Many new homebrewers use the calendar to tell when its time to bottle, you know, "1 week in primary, 2 weeks in secondary, 3 weeks in the bottle, drink" Which nworks well enough for your typical low alcohol medium brown ale, but the smart was to judge is by testing your gravity.
They are called gushers and you bottle a beer that was still fermenting and the priming sugar caused it all to go ape shit
