  • Thanks Don Cornelius !!!!!!!!!!

  • blaaaah, religion and music are natural human expressions. The challenge for the future is in everyone becoming human rather than just plastic fantastic. But you'll notice the same thing might be happening now with black people in America where the culture is not producing the same talent... that's what's been happening to white people since about the year 1000. It's a classic problem of civilisation, not so much a problem of race.

  • @lifelessvoyeur

There's plenty of great artists still out there. So talent just disappeared overnight? Back then urban radio played what the people wanted to hear, including regional talent. The problem today is radio across the country is controlled by large corporations like Clear Channel that only play the same music lists and don't care about quality or local artists. Regional talent has no avenue for exposure.

  • say! ekayjay real talk .... u can teach a man a lot of things in life but 1 thing u cannt and never be able 2 do is ........... be able 2 teach a man 2 have soul. them 13 people r listening they cannt feel thuis type of shit .... dont a square beats all u ever saw

  • 13 PEOPLE SHOULD MOVE TO ANTARCTICA

  • Stop trippin, and let the music soothe you (and the beast that makes you turn this into anything more than what it is, "good music")

  • to all of those that want to make this a race thing...suck it...just beautiful music...enjoy it

  • THE EUROPEAN HAD NO MUSIC OR CHORD STRUCTURE THAT THE MOOR (AFRICAN,BLACK MAN DID NOT GIVE THEM) THE MOORS CIVILIZED EUROPE SO U R WRONG !!!!! CHECK OUT THE REAL STORY. ALL MUSIC COMES FROM AFRICA !!!!!!!!

  • stop this foolishness and enjoy the music..if I was weakminded I would be ashamed of being Black..the thought of you putting this stuff on the net for all to see..we are on the bottom the pole for sure, and you want it that way.

  • Well, hellloooooooo.... ;)

  • The 12 people who disliked must be deaf and could not hear the soul pouring out. Numb-skulls

  • love this song....bring back some memories

  • Brings a tear to my eye...

  • Yea , u are right. the love of Money is the root of all evil. U got a generation who talks just about Love of Money and gaining it by any means. Getting and having sex, thinking about #1 and thts it. Nothing about Loving self or someone. We got to pray and ask God to send someone God , Love filled music through some serious Angels ,, Praise God!!V

  • Maybe I shouldn't think of you as mine..... Oooo weeee... sing it Ron.. love the Todd Rundgren version but this here is straight up soulful!

  • great music allways its sad but whats missing in soul music is the band like ewf or the coomodores or the isley brothers whats also missing is that family group or just a bunch of women or men groups

  • it was much later that i found out the white boy wrote this. his original is great of course. the isley bros. rarely do others' songs. a fine tribute. i like the isley version, but it is a matter of pop or r and b. odd a few of there songs cause to tear up.

  • im 25 an i love this type of music,,,,true REALLL music,,big fan!!

  • Real music .

  • Eat your heart out, Todd R.

  • @RobertStewart1RE lol..they put soul on this song...but I love Todd's version too.. but he ain't no Ron Isley...

  • Eat your heart Todd R.

  • I love both original versions by Todd, first with Nazz, then solo....but this is great!

  • We haven't lost anything but the ability to purchase good music. The record companies supply the demand for the BS that people are paying for. Artists like Kelly Price, Maxwell, Anthony Hamilton, Raheem Devaughn, Kem, Mariah Carey, Musiq Soulchild...and many others that you have probably never heard of, are every bit as talented as those legends, we just demand so much less now.

  • @nduri2 The Pickings are much slimmer though.. there are good artists out there most of them Unsung...and doing the Independent thing because record companies want to push the garbage. Back in the day, there was no need to hunt down good music because it was there in abundance...and didn't matter what you looked like...only that you could SANG! I do miss those days...just pick up an album and let it play, no need to hit the skip button. Ever.

  • @MultiplicityMe2 I agree 100% I've had the good fortune to be in a part of the business where we didn't really care about how an artist looked. I hope to be able to reenter the business very soon.

  • @nduri2 I send you off with an abundance of peace and blessings....

  • great voice

  • NO ONE DOES IT AS WELL AS TODD.

  • hell yea thats what im talking about

  • I need to break out my mommy's 45 :) I don't care who don't like it I love it Ron will make you smile whenever or whatever he sings

  • I like the original by Todd and this remake. I think people should probably listen to it on a c.d. I think it sound's better. But, I do like both versions.

  • A horrible remake...Todd Rundgren should be bitch slapped for allowing these guys to trash his song...then again, maybe his record label allowed it and Todd had no say in the matter....

