  • Who shoots 30+ shots into a broadhead target at one time he has the right idea of testing though I might give this target a try.

  • Oct 1st you will see a totally new concept in archery targets, it will not only outlast the Block Crossbow ten shots to one, and it will work with broadheads, which will destroy any Block target in short order. Watch for the Video!!!

  • try the "block" crossbow rated target, its orange. I like it better than any.

  • well i also like to say probly over 20,000 with field points only

  • Thanks for the kind words. And your right, especially with mechanical heads being popular. That being said we have a new patented design coming out in a month that will redefine archery targets. It is designed just for archers who shoot target points all year and just want to check their broadheads before season...watch for the video and thank you!

  • looks like you have a great product! but no one shoots that many broadheads. i (and everybody i know) shoot my broadheads to make sure they group well just before the various seasons open, maybe five shots unless there's a problem. still, there's no doubt yours is best. think i'll see how it handles a hundred field points a week!

  • @briargoatkilla

You are absolutely right about most people not shooting that many broadheads. Watch for a new video in about three weeks showing the target designed from the ground up from suggestions and features asked for by archers everyday. I think you will be impressed

  • the block over 20,000 shoots

  • @4914183 that and the block works well with broadheads too...believe that advertising if you want to...I can set my bow on 40 pounds and shoot 40000 shots if you like...but I believe in real world tests..lol.

  • Thank you very much, We try hard. The new HYPER targets are even better.

  • your targets are amazing and i have one and i have shot more than 150 arrows with feild tips through it and they are still a long ways from the nock... awsom target

  • I have been impressed with my King target over the past few years! I don't shoot broadheads all the time but I have put several hundred brosdheads in to this target with no problems. That is shooting 5 spots!

  • yea but the block you have 4 side to shoot,so when one side is wore out, switch sides

  • @Thehoytshooter

The difference with the block is that it costs three to four times more than the King. The cube is a layered target with six sides to shoot that costs last and will out last the block.

  • i like the vid. might have been even better if you could have compared a couple of other targets. im in the market for one and the king has moved up to the top of the list for now

  • Good video and good product but I would stick with the block 4x4 simply because you can shoot at all 4 sides and you can use field tips

  • Thank you for the kind words. We do have a new target that will outlast the block fusion just shooting one side and is good for field tips as well as broadheads.

We have a video up now on it.

    Again Thank you

  • how fast is your bow shooting, i have that same target ( the block) and my step dad tore it up with broad heads, but i have yet have one go to the fletchings

  • The bow I tested that target with was shooting around 290 FPS if I remember correctly.

  • were i can buy one?

  • of course you're tearing them up youre shooting it in the same spot every time what do you expect

  • It is a fair test as each target is shot in approximately the same size area. If you multiply the square inches against the number of arrows shot, it will give you a fair Idea how the target will fair under actual practice conditions.

When I practice I shoot one arrow per dot but the cumulative effect is the same over time.

  • where do u get those targets!

  • ok u barely know anything about shooting broadheads at tarets

first of all u never pull an arrow with a broadhead on it out backwards u pull it all the way thru the target because u will ruin ur broad heads and second the king series suck u went hru 5 of them over the summer and it was only me shooting at them no one else

  • If you have had any problems with a target call us toll free and you will be take care of. It does not ruin a broadhead to pull it out of the target, in fact on the 18 inch thick King Target the broadhead does not protrude out the back of the target.

Our new Hyper (High Performance) targets in 2010 will set a new standard for all foam targets...watch for the video after January

  • no one shoots for a whole afternoon and thars why the block has 4 sides and the king has one

  • Im gonna have to call bullcrap on this one! Notice the "King" brand only has one side to shoot at while the "Block" has numerous sides! Plus the way he was pulling the arrows outta the "Block" was ridiculous, trying to make it look like a 12gauge was shot at it!

  • For one thing, the block costs considerably more than the King series. As far as how the arrows were pulled, the cut up foam hangs up on the broadhead blades making the hole look like a 12 ga. had nothing to do with how they were pulled.

Our Cube has eight sides to shoot instead of six like the block if that is what you want...and it costs less as well.

  • i like this target but i wish i could shoot field tips. and yea make a 3d deer target that holds up like this. thanks for making this .And good hunting.

  • son of a bitch i am definitely sold im gonna get one

  • they should make some 3d deer targets because i wish i had a dollar for every 3d target i tore a gigantic hole through.

