Man I sure am glad that I am not the only person that thought some parts of his speech was classless or it may just have been a bad acceptance speech I don't know. Some people said that he was just telling the people who let him down in his life thank you. He didn't thank none of those people that is just an ASSUMPTION all of you made. "you know you messed up" "you know you should have put me on that magazine". He is not humble and he lacks class. He may be the best on the court but sh**y off.

How was this speech remotely controversial? We want people to be phonies? Thats why I never listen to media dummies. Anytime i want to amp my self up, i go and watch one of those commercials. He didn't have to mention all the stuff everybody knew about him that tuned in to watch the speech, he could have easily have been HUMBLE and let his success talk for him. He was complaining like a little bi**h. If he wouldn't have went thru all that wit them then he prolly wouldnt have worked his ass off, so he should thank them and practice forgiveness like a true champion.

Ppl are too sensitive. This speech was not controversial. He just talked about what drove him to be a great basketball player. This was a great speech. Ppl talk about what they mom did for them and how they eat chicken and all that. He talked about basketball and how competitive he is.

If anyone has the right to give that kind of a speech it's Jordan. If he wanted to be arrogant about his accomplishments, he would not have thanked Isiah. Look at Jerry Sloan's face at 0:27 classic from someone who understands the sheer drive and competitive spirit of Michael.

He could have added a little humility but I don't expect a competitor like this guy to go up there are be all corny and sappy. The majority of the speech is about what fueled his fire...in doing so he showed it still burns very bright even at his hall of fame speech. This man would slit your throat on the basketball court...part of what made him so great.

This man is the man!! This is exactly how I would have done the speech... nothing wrong with it... he was funny and spoke of how everyone that he came accross 'helped' him get there... so in turn he was thanking everyone for 'making' him the best!! I grew up idolizing his every moves... I think haters will always have something negative to comment. Thats life! Good vibes to all

I was waiting for the part of the speech that everyone said was so controversial and never found it. He gave a great speech about his competitive nature as a player and the people that helped him with is career along the way. Also left us with a juicy cliffhanger at the end lol

I also was expecting an ugly and embarrassing scene (from what I'd heard) but I was surprised at how gracious and even funny he was. I don't know what else people were expecting from a great athlete who led his team to six titles.
I suppose being competitive is considered frightening and uncouth to some people.

The guy has been competitive all his life.. put yourself in his shoes.. his attitude is a reflection of the life he lived. His speech was fine for who he is..the best basketball player to ever life. So i dont get why the speech got so much criticism at all.. i guess from people that just dont understand..i suppose.

correction not athletes but 1 of the lowest paid superstars he was the face of NBA and as far as contract was no where near some of the other superstars but back to my point the owners and companies hand these kids everything they want before they ever play a single down or step a foot on the court Jordan proved he was worth what he got before Nike Gatorade came knockin he was an all-star and by the way he was always well spoken and into philosophy must be hard for you to hear a black man make
