  • So stuck up you can see my heads from 9 blocks!! Is there a 45 of this?

  • This is not Hockey.

  • I stumbled across this because it's the sample for Apathy, C-Rayz Walz, Celph Titled and Rise's "The Smackdown," then I tripped, fell and broke a leg when I heard the part that "Liquid Swords" sampled. Sick!!!

  • Cause niggas styles are old like Mark 5 sneakers, Lyrics are weak like clock-radio speakers

  • Like an intro to a Blaxploitation flick. Willie Mitchell, may he rest in funk.

  • wasn't that base line used in "Hey Joe"?

  • Comment removed

  • @Egondv right at the first few second. almost the same line

  • LIQUID SWORDS!

  • Clan in the front let your feet stomp!

  • when the MC's caaaaaame

  • @alexohso1337 to live out their name

  • wu-tanngggg!

  • jimi hendrix monterrey at 1:57!!!!

  • until 0:05 it's jimi hendrix's hey joe! who made the original?????

  • Apparently this is sampled in 4th chamber aswell but i can't place it anywhere!

  • @ufuckfacesonofabitch

its only a really short sample from 0:15 to 0:17... rza looped the drums and bass line

  • gza uses a lot of soul in his songs. just like feel the pain, really soulful.

  • gza....mega diggin!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why does everybody only associate this song with the Wu this song has been sampled a million times over. Example check this track Apathy - Smackdown feat. Rise, C Rayz Walz & Celph Titled. It's the main beat.

  • @blaquenoise because the wu shit was a classic without wu there would be no c rayz walz

  • @blaquenoise Because they made it into something ballin'

  • Pharrell!!!!!!

  • R.I.P. Willie Mitchell

  • GZA killed this track

  • 0:06 this groove is so unique, so creepy and hypnotizing. I always thought it composed by RZA specifically for the Liquid Swords album: it perfectly embodies the tone and atmosphere of the album! And it really doesn't sound like ANYTHING else from 1969!! It's incredible that Mitchell had just added it into a song that has an otherwise very different groove. Mitchell was really ahead of his time.

  • "Child educator plus head amputator"

    RZA flips this something crazy!!

  • groovin...damn, the only real way to describe this beat.

    rock on.

  • classic!!!!

  • Dats da BOMB track! I play dis dover an dover! Wish when I play with my organ it felt dis goood!

  • Love that rock-steady groove !

  • r.i.p my man

  • Willie Mitchell le plus grand producteur de la soul music , il nous manquera.

  • R.I.P Willie Mittchell (1928 - 2010)

  • very nice

  • R.I.P.

  • R.I.P

  • RIP

  • RIP Willie

  • Willie Mitchell passed away this morning

in Memphis. R.I.P. Willie and thanks for the great music.

  • R.I.P.

  • 0.08-0.14 is the most obvious soundbite for sampling

  • Cool cover of a white boy song.

  • The snare in this song is the same one as the snare in 4th chamber, for sure! This song is awesome, thanks for sharing this!

    Groovin' ! Keihard !

  • rza is one of my all time favorite producers of all-time. not that good lyrically, but damn hes a god behind making music

  • RZA is a god both on the mic and behind making music, there's no doubt about that!

  • RZA samples like 2 other things for liquid swords too

  • its crazy to see how many comments are linked to RZA !

i did too find this song through wu tang samples

  • The beginning reminds me of "hey joe" by hendrix

  • in liquid swords

GZA is talkin over some nice rock song, just before the actual song starts.

if anybody can find the name of the sample,il respect him for ever

  • it is mercy, mercy, mercy by willie mitchell. in the beginning It's Rza not Gza

  • yea i found it out in wikipedia some days ago, thanks anyways.but that song is SO RARE its not even funny.ive been looking for it everywhere

  • @obilinx Maybe I'm deaf, but i listened to Mercy, Mercy, Mercy by Willie Mitchell on youtube, and I couldn't hear that like 10 second instrumental bit that's in liquid swords. I thought maybe the whole version wasnt on youtube, so i bought if off itunes... I still cant here that bit??? maybe were talking about different things. but its like that mad soulful but that has like playground noise in the backround.

im fuckin desperate to find it

  • its also in the smackdown by apathy, celph titled etc!

  • No photos of original artist?

  • liquid swords

but this is a great song its in self too

  • This music is soooothin :)

  • rza mainly samples drums. the 4th chamber sample is at 0:16 - 0:17 drum after the 4 guitar notes.

  • Wu tang. WU TANG

    When the Mcs came

    To live out the name

  • @twiztidlestat When the MCs came to live out they name

and...to perform, some had...to snort cocaine to act

before he rock'd it on...now born was the mental flame

which would spark the brain for the building to be born

    Yo RZA where's tha track...???

  • I can't listen to this without thinking of Liquid Swords

  • When tha MC's came to live out tha name... and to perform!...

  • @punk2116

    hehe same :P

  • is this the same guy that does Soul Serenade? just hearing Willie Mitchell on allmemphismusic but my guy sounds well theres not this huge beat?

  • o hell dis wutang!!