  • I'm sold. Now I have to find one, dam it.

  • i have yellow jacket target, and yes it will stop broadheads for a while, but the problem is the dots line up on both sides, i shoot a 65# DXT with a 438 grain arrow with 100gr slick tricks. i don't think i got that many shots before passing through. has anyone shot the target called the blob, its old carpet foam melted down, i hear its the best made, i haven't shot it yet!

  • Awesome video! Keep up the good work!

  • This is why i use broadheads in the range and field in my garage/ backyard.

  • yellow jacket has fixed the problem of the cardboard and pieces of foam. like the kings they went to the multi layered density foam and hold up really well

  • It was less of a fix and more of getting caught with your hand in the cookie jar...they copied us after the video.

  • awsome vid man!!! helped me alot. have u made a broadhead test? if not make 1 plz ud help me out so much

  • I'd like to see King make the dimensions really large, like 3'x3'.

    I'll pay the extra.

  • These targets are the best broadhead targets on the market. After watching this video i went down to a archery shop and bought one. THIS IS THE BEST BROADHEAD TARGET I HAVE EVER SHOT PERIOD! I shoot a Bowtech Tribute at 70lbs 31 inch draw with a 382 grain arrow with muzzy 100 grain 3 blade broadheads. The arrow speed is right around 300 fps. These targets hold up alot longer then any target i have ever shot, and i paid less money for it as well! Thank You American Whitetail keep up the good work

  • This is the best broadhead target I have ever used!

  • I shoot broadheads for months before season. Because I want to know I am practicing with what I will be hunting with.

  • instead of practicing with broadheads have you tried getting same weighted fields? it saves your targets a bit more and the shooting doesnt vary much when you swap heads

  • Over the last 20 plus years I have shot bout everything. I do use matched field points with my broadheads, and they do hit close. I find that if the broadhead is longer than the field point it will change the FOC ( front of center) of the arrow.

This will change the impact point in some set ups.

I enjoy shooting my broadheads plus it gives me confidence when I pull down on a once in a lifetime trophy knowing I have made the same shot dozens of times already.

  • well you dont go shoot your broadheds but 10 times a year to sight in for deer season

  • personally i like the block 4x4 i would rather shoot at vitals than a crown

  • true plus his target has 5 spots to shoot compared to the blocks 10+ spots so you will get more shots out of the block

  • I think you compare the targets you will find that you get many more broadhead shots from the king, and the difference in cost means you can buy two kings to one block the same size.

  • I don't know, but I have this target and my axis arrows don't come out. Seriously, they are so hard to pull that is has torn skin from my hands, not cool. It does stop arrows though.

  • Are you shooting broadheads? With broadheads the arrows should pull fine. If you are shooting field points put a little Scorpions Venom Arrow Lube on them and they will pull fine.

  • Thanks for this review. While you obviously have a bias, I think the testing seemed fair. Its a bit hard to find your products online, I found a Cabelas MDL target that I assume you manufacture? I'm going to give it a try. I bought a blackhole a few years ago from Cabelas, what a disaster! I don't know what they were thinking and am glad to see they don't market it anymore. Thanks for the info.

  • Yes the cabelas MDL is the King target under their name. Thanks

  • that yellow jacket is a good target, your not supposed to shoot at the bottom of the target, and thats why the foam is layed in there like that, not if u were shooting at it the right way i think you woulda had to lay in many many more shots to get thru it. i really like the king series target tho it looks like a nice durable target.

  • what i meant is the rest are JUNK....multi layered is the best.

  • lookes like JUNK.......get a MDL target....sportsmansware house..cabelas ect...30-40$ and well worth it, will last.

  • Nice Target

  • I bought a one of your Broadhead targets from Cabelas today. You are correct on all accounts. The field points are hard to pull and the broadheads stop, shot after shot. I wish I would have seen this video sooner. You have a great product, and I'm glad i've finally found it. Keep up the good work....

  • I got lucky and scored a piece of some kind of foam and between me and my friend we have fired at least 200 shots and not a single pass trough. Best broad head target I've ever had.

  • king target manufactures for gander mtn; that is--if the Silver tab indicating MLD authenticates king targets as stated. I've purchased two from gander mtn. From personal experience it's a great target but inconsistent. AS stated i've purchased two, but both performed differently from one another. Seemingly, the achilles heel on this target maybe the inconsistency of the foam's structual integrity/density. Same setup on both targets.

