  • I love their natural higher steps!

  • Real horsemanship! So good to see.

  • Lovely to see these horses paces naturally as they should be really is beautiful, no pads or deformed tails...well done.

  • nice breed!

  • This is what I really want to do with my 11 year old TWH. He was breed for saddle seat and i don't want to put on chains/heavy boots on and then screw up his tail. This is so much nicer! So if I do enter in one of these classes I don't have to feel bad. :)

  • @XxBleachgurlxX Chains don't necessarily hurt a horse, or at least thats not what they're designed to do. They're used for a couple of reasons: 1 put them on and when you take them off the horse (being used to the weight) will lift their legs higher. 2 The gate is actually an irregularity of a trot or walk. If a walker is too pacey (both feet move on the same side at once) you can weight one foot to make it "off" in timing.

  • I have a 3 year old TWH stud and Ican't get him to canter

  • @MrLaterider Did you just purchase him? Some trainers will train their walkers not to canter. Go to an trainer to help you.

  • @MrLaterider Do you have another horse you can ride him with, I got my first young walker to canter by riding him with another horse, and asking that other horse to canter/slow gallop. we did this a few times, but once he understood what I wanted it was easy to continue on without the escort.

  • Thank you so much for being fair to your horses!

  • Beautiful horses, and (as many people have already said) lovely to see them showing naturally and really able to show off their paces. And they look so happy in their work too!

  • This is the only video on Youtube that I've found of a Tennessee Walker Show where none of the horses are sored. Beautiful. Bravo.

  • Nice to see natural gaits!!!

  • agreed with others i LOVE the natural gaits with out those big ole pads on

  • I love the look of the natural hoof. They look so much happier and not that worry look.

  • thanks for showing the natural walkers,I was so upset watching the other ones,I love horses and just cant understand how making them walk that way is not some how un-natural

  • Oh my gosh, these guys look so much better then the " Big Lick " horses! So relaxed, free, gentle strides, this is the TRUE TWH!

  • This is what it should be about. The natural ability of the tennessee walking horse.

  • it's nice to see properly taken care of twh.

  • I'm so glad there are people that haven't given in to the disgusting act of soring, just to get an unnatural gait. These horses have a great reason to walk so proudly!

  • It's great to see some natural Walkers!

  • i no there beutiful if natural is there

  • so nice to see a natural horse. the last vid i watched was horses landing on their heals. dead giveaway that its not natural.

  • Thanks for sharing, just used it to explain to someone that a TWH can be ridden in a friendly way without all the stuff

  • Stunning horses. :) I love seeing naturally gaited Walkers. It's a breath of fresh air after seeing so many of them having their gaits ruined with pads and chains. Big lick horses can't compete with natural Walkers.

  • omg that is SOOOO TRUE!! these horses' gaits are sooo much prettier than those high stepping gaits!

  • I LOVE the Virginia Horse Center! I go there all the time!

  • lovley to see these horses doing there gait naturally......very relaxing i bet.

  • Very nice when allowed to be natural, it is a shame what some cruel TW owners will do for money and a 10cent ribbon however.

  • i love it..im getin a tenn walker tomorrow yay it will be my 1st horse

  • Yeah finally. That is the way how I like to see the tenessee walking horse. Natural without cruelty of those high boots.

    Beautifull!!

  • Agree! Finally:)

  • yeah you're so right!

  • The big lick horses just can't compete with these naturally gaited horses! Way to go and we will see you all in the spring, in the ring! Woohoo!

  • Most horses have very light shoes on. :) I know most of these people and I've shown in this show!!! <3 COOLNESS!

  • Beauriful horses are they barefoot or padded

  • The class that is at the beginning Im in this i am the girl with the red coat and red hair!! I'm like the sixth or seventh from the right!!!

  • The first piebald was really beautiful, what amazing unique markings it has and lovely to see these horses not ridden as if in some sort of freak circus.

