What is so fantastic about this entire video is the fact that Mr. Menard's musicians are young folks. Young folks to keep the values and traditions of South Louisiane going!!
@FinallyunderstandU Wait some days...i have a vacate for a week...first i prepare a Leonard Cohen song, than i go back through the back door...to my favorit folk music...from the Acadians, the cajuns...the Zydeco's...and so on...the rooths from all music...you can find Jazz and blues influences in these great music...

im 14 and im in love with this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i listen to it everyday and i even got my english teacher to listen to it lol! im originally from louisiana but i moved to texas but im still a cajun!! lol! im bored in english class right now so yea!
It's just hitting me as i arrive back from doing a gig with L'angelus in Belfast Ireland tonight... WOW! What a superb wee band... I got to open the show for them!! Superb!
In January 1992, when my first grandchild was born, I went out to Erath and got a rocking chair from D.L. so the baby's mama could rock when she nursed. A great experience with a great musician.
D.L. Is PURE Cajun and as original and fantastic as you can get..A'ngelus is the SOUL of South West Louisiana, So talented, and amazing singers and entertainers. Get out to see them if they come anywhere near you. Check out the Web site
DL Menard has a recording whose title is "Elle Savait Pas J'Étais Marié" (She Didn't Know I Was Married). It is a neat tune and I'm sure the lyrics are a delight, but I can't find them. Can anyone provide the lyrics he sings to that tune?
a few years ago, i was a french tourist in louisianna and i met this guy in his home in the town of Erath. He is incredible, but he doesn't any want to travel around the world. We will never see him again in France and it's very very sad. Great singer, great musician. Hello to cajun country!
great!!! Love it--older generation connecting w/the new--great-carry on the Cajun traditions..please. I love this music and so glad you are carrying on..lall the best to you. Ya'll good players and the fiddle is sizzling! Wish i was there w/you..fun.fun.fun...
I believe he is twenty something, as are his two sisters to the left of frame, steven rees, sisters paige and katie, not sure if it's their brother john on drums. they are l'angelus.
just cam back from New Orleans 2 days ago and lousiana is the shit! i had the wrong impression of it but it was way cooler than i thought. new orleans is so cool, way better than texas.
I would love to have been there! And-a-jivin' with my woman. This is music. You will have to pay me big bucks to sit and listen to all the modern crap the morons and sheep pretend to like, baaaa! to them.......
AWESOME. DL Looks VERY good still and as always is a true showman and a perfect gentleman. Still plays tight and his voice is still strong. And the rest of your band is just as tight and sound GREAT. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks for the note. This is the third year we have played in D.L.'s backyard but the first time I recorded all the tracks. It's a great sounding space! I'm thinking we might do a 3 camera HD shoot sometime soon.
I speak fluent French, cajun french is so hard to understand! Sounds cool though
