First of all, is that video of you playing? If so why the hell are you playing blind pick, why are you duo laning top, and with lane fiddlesticks no less, and most importantly, why didn't you score an easy double kill on GP and Shaco with Darkwind.

Also on the actual subject of the video, what in the world makes you think anything on your channel represents the entire LoL community (millions of players the vast majority of which understand this game much better than you do)?

Now the IP you gain is based on the duration of the game, according to the wiki. But I have not made yet the calculations to determine the optimum length in case you know your team is going to lose.

The score is meaningless. A surrender is a guaranteed loss. Its entirely possible to get a late game ace when losing and still win.

i whould understand it a bit at some points if the enemies is fed in ranked...but when it apears in a nrmal game, any type of surrender is just a waste...since the game doesnt really effect your elo or anything, why make a such darn big deal out of it?

I think it always depends on how your Team plays so if someone feeds really hard then i think it does not make any sense to play on except one of your team is also fed. I always try to play as long as possible and as long as it makes sense but when you have already an inhibitor down at 20 mins than i would give up! but i mostly like to play a game to the end :)

I don't like surrendering at any point let alone 20 minutes, I like to fight till the end as you never know when a turn around might happen. One game we lost all the outside towers and the middle inhibitor, while the other team only lost the first tower in each lane. But we kept on going and won the game. even with most people at +20 deaths

its really answer depending on how bad the score and the situation is. If the score is like 5-20 and you lost most of your tower then surrender at 20 is the right choice, but if you still have your tower and the score aint that bad or the enemy teamwork is awful then there might be a chance you can flip the situation. I have been to a ranked game where the score is 7-22, we were losing, but as we advance and continue to farm, we were able to hold on and fight back and win.

you can usually tell by the 20 minute mark if you're going to lose or not, prolonging a losing game needlessly is doing your team a disservice because you're wasting their time, and you're possibly doing the enemy team a disservice by wasting their time (if they're serious players at a high skill level, they WON'T want to play a game they know they're going to win, it's the scrub noobs that lose most of their games that want to make their one win for the day last longer)

@rabidGopher another thing: you could possible be doing the enemy team a disservice by prolonging the game because it's possible the newer players could be developing bad habits by playing a game where they have a big advantage and don't have to play "properly" (things like map awareness, last hitting, when to push and when not to, etc. go out the window when you know you're going to win) and the respawning inhibitors can make the game drag on for another 40 minutes

i hate people that surrender at 20 because i know the situation to be in the winning team. if i am in the winning team having fun and i see that my opponents surrender at 20 im normally pretty pissed. the only reason for me to do so is, if my opponents are either douchebags or play completely overpowered champions. if one of my mates fed a tryn or akali for example, the game will just stop to be fun, fighting a champ that wins in 1v5 sucks, so i just surrender in that case^^

So I was playing TF and midding against a Leblanc and because of her op ulti,I fed.I think I had 1-15-something.I decided to troll and get 2 Phantom Dancers first before getting Infinity Edge and kept farming.Our team was feeding and everyone was surrendering.But me and someone else was NO.We kept killing the 20 stacks MS Leblanc till she had 3 left.We proceeded to win the game.

Moral of the story is:Never give up unless it is 0-35.But that's impossible,nearly.

Surrender at 20?.. Well, I kinda agree with the rest of you guys, unless it's a sure loss, dont surrender.. You can easily turn it around, if you got some good late chars..

I just played a game and our mid fed. We said surrender at 20 but 2 people didn't. We ended up at 57 minutes pushing into their top and bottom inhibitors and then2 of us Dc'ing for 2 minutes and lossing... so stupid of a loss.

Also, you get more IP for longer games since a long time ago- not only that but surrenders transfer additional IP from your team to your enemies. That was like January or something.

I would like it to be lowered additionally from 20. I've had such shit games that I know there's no recovery and I've got to wait 7 minutes. eg; a leaver and a horrible start

I've had enough matches where the tables turned just as the surrender vote was denied.

I've had enough where things would've been turned if my team kept their heads instead of surrendering every chance they got.

and I've had enough where even I felt it was hopeless to keep it up.

But, surrendering @ 20 is stupid, since most of the time, the result aren't set in stone. From all my experiences, 20 is too early to decide anything, unless it's a major, noticeable difference.

IMO: if at 20 minutes, the enemy has 2.5 amount of kills, and 1 more towers than us(or there is a leaver and we can't win without them), its worth surrendering. only cuz i surrender when i know nobody is gonna have fun and its not worth playing. Basically, i only surrender if the game isnt worth playing.

The most interesting challenge is in strategically turning the tides of a game. As long as there seems to be an oppurtunity to win, I usually won't opt for surrender. Of course, such oppurtunities do not present themselves so commonly.

For instance, perhaps the enemies are messy when it comes to team-fights. Perhaps the enemies rely on 1 particular strategy or character to win. Perhaps Some armor of X or Y will change the tides of battle.

As long as possbility exists, no surrendering for me

I believe that surrendering at 20 is not a good idea except if you die in every single team-fight and they all have 5extra kills. I have seen many changes of odds after the non-fed champions reach 18.Ι have seen hopeless games ending up at ace and winning instead of losing.You can have the possibility to win, but you have to select if you are maybe doing a waste of time for an unlikely win or just lose immidietally and try your luck at another game Reversals exist.