  • @truck2112yes Just say you don't like it and keep it moving geez.

  • @CSL1 I will say what I want to say, whether it be short or a long tirade.

  • It sounds pretty good!

  • i hope kem do one of yhere songs 2 omg it would sound so go!!!!

  • Kem is out there and he's damn good. I hope he does an Isley song someday

  • this is fantastic. They had such good musical instinct. Where have the giants gone?

  • I think it sounds good for a 37 yr old track.

  • You won't find a bigger fan of the Isley's than me, but they should not have done this song. This is as bad as Barbara Streisand doing "Jingle bells"

  • I prefer the original by Todd Rundgren but the Isley Brothers always do a justice to the original even while making it their own.

  • damn..where has this kind of great music gone? Besides R.Kelly, Alicia, and John legend no one is puttin it down like this anymore

  • This is a band that will make you cut a rug and then make you fall back in love old school rules

  • i hate renditions normally but this one is one of the few exceptions...

  • HELLO HELLO HELLO BABY 4 SHO!!!!!!!!!

  • i like how he says hello 15 times

  • 7 IDIOTS...

  • U can jus feel it. Beautiful

  • Omg *swoon*. I have their greatest hits but I've never seen a performance from the actual era. Thanks so much for sharing!!

  • A golden voice, this man has. It is a national treasure.

  • If you're going to remake a great song, this is how it should be done. Love Todd Rundgren's classic, love this version too.

  • Todd Rundgren--skinny white kid--wrote this song. It's fun to compare his original to this one. Go to TODD RUNDGREN - HELLO IT'S ME, posted by rundgrenfan.

I know he looks totally flutter-bye in this video, but these guys were so much freer and open then. They had FUN with gender-bending. This guy was Liv Tyler's father figure while he was with her mother Bebe Buell; he has his own grown-up son, and a wife of a zillion years.

  • FUCK BEATLES,ROLLING STONES AND U2, THIS IS THE GREATEST GROUP OF ALL TIME

  • @crouchhill EXACTLY.. i was just talking to my mom today about this. I read a magazine which said 100 greatest of all time. Beatles was number one. First of all.. none of the four beatles can sing. 2ndly, when they do "sing" there's absolutley NO SOUL. Rolling stones was 3rd or 4rth. Isley brothers was somewhere in the middle and i was pissed. Honestly.. Ron Isley has one of the most unique voices i've ever heard. Isely brothers are GREEAAAATT... i understand what you mean.

  • 1974 was an enormously peaceful year. My senior year in HS. Great Group, Great Time, Great Song...

  • Every generation has their own music and that doesn't equate to being a good thing or a bad thing we were blessed to have the Isley Brothers and they are blest to have the singers they have. That's what makes the world an interesting place.

  • @Pattiwel yes every generation has its own music but ......this generation souless and have soldout. The music industry is controled by jews (nwo) and it is dying

  • Man, I miss the days when we could see great artist on soul train. Those people didnt know how fortunate they were to see the Isley Brothers Live! in their great days

  • 100% coolness back in the day and had the music and the voices to prove it....awesome music

  • I'm 33 years young, and grew up with the Isley's amongst many others. I have this joint on tape and vinyl. Thanx for sharing so the whole world Knows

where hip hop soul music comes from. By the way my nationality is not afro- american this music is universal.

  • don't give up on our youth just yet the isley and other black groups back in the 60's 70's they had a hard time too

  • Best Todd Rundgren cover ever

  • @GreyOrchid *Sarcasm*

  • it was good minus the fact that he said hello for 39 seconds.

  • black people are losing the gift (best singers) sold their souls to the west..........and now the west are trying to sound black

  • @cmakanda13 I agree we have lost our way. There are Whites singing the Blues, Jazz, R & B and other forms of African music. All of this comes from Africa but the children are too busy embracing foolishness like Rap and Hip Hop. Modern Black youth aren't interested int the good stuff. This why they will loose it and be sorry. If I go to a Jazz music school, I'll find more white and Asian kids in there studying this art form than black kids. They've turned their backs of their heritage/history.

  • @cjfl1962. You should get out of the dark!!!!!!

This is the dumbest comments i have read in a long time.

  • @slowjoecpsf I'm not in the dark. This is the truth. Most of our African American youth are interested only in Rap and Hip-Hop. As an example, I just worked on a talent show this weekend. 95% of the acts were Rap, Hip Hop or Hip Hop dancing. The only person singing/playing any jazz were two white kids.