But what is this "English trail pleasure racking?" It certainly has nothing to do with England. I find it somewhat disturbing that they can ride so far back from the centre of gravity on the weakest part of the back. We in England absolutely don't do that at all.

  • it's to do with the fact that they have on "english" tack ie: a cutback saddle rather than a western saddle

  • Beautiful vid. I will never in a million years understand how you can have a competition to display the perfection of a completely artificial gait, as so displayed by the shocking contrast in these natural shod horses. Thanks for posting and showing not all TWH show horse owners are touched in the head.

  • Beautiful. These horses were made to cover ground in a rapid, but smooth way. NOT with weights and chains.

  • Much nicer to see. More natural. Horses not down on their backsides and unbalanced. Look at twalker510 vid of her Palomino TWH. A very nice example :-)

  • wow this looks WAYYYYYY more natural than the video dreams come true....they arent lifting up there feet 20 ft in the air but some of them could pick up there feet a lil bit higher since they were being shown under saddleseat

  • agreed

  • this is exactly wut i want to see!! way more natural. i mean seriusly have u seen the others who pick up thier feet 15 ft off the ground thats just wrong and NOT natural!!

  • Rider like these make me proud to ride a natural gaited horse!! Good Job and GREAT showing!

  • beautiful horses in their natural gait its absolutely beautiful to watch

  • see, this is just so beautiful to see horses gaiting natuarlly this is how i ride our walkers! soring is cruel, unusual, and ugly in my opinion.

  • Yes!! Some tennessee walkers that don't look all weird and in pain! Natural and beautiful! This is how thise type of horse should be ridden!!

  • im sososo wit u on that my horse racks like that WITHOUT boots! it is just cruel!!

  • honestly, does it look like any of them have boots on? NO so dont be saying stuff that aint true!

  • No fancy shoes, just natural movement. Awesome! This looks a lot better than walking horses that perform the big lick. That just looks dumb. I have a Arab/Saddlebred I want to show saddle seat as country english pleasure and he is going to be barefoot.

  • Thats the way to go! That way of moving looks so flowing and natural and nice

  • Thats the way it should be. No bullshit to make them pick up their feet more. Just natural movement.

  • Now THAT is pretty! Way better than the artificially, abusively enhanced gaits!

  • im in this video!!!! im the girl on the bay mare wearing the tan jacket!!!

  • I agree.

  • now thats better THATS NATURAL!!!

  • This is beautiful! I've seen some videos here that made me cringe, check out "A Dream Come True", it is horrible and painful to watch!

What a title! I'm sure it was not the abused horse's dream that came true...

  • I just want to know whats so bad about drems come true (just wondering)

  • Densest reply ever... because you like the title, you like the video? Too sad you people are allowed around horses - that's why there are so many problem horses - and i'm not just talking about walkers.

  • gabriela58blue : i saw that video and belive it or not that was GOOD compared to the other padded horses. because THAT HORSE wasnt abused or sored.

  • Great video ! That is the way I like to see them....natural !

  • Finally! Natural gaits... so much more beautiful.

  • I love the Virginia Horse Center! ^_^ Awesome facility!

Gaited Horses are fascinating movers! =D

  • i love TWH's they are amazing animals. flatshod is my fave too, but i really just don't think padded horses are abused. sorry, there was an eleven year study, and they found no evidence of pads and chains hurting the horse.

  • beautiful.. this is what a gaited horse should look like... none of that inhuman shit. thank you

  • OMG!!!! That little girl was ADORABLE!!! :D

That's got to be one of the cutest things I've seen, and the big horse was just responding to her so nicely. I hpoe she had a great day. :D

(And the rest of the vid is amazing as well... you deserve an award for treating your horses so well... and you can also do that and kick butt!)

  • Bravo to flat shoes and natural tails!! No abuse.

  • anyway, sorry typo.

  • No animal abuse in anway. I soooo Loved this TWH show! Thank you!