Depends if you play to win. People who want to win for IP and what not will surrender at 20 if their game is going downhill. People like me who like to play for fun wouldn't give up easily EXCEPT if it is a ridiculous game like an ally with a score of 0/8/0 and is really, really ruining your day. BUT IN ANY SITUATIONS: Never, ever spam a surrender attitude when you're pissed or you're meeting noobs. Anyone can make mistakes.

At the 20 minute mark you can determine more often than not, whether your team is going to win or lose the game. What it boils down to, is do you want to surrender at 20, and play another game, or play a 60+ minute game and still lose. You are still getting the same IP amount for a 20 minute surrender as a 60 minute loss. If one person goes 0-10 in the first 20 minutes, its pretty much GG. I would much rather cut my losses, surrender and move on to hopefully a better game and a win.

@gbforlorn Actually the way they do IP is the longer the game goes, the more ip and xp you get. If you surrender at 20 you will get around 30 IP less than if you fought it out till 60. Still if your going to lose you should just surrender and play another game where you can win and get more in the same amount of time as holding out as long as you can.

Much like everything in this game, it is situational, yes i know its a generic answer, but it's situational. Now if you're already back defending your inhibitors at 20 minutes, its probably a safe call to surrender. But if you're only down 3-4 towers and 7-8 kills, the game is not neccessarily over. One teamfight or one baron can turn the game around. Now it also does depend on the team comp, but the most important part is your team's attitude. If you don't try to win, you won't.

i think it depends on the situation. if you have a bad team for lategame and you lose the early game really hard it doesn't make sense to me to play anymore and waste my time. the only chance is to hope for a disconnect or that the enemy team starts playing rly bad... but if you see a chance of winning i would always continue playing(especially in ranked games)

I don't agree with 20minute surrendering, people might surrender because the opposing team are fed but wasn't that the teams fault? You feed then want to quit because there is a slim chance of winning? If you think yes, look at it from another perspective when you are on the fed team, whether you we're intentionally fed or just worked hard and played well and you are demolishing the enemy team when they surrender and the games over do you really want to say "gg" or do you feel cheated & annoyed?

Well I think the most of the time some1 want to surrender because it's going bad for themselves and thinks that the 4 or 2 other people can't do anything either because it's going bad for the person who wants to surrender.

I would say never surrender, play the game and have fun. I've had a lot of fun especialy if we are losing the game but still having fun. I can understand that it is frustrating to be killed all the time but make it a better situation by just helping as much as possible.

very often a team might be struggeling going into mid and lategame, especially at low lvls people dont understand late game mechanics. sticking together placing wards letting tanks initiate and getting or baiting baron and dealing with backdooring. but i often notice that a team of ppl who dont know each other can learn this in-game. often even winning the match even if it's 30-50 on kills. That's why i might refuse to surrender even of the others want to run away instead of learning.

I personally can have a bad killing and deaths record but if the team is really doing well i still have fun, sometimes it happened to me that i dont get many kills but i get a lot of assists and lots of deaths but if its a good game i like to finish it regardless winning or loosing but if its a sure lose like for examle the avg. lvl of my team is 8 and the enemy team avg. is above 13 i dont like to keep it on because theyre too feeded....i dont know if i made myself clear :P

For me it depends on how the team is playing. If we constantly lose team fights, lose multiple turrets, getting wrecked because someone fed the enemies, I will surrender whenever I just cant take it. The thing is, with an organized team surrendering at 20 is pointless. With good coordination u can defend your base and not push out and get your build. If you coordinate well u can get your build and make a ginormous comeback.(speaking from experience)

The first twenty minutes does not predict the outcome of the game. It simply makes it more likely for one side to win over the other, but its still very possible. how many times have sum1 begged to surrender over and over and yet we end up winning the game at the end. play smart and you will get opportunities to come back in the game

I prefer not to surrender most of the time because it makes the game more fun and intense when you're playing to win, but sometimes games are so one-sided that it becomes obvious who will win, and the next 10-15 minutes are pointless. At that point the game just isn't as fun. I don't like getting stomped on, and I don't particularly enjoy destroying the other team when they can't even fight back. It's important to believe in yourself, but also recognize when it's a lost cause and just surrender.

Personally I almost never surrender, I'm one of those die hard people that don't believe it's over until the fat lady sings. The only exception of me ever surrendering is when my team just sucks so hard, has gone afk, or are trolling. The only other time that has anything to with score would be like 10 kills us, 30 kills them etc...

When Peopole Surrender I really think that it depends on how the game went. Team Comps matter, Team Styles matter (Does your teamfight alot or split push), how well laning phase was and a bunch of other factors too. The main determining factor when I want to surrender is, COMMUNICATION. If everyone is talking and thinking of how to salvage the game, I wouldn't surrender. But if we all havent talked throughout the entire game and we all start raging once we start losing. I would surrender.

I would say. I don't mind it if you surrender at 20 minutes if we are all failing. But if some of us are doing well, or having more fun and the other people just keep complaining, then I don't wanna surrender. It really depends on how the game is going. I think its dumb when only 1 person on the other team is having fun and the rest are hating and annoyed, and then they surrender and the other person wanted to play longer.
