also, something they kinda didn't mention is when you're checking the car, check multiple VIN locations and make sure they all match. (VIN is usually located on the dash, under hood, door jamb of driver side at minimum. many cars also go as far as putting it on each window too.) strange things have happened that resulted in mismatching VINs including big theft rings.
