I'm not actually involved in the game currently, but your setup sounds fine. And apparently the game is.. well, failing, not to put too fine a point on it. A lack of interesting things to do, combined with no real reason to play through the game but once, has created a game with something around 10-20,000 people involved. Game had a lot of promise, but it's crashing and burning, from all accounts.

Well, AGP is generally not as good as PCI-E but it shouldn't make a major difference in your gameplay. I'm not familiar with ATI's cards, though, so I can't compare it to the GeForces that I use, but if it's within the last year or so it should run the game just fine.

If all you want to do is test out your new graphics card, you might want to look into something like Supreme Commander or Crysis. I wouldn't get into a MMO of any sort just to test a graphics card. Now, if the game looks interesting and you like it, then yes, definately, give it a try.

BTW, I'm running a Radeon X1650 Pro 512mb and it runs pretty smooth somewhere between low-med. It's under a $100 card. The good thing is you don't need an Nvidia 8800 to play this ;)

Thank you for the compliment. This video was taken in early Beta, so I'm a lot more powerful than in the actual game, I think. Base defense was something I would decide to do on the fly, if I knew there were a lot of people in the area I might start clearing it out, or if we already held the base I'd sit up top and use my rifle to snipe, but 1vsBase was generally too much for me.

Pretty much. You have to know what enemies are weak to what weapons, and which ones are better for you to use, have the right consumables on hand, and apply your skills as they become useful.

I used Fraps to record it, but I turned off the FPS indicator before recording. For the record, it and the ingame FPS indicator were both hovering between 3-5 FPS. If you meant something else, I can try to explain.

Well, at the time this video was taken the players were severely overpowered. After the next patch, though, they rebalanced things back towards the mobs, and I decided it wasn't worth the effort I was putting into it. I'm not sure how it's balanced now. And I played it because I'm a glutton for punishment.

Exactly. Lag and low FPS or system halts are not the same thing. And while you may think this is mindless semantics there is a very important reason for this distinction. If you call everything lag you don't know where to troubleshoot, or probably you will troubleshoot the wrong thing ie. you'll try to fix your connection and not your system. Since the two are easily distinguished visually there's no reason to mix them up.
