  • wonderful pirouettes!! ..:))

  • Amazing! ^^

  • women in Dom Quichotte (original cast) Quiteria or Kitri as the principal, Mercedes (the Spada's wife also knowed as "La Callejera").Juanita and Piquilla Kitri's friends, Chelita looks as a mexican friend visiting town...maybe she must dance Jarabe Tapatio,La Cucaracha or something...I danced for 15 years in 3 diferent countrys one of those was Mexico at Ballet de Monterrey ,they dont know any Chelita ...

  • fabulous

  • Bravo! And what a wonderful audience!

  • why Chelita?? is Kitri's or Quiteria's variation!!..who is Chelita? what are we, mexicans??is Don Quijote or Popol Vuh?

  • @aircat29 First, sometimes names change depending on the production, for example Clara is called Masha in russian production for the nutcracker. Second, Chelita is not a mayan name, as you sugested by refering to the Popol Vuh, Chela derives from Isabel which is an Spanish name. Third, mexican names are beautiful. About the dance, she is a gorgeous dancer with bright techinque and bravura. Bravo Lali!

  • Where is Pas d' Chatte?

  • What she did here is a pas de chat à la russe.

  • A la Russe? I never saw Maya Plisetskaya do that. She did a Pas d' chatte. The way it's been done for centuries.

  • I've never seen anyone besides this girl doing it in this variation.

What I said is that the jump she did is sometimes called a "pas de chat à la russe", which does not mean russians do it, it's just a name people sometimes use.

  • Abustina- No big deal! FYI, out of curiosity, I consulted 2 Russian coaches about the term, and they replied they had never heard of it. They found it quite funny that whoever said it blamed the russians for it!!!

  • I'm sorry if I offended you, I didn't mean it.

But really, I've got a cuban teacher who told me that's an usual name for that jump in Cuba, it doesn't mean they're blaming the russians.

I'm sorry, really, I don't want to disturb you or anyone.

  • Abustina!,HAHA!! Don't be silly, no apologies please! It was just a curiosity. Some of my favorite dancers are the Kubains. Their Cuban School of Ballet is worldclass and their teachers are highly regarded in the world as are their dancers. In fact, we go to see Jose Manuel Carreno at ABT. The cubans are full of life onstage and they project artistically. It might have been said in competitive fun!!! I'm not offended, believe me.BTW, I think Colon Opera House is the most beautiful ever saw.

  • Haha ok :) so you know I'm from Argentina? where are you from?

  • Brooklyn New York. My wife and I love the ballet. She introduced me to it in 1959 when we went to New York's Central park to see Igor Youskevitch and Alicia Alonso in black swan pas' for free. There were 20,000 people in attendance. They were incredible, especially La Alonso was formidable. We still talk about that night we were engaged.

  • Oh, wow, that's fantastic! I never got to see alicia since I'm too young, but I've seen videos of her and from what I can tell she was admirable.

  • Abustinaa- She was a dancer of rare beauty. We saw her Giselles in 77&78 at the MET Opera House with Cuban Co..She was 56yrs.old and you would never know it.Her stage presence was devestating,(Goddess level)She seemed to float in the 2nd act. Her films though great, don't come close to the emotional power she had onstage.Visit, British Pathe and watch a reel of her Giselle in Moscow(Bolshoi) 1958.

  • you are absolutely right there is no pas de chat here... there is a jump, some would call that a "free glisade" thats the name on RAD method... but i have never heard pas de chat a la ruse so I don´t really know.

I liked the Kandelaki a lot by the way, she is great!

  • Hello Odile- Very interesting. Can you give me the web site so I can read about it?

  • I am demanding Lali's fouettes, and where are her awesome pirouettes.

    we love you
