@JLAEBB anks. Me too. Joe Higgins has been elected and Clare Daly is very likely also. Predictions are, on a good day, 7 seats for the ULA and 16 for Sinn Féin.
Methinks Ireland will, for the first time in a long time, have a proper right/left divide in the Dáil.
The opposition had a job to and failed / they allowed FF to do what they wanted. they protected abusers / imbezellers / and loaded us with a debt we can never repay. Not one has been punished not one has lost any assets not one has lost there home. Yet they can afford to bring high court actions against state bodies if they have no money haw can they afford legal representation or are we paying for that too. Use your vote get to regulars a shock and change away from the BIG PARTY'S
The mother of a teenage girl who was sexually assaulted by an on-the-run pervert warned: "That animal will strike again". Mohammaed Djouadi failed to turn up at Dublin Circuit court. The mother said: "It's hard for us to imagine him still out there somewhere, I hope that the guards catch himbefore it's too late. I'm sure he'll try the same thing again. "That animal put my daughter through hell."
you said labour were a center party at the start... they ain't left anymore!...Any party that signed that treacherous treasonous treaty are traitors to the left...alliteration and obliteration for them!
@aseireann I don't entirely disagree but Labour are a centrist party (aka populist) and by far the biggest vote getter in a left-leaning coalition. If that kind of government was possible after the election and Labour were willing to negotiate then they would inevitably be dragged to the left of the divide in a lot of their policies. On their own or with Fine Gael, Labour do not offer an alternative is my overall point.
@MrFunkyBoogaloo I dont agree with that like the british labour party they will agree to the massive cuts and roll ahead with the failed fianna fail policies. wake up fianna fail fine gael and labour are all working for the elite. they have all agreed to contiune finna fails policies like the oil and gas and then the bail outs. Votail sinn fein.
@celtsbhoy88 Cuts need to happen, whether you're left, right or in the centre. We have an €18billion deficit. It all depends on where you cut I suppose. If you look at the video again I did point out that every time FF, FG or Lab were in power these governments collapsed and/or ultimately failed the people. My point is that in a left-leaning coalition, Labour would be forced to concede parts of their manifesto to go into government, inevitably dragging them to the left a little.
No it's because we're not taking in enough taxes to cover spending. Whether you get that funding from taxes or natural resources is another debate. I agree though that the State should take more ownership of our natural resources. We need to find out how much it's going to cost us to run vital services and then raise taxes appropriately to cover that, either through taxation of income or resources.
good video and breakdown, pity sinn féin didnt do better but was still great result! Sinn Féin Abú
