When freddie says:"what is left of your dream, just the words on your stone,a man who learned how to teach, then forgot how to learn OOOOOOOOOOH YEEEAH!!
Great performance! I also watched the video of this song, Live in ?Earl's Court, (probably in England), and in both videos, at the end, the last lyrics, were most unfortunately, edited or censored out. Why? "What is left of your dream, Just the words on your stone. A man who learned how to teach, Then forgot how to learn. Oh yeah."
This is the heaviest track from the A Day at the Races album and on this video receives the royal live treatment - loud as hell, Queen super tight and Freddie voice is powerful... what a great find!
One of my VERY favorite Queen songs. Roger does a great job with such powerful drumming. He's truly an underrated drummer with an incredibly unique style, and great sounding set. Big and open like a million tuned timbales! The whole tune carries such a biting edge to it. I saw 'em in '78 @ the Long Beach arena! (I wuz so wasted)I passed around 1 joint, 10 came back! But I remember this tune! SLAMMIN"!
Gahhh! Will someone please tell me where they played in Houston? I live there and I'd like to know where this was so I can make a pilgrimage! ^_^ Yeah... I'm nuts.
I think this song is AWESOME! I haven't listened to it all the way through yet but I know that the studio version has a REALLY true message at the end of it...
Coincidence or not, in 1978 Judas Priest recorded a song in the same vein, with the same theme. It's called "Savage", from their superb album "Stained Class". Judas Priest owes Queen a LOT.
Queen has Heavy metal roots. Especially with songs like this and from their first 3 albums. You might as well call them a heavymetal/hardrock/pop rock/arena rock/glam rock band they have played it all.
