@ruadhrose It's up to you to expose your children to the shorts and feature films that made Disney famous. These characters aren't front-and-center on TV anymore, and when they are it's in an extremely whitewashed, corporate-friendly fashion. Look into acquiring the Disney Treasures DVD sets.

Though I'm honestly still surprised that your daughter doesn't recognize the characters in the least bit, unless you don't get Disney Channel, because I'd imagine at her age she'd be watching the preschool block where Mickey Mouse Clubhouse always comes on.

They aired this special several times, the only difference being some of the cartoons before "Mickey's Christmas Carol" and the movie they were promoting in the final segment. In '92, they would've been promoting Aladdin.

I never understood just why Disney, the long-held pinnacle of animation (seriously, their reputation is so big that some people believe all animated films are by Disney... and even slapping 'Disney' on some films, even if they aren't made by them, makes people give them higher ratings even if they were made by Warner Bros originally or by other people). This video has a special place in my heart because this was the FIRST video my parents taped in 1986 with our Zenith VCR! I wish I was able to preserve this movie on DVD because I still bring out the old tape every Christmas! The version I have also has Goofy's best Christmas memory skiing. Good times!
