@spidermonkey897 actually no u need the perfect amount of air and water ratio. too much water and you dont get enough air pressure to make the water shoot out and propell the rocket.

mine i made is like 1.4m long and 4 1.25liter on the side as boosters :)

Mistake: Our 3 stage rockets would fire for over 50 seconds!! 1st stage was a light mixture and fired for 5-10 seconds but would be VERY powerfull. The 2nd stage was a very heavy mix but fired for 20-30 seconds and the third stage was also a very light mixture (but at this point the rocket was 3-5 lbs lighter) and fired very quickly but would push the rocket for 500 feet for about 10 seconds. The bottles were housed in a very light aerodynamic cylinder/rocket housing. Ive seen nothing on u-tube

While in the Military me and 3 very inventive guys made 1, 2, and 3 stage 2 liter bottle rockets. With a air comp' launch system. Our three stage rockets fires for over 20 seconds and fly as high as the planes that were landing on our base! No kidding! They had very small exhaust ports that fired a foam mixture. We used light plastic cylinders with a fin system with a lightweight nose cone. The main ingredient (fuel) was 1 1/2 liter of H2O and 1 cup of dish soap. Firing up to 30 and 40 seconds!

the first stage would fire quickly but making the 6 foot tall rocket fly up sloooowly. Then the second stage would fire about 10 seconds and then the 3rd stage would push the, now very light, rocket about 500 feet on its own for about 5-10 nore seconds. We used 10 types of propellent: water and some sort of soap and then we would experiment with different fuel for the 2nd and 3rd stages.....really cool and tons of FUN. I wanna see some better rockets and better designs from you people!!

How did you keep the valve stem from coming out when it belw up at 90psi? If you put 2 inches of water in a 2 liter soda bottle and add dry ice it will also blow up and you won't have to be near it when it goes!

Don't do that! The rocket grazed my face and it felt like someone took sand paper to it! Remember the bottle holds 400 pounds of pressure before it cuts lose!