  • I own plantation walkers also but lets please remember that the BIG plantation shoes weigh more than a set up. Be kind to your horses. These gorgeous animals can gait beautifully on keg shoes. It's not all about the ribbons....

  • The Horse Center is beautiful and the concrete arena is a wonderful place to be. I was up there for the Virginia State Horse Show on a pait gaited pony, I won to =]and he was gaited!

  • What a beautiful video of talented animals moving as they were MEANT to do!

Thank you for sharing this with us...a good point of comparison!!!!!!!!!!!!

May "big lick" die a QUICK and ugly death.

  • AMEN!!!

  • Down with the big lick! Kudos to you!

  • could someone enlighten me on the platform shoes and cut/set tails that I see in the other twh videos? What are they supposed to be doing? Getting judged on the trainers' shrewdness in applying artifice? These horses don't need it, they're uniquely talented enough without the "hotrod" mentallity...

  • Absolutely beautiful - what they should look like - natural! Bravo!

  • I just bought a 2yo tennessee walking filly, I would never show her in pads, I belive the natural gait looks a lot better anyway!

  • best walking horse video i have watched on youtube!!! beautiful NATURAL movement! Biglick should take a look and see how to really ride a TWH.

  • yay! no cruelty :D thumbs up 2 all you nice ppl.

  • whoohoo!! a video that shows natural movement

  • i agree 100% with blackdogz79.

    all the biglickers...you suck.

get a hint from these horses

    right here.

  • Congrats on posting a video of what Tennessee Walkers are SUPPOSED to move like, as opposed to the 'big lick' freakishness. These horses look like a delight to ride, and seem to enjoy their job.

  • kewl

  • Very nice representation of flat-shod walkers.

  • Horses look their best when they get to move naturally. Comparing these horses to the padded ones reveals a huge difference in not just the gait but also in the horses' expression. All videos of padded horses I see feature animals that move unnaturally and look uncomfortable, here I saw horses looking balanced and moving correctly. Good leg action comes with good breeding, not artificial aids!

    Great video! Thumbs up!

  • I agree. Just recently I read an article about gaited horses and soring. Some people in the gaited shows use alot of pain to get the horses to have more action. Its not right. I love the natural way these horses go, and riding them is so much fun.

  • very nice to natural gait

  • Thank you for posting this video. Many folks seem to think "gimmicks" are the only means to a gait....some of us know better, so it's great to see it demonstrated here!

  • Great video! I love seeing the light shod walkers! they actually have REAL talent! I ride my walker in just regular shoes (I dont show though) and he gets a gorgeous running walk when he gets going! not quite the knee action of these guys but they probably have plantation shoes. We need more horses like in this video to restore the good name of this amazing breed!

  • Lovely! So nice to see TWH doing their natural gaits. :)

  • These look beautifull. All TWH horses should be so lucky.

  • i think TWH look fantastic without the horrid shoes etc etc they look really fun and comfortable to ride. Much nicer to watch too!

  • Thank You for showing some nicely and naturally gaited horses in this video.

  • I love seeing little kids riding some big ol' gentle giants.

  • Wow, a TWH show that actually doesn't strap chains around the horse's hooves, and pour acid on their corinary bands, and give them huge shoes just to make them lift their feet. Wow, what do you know? Saddleseat sounds pretty cruel to me!

  • I know this is old but....saddleseat has nothing to do with performance horses specifically. Saddleseat can be TWH, ASB, Arabian, Morgan. Not to go in detail but it deals with riding English in a cutback saddle and dressing in attire that can consist of daycoat, jods, vest etc. Don't hate the art just the people that do it the wrong way to win......

  • yes, I show Tennessee Walking Horses and I agree with you completely... it is a wonderful style of riding, but sometimes, people do stupid things just to win

  • I like seeing the lite shod TWH in the ring for a change and they are looking great. I also really like to see the kids involved.

  • What beautiful horses! I own 5 Walkers and they are all Plantation like these. Nice to see shows where they don't sore the horses! Great video
