I think Burkes idea of building a tough team seemd good since the ducks won the cup with it. But the ducks had a way better defense. And an unbelievable goalie. Maybe if burke took over new jersy he could try that but it wont work with a team that was 30th in goals against and the penalty kill. And even though Toronto D is a little better Toskala will never be giguerre and Kaberle and Schenn will never be Pronger and nedermeyer.

well we do look better than when JFjr was our GM, but no, as a longtime leafs fan, I don't think this team is playoff bound. Maybe in a year or two (I've been saying that for a few years now), but not now. On the plus side I dont think we're 'Lottery Pick' bad so Boston wont get a 1st overall out of us, but I just can't see us being able to compete with Boston, Montreal, NYR, Washington, Pittsburgh, Carolina, New Jersey or Philadelphia this year.

2001 Playoffs, Leafs vs. Sens, Game 1, Sundin scores the game winner in overtime, and leafs win 1 - 0.

You know which one I'm talking about, that crazy slapshot from the blue line that went in off the post.

Favourite sundin moment is his 500th Goal. Overtime winner, shorthanded and a Hatrick!! And against Kiprusoff! And after a really bad call against us (darcy tucker, I believe). NEED I SAY MORE!! That was the best!!  I also really loved his come back and the standing ovation he got and his Shootout winner against us. Yeah it was against us but i was happy for him. Thanks Mats!

Well Steve, I'm not a Leaf fan as I root for the Rangers here in NY and go to games. But I always loved Sundin. I'll always remember him as one of the classiest players who was so consistent. And of course, backhand top shelf on the breakaway. Nobody did it better.

Steve...This will be my first year listening to your reviews at the end of the games, Ive heard good things :)

I am excited about the Leafs..but I really believe that Stemps and Blake shouldn't have made the team, and Bozak and "Cool Lemon" should have...We need a youth movement..I am fine with Orr (Grit) and Wallin/Primeau (PK) because we need them, but what is Stemps going to do that we don't know already? and Blake, likely won't have a similar year like last...Time will tell I guess :)
