Today, the Orlando area had a nearly identical story on WFTV. The victims purchased used cars from Bill Heard Chevrolet. Apparently the dealership failed to pay the loan "payoffs" on the trade-ins, and then turned around and sold those vehicles as used. The old loans were never cleared. The new owners can't register the cars since there are liens against them until the bankruptcy hearings are resolved. The customers can't drive their cars but they are still making new payments.
