Juan Cole is a joke, an academic hack who hasn't published an original thought in his 25 years in academia. He's basically an apologist for Islamic terrorism. The only reason Muslims like Juan Cole is because he's nothing but an apologist who constantly defends them, even when they do something wrong. He has no sense of balance. His prominence is a testament to how sad American academia has become. Instead of intelligent, critical thought, we get a guy who can't write, can't think clearly, and can only pen propoganda. A muslim man may have more then 1 spouse because he is asked to take care of widows and unmarried older woman. Not for lust or beauty and he has to take care for all max 4 equally.

Thank you. If I go to Egypt I would not think of violating dress codes there nor would I complain to the Muezzin because he is loud. Muslims living in the US know the different rules here, but a lot of them do complain. Muslims are not all comfortable with American ways. Nor are Western travelers comfortable in a Muslim city with the loudspeaker calls to prayer rudely obliterating the sounds of quiet conversations. We have learn to adapt considerately, politely and peacefully both ways.

suppose a woman happens to be one of the unmarried women in USA. The only two options remaining for her are that she either marries a man who already has a wife or becomes public property. There is no other option.said they would prefer their sisters to remain virgins. Biologically, it is not possible for an average man or a woman to remain celibate throughout life. Polygamy is a crime. Since polygamy is endorsed in Islam, it is therefore Islamic. Since it is illegal, it is an Islamic crime when practiced by Muslim believers who are doing it because it is allowed in their faith. Polygamy is also a Mormon crime, but this video is not about the Mormon faith.

You can have Islamic crime. Polygamy is an Islamic crime. Islam is a political ideology for many believers, the ones who believe the principles of government used in the prophet's time were intended as examples for all time. Islam is NOT compatible with democracy for many Muslims. This belief is explicitly denounced by many influential Iranian clerics. Egypt's detention of its own citizens was a political act for its own security. It was not a "Muslim" response to Islamic radicals.