  • @slowjoecpsf I'm not in the dark. This is the truth. Most of our African American youth are interested only in Rap and Hip-Hop. As an example, I just worked on a talent show this weekend. 95% of the acts were Rap, Hip Hop or Hip Hop dancing. The only one singing/playing any jazz were two white kids. Besides, my comment was meant to be in agreement with "cmakanda" is he dumb as well?

  • @slowjoecpsf no more dumb than yours your dumb to the truth

  • @cmakanda13 This type of music, singing style included, was created in the West, in the United States of America, not in Africa as you seem to suggest. African music is nice but not quite like this - but I do agree that the new black music does lack the same soul that the older stuff had.

  • @mrJimCharles but the soul and rythm of it was created in africa. that is truth

  • @mjjcng8958 You Smoking Crack!

  • @nevus yeah enough crack to know my musical history. black american music is rooted in africa.

  • @mjjcng8958 The Soul of Our music comes from Slavery my friend..Not Africa.. You forgot they never came and GOT US! And thats the Sorrow of the Blues...

  • @nevus Our Rhythm Came out of Africa but our Blues came from us..Get your Facts Straight...

  • @nevus where did theslaves come from? africa and their decendents are african mixed in with other things.non the less this music is rooted in africa

  • @mjjcng8958 African-American music is a mixture of cultures Sir.. The Rhythm is of African influence but the Chordal Structure is of European Classical influence..Not just rooted in Africa.

  • @nevus i definetly dont hear any classical influences. also if you want a pure example of classical influences in soul music i would look more towards barry white

  • @mjjcng8958 Thats why im a trained musician and your not..African-American people are mixed Sir with our slavery history of English and Irish.. The chordal structure of our music is definitely European..Look it up you may learn something new about our music..Jazz Blues etc.. European Counterpoint and progression Sir..

  • @nevus just bc youre a musician doen not amount to a hill of beans. the isley brothers did grow up in the church. there music was influenced by the church more then anything else. the black music experience is defiently rooted in africa. whether you agree with me or not that is my opinion

  • @mjjcng8958 Sir our Church spirituals are mostly European compositions..Maybe one day you will learn the history of black music in America..Not just your misinformed opinion..lol And by the way the Isley Brothers are my friends in New Jersey..lol

  • @cmakanda13 yes so true. If they would leave whitey alone and focuse on God they would be alright.

  • To me Ron Isley is a ordinary person on the corner while we are drinking at the fire barrell breaking out with a jam like this. Love him to death!!

  • Acoustic controls backline!

  • This song was written by the brilliant songwriter Todd Rundgren, whose songs have been cover by many a great artist, including the Isley Brothers. Todd is honored to have his biggest hit covered by such an iconic group such as the Isleys and their legendary vocalist Ron Isley.

  • groove theory does a beautiful rendition of this song.

  • queen latifah - black hand side

  • Aw man, I thought Todd Rundgren sang this first. This version is a little sleepy. Don't hate me please.

  • @VODMagazine rundgren DID this song first. this is a cover. not a great one. i like isley bros, but this is zzz ville

  • @sixxbri the album version is better :) not as sleepy

  • Yo Honansoul-- Thank-you, Haven't herd this Isley bro. classic in a while. Man oh man Ronald Isley (AKA Mr. Big) always could blow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • There is another posting of this clip that has MUCH higher image clarity. Like, you can see the beads of sweat on the incredibly sexy lead singer's face.

jpapers66 isley brothers hello its me live

  • Watch out Ron! ur melting the mic with ur voice man. Lucky people got to hear them live, soo close too.

  • this is music...i'm a fanatic for these guys...saw them in concert about 10 years ago by my then boyfriend who is now my HUSBAND.

    REAL MUSIC FOR REAL PEOPLE...

  • any one got a time machine i need the 70s one more round

  • 37 years later and I am still listening

  • @MsThickness46 i agree

  • lol i bet it smelled like pure afro sheen that night

  • @Poster769 LMMFAO.. Hilarious!!... but, I bet you're right!!

  • I love this...they used to lip-sync on the show...makes this performance EVEN BETTER because they are ACTUALLY singing LIVE!!!

  • OMG!!!! I SIMPLY LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

  • A rocking live Soul Train performance by the Isley Brothers from back in the day? Man, you CANNOT beat this with any of that trash they call music now. Sho' Nuff!!!

  • Don't change don't change. Cause I never want to make you change for me baby. It's important to me, that you know you are free. A real playa wrote this!!!!

I'll spend the night if you THINK I should. Awwww.... I hear ya Ron

  • @Treneice12 yeah and that playa was not ron. but ron made it hot

  • Beautiful song.

  • AMEN! jennaber9

  • This is a Todd Rundgren song; not James Taylor.