  • WUUUU TAAAAAAANG!!!

  • NICE

  • Jazmine Sullivan sampled the beginning for "My Foolish Heart" which is my jam

  • it's sped up on the 4th chamber so the tone different

  • LOL. I thought this would be something about Canucks Willie Mitchell, but this is pretty good actually! xD

  • I dont hear ANYTHING in this song that reminds me of "4th Chamber". All , I hear is "Liquid Swords"

  • Song title is very fitting.

And RZA used this song for "Assassination Day" & "4th Chamber" too.

  • what part did he use for assassination day and 4th chamber?

  • I have no idea. I just know he sampled it.

I might be wrong about "Assassination Day".

  • 4th chamber 0:16 - 0:17

  • i didnt hear the 4th chamber sample at that time frame.

  • Because you don't know what Rza used. It the drums that he sampled. Don't you hear the echoes* of the guitar note before the sampled place at the drums of 4th Chamber?

  • Oh shit you have some great ears. i would of never picked that up. i just noticed it right now. you mean that little drum break with the base on the snare right? thats kool man thanks. i always loved the drum to 4th chamber but never knew it was a sample.

  • Yes that's what i meant.

  • it's just liquid swords dude

  • haha you're probably right.

  • Right, 00:08-00:15 is all Liquid Swords (great beat btw.)

  • Assassination Day, really??? of shit. What part of this song did he use??

  • Comment removed

  • "On a mission that niggas say impossible, but when squeeze my sword, they all choppable". GZA, you crazy sick ma nigga!

  • "On a mission that niggas say is impossible, but when i swing my swords the all choppable,"****

  • Sick, thanks for the post Crates.

I'm with tenswone, real heads aren't still concerned with the sampling debate shit. Do yourselves a favour and listen to Premo's rant about sampling on Moment of Truth.

  • liquid swords always was an interesting beat to me, thanks for posting this.

  • what the fuck is this 1995? People are still having the sampling debate? Jesus! To all the heads: turn the other way. Hip hop is yours, own that shit. To all the sampling critics: you don't get it, you aren't gonna change anybody's mind who loves hip hop. Get over it.

  • Haha! GZA sampled this for "Liquid Swords"!!

    AWESOME!!!

  • RZA looped it for the track 4th Chamber, get some knowledge

  • Which part did RZA loop for "4th Chamber?"

  • I think he might have just used some of the drum loops not quite sure though

  • Thanks god

  • Hahahahah Nahhh its Liquid Swords, Dont speak on shit you dont know.

  • I'll take u 2 school when it comes to hip hop. On that note it was also used in 4th chamber as I said....faggot

  • Dont call me a faggot you little internet shit disturber... Im sure it makes you think your tough but please save your comments for the rare occassion that we meet face to face.

  • hes actually right though

that note is used for 4th chamber

  • Comment removed

  • are you talking about the drum note i mentioned or there's another part which rza used?

  • and liquid swords my bad, it was still only looped though cause the samples werent re arrendged, RZA still produced it anyways

  • I think you know what he meant. The hell does it matter anyways?

    "Get some knowledge" lol

    Ok, relax there son....

  • totally.

  • i can't believe that this dude had the nerve to talk shit about rza "completely ripping this song". don't anybody say shit that stupid again. it's almost the same scenario with "c.r.e.a.m" but give me a break. you obvs don't know your hip-hop, it started with people backspinning records with no programming or fucking Pro Tools. just straight up record destruction. eat a dick

  • Cause when I grab my swords I be unchoppable...

Peace to all Willie Mitchell/Wu Tang fans.

  • liquid swords is fire

  • he looped it but whatever because GZA spit so much flame over that song he destroyed the beat one of the best songs ever recorded , thank god for willie mitchell coming up with this

  • Everyone should kill that noise about RZA ripping this song off. He found a hot beat and looped it, no problems there. The one artist that probably did a better job of "flipping" this song was Apathy on that Demi Godz track called "The Smackdown" or something like that. Get familiar!

  • before u heard liquid swords, u aint had a fuckin clue who willie mitchell was, so kill all that bitin' talk

  • used for gza's liquid swords (prod. by rza)

  • there are a billion instances worse than this man...all he did was the loop the part up at the very beginning...i think that's just a case of finding an awesome break...it's not like he sampled over 20 seconds or something

  • Black eyed peas uses this, I think they play it live though... Behind the Front - Head Bobs peace

  • Right, and then Mos Def completely ripped off The Genius on Crime & Medicine off of True Magic... whats like double weak!

But actually I think its OK just because Liquid Swords is such an awesome song. The Mos Def song is dope too.

  • wu world order

  • WHEN THE MC'S CAME....

  • They also used it for "4th Chamber". It's not as obvious though.

  • at which part of the song is the '4th chamber' part???

  • Apethy and Celph also used this to great effect.

Oh yeah and the WU TANG part is fron GZA's Liquid Swords album .."when the m.c's came"

  • great! Thx for postin

  • Wu-tang sampled this, but I can't remember which song.

  • liquid swords - gza

  • Yeah, that's it.

  • the late al green producer