  • Not knocking you (no pun intended) but it seems to be a flawed "experiment". Your broadheads are constantly getting more dull the more you shoot...obviously. Therefor, those target getting shot at towards the end of the filming are not getting the full effect of a sharp broad head. I could be wrong but maybe you are shooting brand new broadheads every shot for a couple hundred shots?

  • also when he first starts shooting at the yellow target you can see one shot, than another. they are clearly 4", or 5" sticking out of the box, and when he takes the new shot to pull them out they are all the way in.

  • The video had to be edited down in order to fit on youtube. When I made a comment I pulled the arrows, The arrow impacts and the ones I pulled were not the same shots but I indicated how many shots each time when I pulled the arrows. In fact in 2008 The Yellow Jacket started using our MDL label to describe their target and took the box out. Watch for a test soon on the target that they changed due to the word getting out on the Box in the target. Thanks

  • I test targets on a daily basis and the broadhead I used is one I use all the time, it was not a brand new broadhead so it was the same sharpness all the way through or at least about the same. The foam does not dull a broadhead much once it reaches a certain point. Thanks.

  • I shoot carbon impact 6000 erows with muzzy 100 grane brodhead out of Mathews bow weight 60lb with 260 to 270fps, while i was shooting my target at home, which is king target, my erows were stoping anywhere from 4" to 6" away from flatching, whan i was shooting at my budys target"yellow jacket" in a good spot i was an 1" to 2" a way from flatching, and i used same brodheads, cos muzzys for 3 is 20 dollars, anyways trust me if not him thay hold up, but it still depands on ur lb and fps and brodhd

  • That target would probably last me the rest of my life shooting carbons/100gr G5's out of my 50lb recurve haha.

  • Sold me, thanks1

    Joe

  • Thanks! Defiantly vital information!! I hear they modified the Block this year? I wonder how it does now? Thanks again

  • That is really excellent info - thanks!

Can you do a similar test for how much force it takes to pull the arrow out of a new target? I just bought a cheapie solid foam target that I only use for field points but pulling the arrows out takes mroe force than drawing my bow! I used to shoot 200+ arrows in a session but now can't get many more than 125 or so without feeling my right arm from pulling arrows!!

Anyone else have a similar problem w/ solid foamies?

  • I am going to do another test in a few months, The solid foam targets are always going to be difficult with field points if they are dense enough to stop the arrow. Try a bag target for the easiest arrow removal

with target points, however watch for the new video, it may help too.

  • Thanks for taking the time to do this .its very good information . You cant buy better info.

  • why didnt you test the rhinehart 18-1, that there is one sweeeeet target and not only that but you can do field points. Your target looks great to. Nice review, just wish you tried the 18-1 as well :(

  • One issue with the 18-1 is you only have one 'dot' per face. If you like shooting 3 arrows per set, you need 3 dots to avoid shaving your vanes off or cutting a nock/shaft. I hear the 18-1 material is awesome, but I wish they made one with less sides and more target spots per face.

  • This is a good point, but for a guy like me I just want to shoot my broadhead once at each target at each distance for checkin if they are on. Then you are good to go! thats why I shoot a Mathews!! lol

  • The Rinehart target costs much more than the King target so we really don't compete with it. It's really a different type of target

  • ??? I thought we were comparing broadhead targets, if you ask me, they are the same type. That is what they are made for...Broadheads. Besides they are only shooting one arrow at a time, so why not test it???? im not saying the king isnt good, just would like to see how well it did compared to the king. And if that was the same head dont you think it was pretty dull by the time the king was shot?

  • I shoot one arrow at one dot, to avoid cutting up my other arrows. The Broadhead was the same sharpness on all of the targets. Started with a new one on each one.

You have to judge the life of the target against the cost of the target. The King retails for around sixty dollars so when you factor the cost per shot along with the other advantages of the target I think that most hunters will pick it over other targets that are designed just for broadheads.

  • The Rinehart target is also not square.

I dislike that I would only get one 'dot' per face with the Rinehart. I wish Rinehart would make a square target with their supposedly superior technology. I love the Rinehart 3D targets though!

  • Great review. I've been looking for a decent broadhead target. I'll give one a try.

  • The target is available under the Cabelas brand name MDL Broadhead Target.

    Thanks for watching!