  • @makemeaster i can feel it the brothers where definetly an influence on the jackson5 and mike

  • This one of all time classic favorites.

  • Was there ever a time when Ronnie couldn't sing? Long before Maxwell, Eric Benet, etc., Ron was killing us with the falsetto. And, he could always back up the recordings with a better LIVE rendition. I can't say that for the wanna-be crooners out there today.

  • THE ISLEY BROTHERS OWNED THIS SONG GREAT IMPROV

  • @makemeaster ...I think I agree with that...no, I do.

  • rick ross father with the big gold chain on lol lol lol

  • @8635me lol i was thinkin the same thing.... he was stuntun hard wit dat chain....

  • Wrong this song was done by Todd Rundgren and I believe he wrote this 1972,or1973 but Ron puts a spin on it that was Awesome , Isey's did a lot of covering of the white guys Summer Breeze was written and performed by Who ? Seals and Cross two amazing white talented white boys.Even songs from the carpenters has been covered by Barry White and so many other artist so it's just a great ride of music.

  • @jo22338601 song was written by Todd in 1968 when he was in the band Nazz. Search "Nazz hello it's me".

Then when he went solo he rerecorded it and thats the version that most people think of and hear on the radio.

  • @frankdudefrank Sorry, only one small correction:)A few people know that the song was written 67 'and was thrown out as a single on the radio

  • @jo22338601 written by James Taylor

  • @jo22338601 nad them white boys covered the isley alot before then as well. the influenced the beatles too. over 5 decades of music

  • It is quite nearly impossible to go wrong with the Isley Brothers. What a great version.

  • Gotta respect these guys as they not only have been around for a long time but they were always consistently making GREAT MUSIC... Besides i do believe that they owned thier masters as well which at that time was incredible...

  • i got that same outfit as the brother in white thats swaying side to side

  • fucking masterpiece! shame for the poor quality of the clip

  • o yes the one and only isley brothers

  • A great cover by the Isley Brothers. In the 60's they saw their songs being covered by other acts and turned into hits most notably twist and shout which was covered by the Beatles. In the 70's the Isley's, in an album Giving it Back, covered (and reinterpreted) songs by rock acts , such as, Summer Breeze, Love the one your with, Lay Lady Lay and Hello it's me (on another album) and introduced these songs to black audiences. They were great songs but the Isley's gave these songs soul.

  • HELL YEAH , MY CUT HERE, HELLO IS ME BABY

  • So Todd Rundgren has soul after all to for all the soul brothers to follow. Sweet!

  • one of my favorites..... OMG

  • THE ISLEY BROTHERS: BLACK ROYALTY

  • back then you didnt have to prove you could sing on a show. if you didnt know how to sing you woudlnt have a record deal. plus alot of it took alot to set up and do all that stuff. but i love the live performances. God bless the isley brothers!!!

  • This is one of my favorite Isley Brother songs

  • "Knock knock..." "Hellllloooo, HELLLooooooooooooo. "

  • sexy sweet hot

  • Finally a REAL LIVE SOUL TRAIN PERFORMANCE. The Isleys are the best

  • Wow......someone who can ACTUALLY sing......

  • @jennaber9 u can say that again

  • @jennaber9 LOL I know it been so long.

  • Don't change. . . . . .

  • the one and only SOUL TRAIN... food for the soul.

  • Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh......

  • cause i wont want to change for anybody no matter what happens! I LOVE FELIPE!!

  • Wow,what a voice! This is when singers actually sounded like the record

  • Ohhhh my.................

  • You know I'd be with you if I could...........

  • what a sexy vid! love it!

  • this is unbelievable what a sweet sweet voice oh man...

  • pure heaven pure genius..thanx for da post

  • I love both versions, but this is the one that moves me the most......

  • @marrone2002

they both came out around the same time. maybe a year or later. However, the radio stations used to be segregated sort of. I mean a lot of black people only new this song by the Isley becuase they listened to the RB stations and the whites only knew the Rod version. A lot of bands did that back then

  • Spoke with Todd at a gig he came to, and he LOVES whenever any artist does a great job on his songs...

  • does anybody know if Todd Rungren liked the Isley Brothers version of his song ??/ Holla back !!11

  • Must have taken ages to write the begining of that.

  • This is my all-time favorite Isley Brothers song!

  • soul train hardly let the talent sing live but this is a real band very real singers

  • @guilliame884

They used to let the "bands" play live a lot.

  • Vintage isley brothers.Pretty cool stuff,love it !!!

  • i respect this..as a nazz and Todd fan..i always loved the isley brothers.:)I never realized they sang this..

  • thanks for this one my brother
