This was a favorite of my Mother's. When I was a kid she played this all the time. As for the other more modern singers, they aren't wannabes. That's a silly thing to say but I wouldn't put Rod Stewart in there even if he did record some music. His raspy voice is a novelty, nothing more. There's another coming up who won a game show, a black man who sounds incredibly like Sinatra. He has no training and is also not a wannabe. They like 40s music...simple as that.
Helen O'Connell was one of the most beautiful women ever to sing before an audience. How can you not smile when she smiles and feel her sincerity and obvious pleasure she feels while singing?
@kinkyhair07 Oops,I see that you are a Dude,judging by your Page picture--LOL--Sorry.But my question is,How did they let you keep that here on youtube?They are so picky!
@kinkyhair07 Mulatto and BEAUTIFUL ! Ill bet.We would all be amazed what is in our background here in America.The Melting Pot!I myself am part Ijun.Them Blue and Green Eyes look pretty on dark skin.
my father passed away 7 years ago he would have been 87. we loved this song so much. he served our country in WWII and made it home after 4 years of battle.
Bob Eberly was the brother of Ray Eberle who used to front the Glenn Miller Band. Changed the spelling of their surnames for professional reasons, I understand.
Both Ray and Bob are excellent - what a pity there are none like them today - guess Harry Connick Jr, Michael Buble, Rod Stewart are the modern equivalents.
Its so nice to have a possitive song about those of us with green eyes! yay!

Jimmy Dorsey was born on this date in 1904. {Feb. 29th}
Sadly, Mr. Dorsey passed away on June 12th, 1957... May he R.I.P.

The music is great and this is one of my favorite numbers but....
Jimmy Dorsey?? Why do the band stands all read "Ray Anthony"? I think this was a much later televised show.

I have a version of this song on CD with Gene Krupa and Anita O'Day that is just as good. I think it was recorded earlier.

@paulkate72 I mostly agree. These guys were great. The current folks I put down as "wanna-bees" not equivalents.
