nice mix of survival, action and horror, if you ask me.

@SoraWTK This comment is the best I've seen; you're spot-on. Wasn't even aware of the blood thing. All these people complaining are forgetting one thing; the opening monologue of RE4 basically blew the whole Umbrella plotline right out of the water before the action even began, and RE5 turned the whole thing into a Charlie's Angels flick, so I say there's nothing wrong with going back and exploring (albeit retconning) a bit more details of the core Resident Evil conflict.

You know... I kinda like this "What if.." situation that Capcom is presenting to us. What if you were playing as Umbrella's forces and got to cause the opposite of the original story line's events? I'm okay with this. You're still killing zombies and it's not like you won't have to worry about BOWs attacking because they ALWAYS go out of control (except Nemesis, he was pretty chill). It's the same stuff from before, but you're on Umbrella's side now. I like it.
