Thank you, try to play just the feet ostinato to get used to it. After a while add some quarter notes on the snare drum while playing the ostinato, in 3/4 time. Then alternate 8th notes, 16th notes... when you notice you'll be soloing with a 3/4 ostinato.

All drummers should learn the Peart version of the Waltz, not to mention the original. It adds so much diversity to solos.

Thanks! It is double stroke rolls, grouped as a Thirteen Stroke Roll.
The stick on stick thing is a Nine Stroke Roll in 3/4 time, with 2 beats for every stick hit.
